It seems like people are coughing more at this concert than they would elsewhere; like someplace where it's less important to remain silent.
Do you think it's some narcissistic need to insert oneself into the performance or a weird tic in response to the pressure to remain quiet?
I recognize that it could just be a bunch of jerks came in with colds... but it feels like it could be more than that. Either way, it's very, very irritating.
Just saw him live yesterday in the Amsterdam Concert-building. Celebrating for the 250th year of Chopin. Played the whole Sonata 2 and 3 + Opus 15.2 and Scherzo something something... It was so beautiful. My hands were hurting at the end though. We had applauded for 15 minutes at the end.
@3screamingkids I agree...I laughed a lot for your comment because I was thinking the same before reading it. Is it possible that all that people go to a concert like that and keep coughing all the time??? go outside and don t break the atmosphere!
Where did you get this recording demonstrating a whole new level of Zimerman-ian awesomeness ? I have never heard such an astounding or breathtaking fourth movement of this sonata!

2:41 someone's watch changed 2:57 the watch alarm starts beeping. Cough every 5 seconds. Sometimes I don't understand people.

From 2:32 it's such a lovely, delicate melody, that I can only think of petals falling from a flower.

I prefer Pogorelich's interpretation of Marche Funebre.

the finale is a bit too foggy for my tastes, and, of course, the senseless ritardando in the last bars IS arbitrary
Barbapippo 2 years ago
@Barbapippo performance is OK for me. little too much ritardando at the end, though. you're right there.

The "Bydlo" effect in the Funeral March is a bit arbitrary, isn't it? However, a beautiful performance

Bydlo effect?

Chopin was a genius. He wrote this piece so that the last two chords were played so loud that everyone would wake up and applaud the performer.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
No, you are absolutely wrong. The 4th movement is a different separate track. Thanks :-)

I posted that for easy click to the 4th movement for myself lol...
And I was not wrong, it does start at 8:53 though it was a seperate track, you are welcome.
