  • hi, i just want to ask if this is risky or hard to do, because i want to put lighter weights in my new scooter, but i dont have mechanical skills with scooters, to today i only put speakers in my scooter and bypass rpm limiter, but i was working with mopeds for about 3-4 years... can any1 anwser me?

  • The plate on the back of the variator that is bolted on actually is a form of restriction, you can remove it and the belt will travel further up the variator giving you more speed! :)

  • Thank You, i have a peugeot speedfight 2 R-CUP 2008 model and i need new rollers to make the top end speed faster it sets off really fast i just want some the speed can go a little faster what size and g would you recomend i dont want the scooter setting off faster as its fine "if i change the rollers would it go slow setting off?"

  • I figured out that was the problem but now I hhave another question, after i replaced the belt along with some other components it doesnt go nearly as fast as it use to. i looked at the roller weights and two of them had been worn down a little, will that effect my speed? like the other 4 span fine but those tho didnt spin

  • I have a question, we have alike scooters, I just bought mine though from a friend without a belt. I bought the belt but when i put it on it doesnt start. i see that where your sprocket and variator are there is a space for the belt between them.. mine are close together and i thought the belt sat ontop of them both instead of in between.. I think its broken because all the vids ive seen like this the belts fit in there. help?!

  • hi, i have a speedfight 2 "51 plate" with a leo vince exhaust and im puttin on a new cone shape air filter soon, as the jet will need changing wht size would you recomend i was told a 0.72mm?

    also what rollers would you recomend for this set up to work best? i fort maybe 4.4 gram, could you help me out.

  • I think those 4.4 gram would be good but I bought 3 different weight of rollers and I just tested what is best for me.

    And Main Jet would be smthing about 0.70 - 0.85mm

  • Ive got a Piaggio NRG and its bogging down sometimes. When its cold it runns fine but as soon as I get up speed it boggs. Ive been told its the vairator? do you think it is or something else. Ive got a sports exhaust as well but nothing else?

  • Check you sparkplug !!! I had same problem once. I bought new sparkplug and then it worked fine.

  • Thanks for that. Ive ordered a new iridium plug but I have changed it with a new one before and it wasnt any better so I dont know if it will work???

  • Jep rollers go in a specific way, only that rollers are right size and then you can test that rollers rolls in cup.

  • I didnt re-glued it but I tighten it really tight, but you can use "locktight nut glue" its blue or red.

  • I dont think so that is that much better but malossi or polini are maybe little bit better quality but I would not buy polini or malossi because its mooore expensive than mine.

  • hi good vid, ive got a kymco agility 50cc 4 stroke it's been derestricted and now hits 45 mph (70 kmh) and just seems to hit another restrictor because even down hills it stays at that speed i would love to know what is stopping it cause it can go faster 50-55 maybe?? whats up with it?? please help!!

  • My best mates scooter is a bit slow and boggy. Some guys talk about the rollers going. He's got a speedfight 2. Is heavier or lighter rollers better? Do you get top speed as well as acceleration? He is looking at getting a sports exhaust, new drive belt and rollers to make it a bit quicker, will this work? Great video, though. Thanks.

  • It depends about in scooter type in sometimes u get more top speed as well better acceleration but main thing is better acceleration.

    Driving belt that doesnt help about acceleration at all that helps only that belt doesnt brake as fast as normal. And sport exhaust is 50/50. I would change roller weights and clutch springs and compression spring. Look my other video about clutch spring and compression spring changing.

    And about 5.1 gr is good weight about roller weights...

  • That plate that is bolted on to the back of the variator is a restriction device. It stops the front pulley closing all the way together which restricts the top speed. You need to take it off. Also get an 82cc kit with hot camshaft and it will fly (well for a 4 stroke anyway)

  • You can also see that it is still restricted because the wear pattern on the inside of the variator. The part that is darker is where the belt runs up to. If it closed all the way together the wear marks would be all the way the the edge of the pulley.  YOu have another 10 to 15mph left in it.

  • I got Boatian BT49-QT-9, may be you got a different model, in my scooter model a metal pipe comes out of engine's head which is then attached to a rubber pipe, never mind I think your model don't have this pipe.

  • Do you mean exhaust pipe and there goes 1 rubber pipe. I had same thing if u mean that, I took it off. But if u wanna know where it goes it goes airfilter pipe. under the seat.

  • Yep if u charge battery and try kick start it should start because scooter needs full charged battery.

  • Also did a weak  or uncharged battery can be linked to longer time in starting the engine even if i am using Kick starter?thanks

  • Orginal rollers are about 8 gr so they are heavier than new ones i recomended 5 gr or 5.1 gr rollers. U get more acceleration.

    What you mean back wheel bearings ?? You need to change your back wheel bearing ??

    you need to take exhaust pipe off and then you can take back wheel nut open and take wheel off then you can see bearings....

  • thanks very much for your help, one more question, how can i get more speed?(it's allready un-ristricted and can run up to 40 miles down hill and max 30 miles up hill), did the change of rollers will also improve speed apart from more acceleration?.

  • Try powerfitler (air filter), and bigger main jet I have 90 main jet and powerfilter and leave that metal plate off in variator so you can get about 10 - 15 km/h more speed and with powerfilter and bigger main jet (90) My scooter goes 63 km/h...

  • Friend I need some more help, first how can i check that if my electric Choke is working properly or not?(i mean if i took it out of cab and turn the ignition switch on it should pull or push the needle?), secondly there is a screw on right side of carb(the side on which choke is located) i lost it's real position, can u tell me if i tight it inside the carb to maximum then how many (full 180 degree) turns will i need to un-tight it to get to proper position.

  • when u have tight it inside all then open it about 2,5 rounds (900 degree)

  • I dont have a clue how u could test it out but needle should go up, maybe u can test it that u remove that electric choke in carb and then put power on and try start and look all the time that EC needle. I would try that.

  • When u take off that metal plate what i opened, 3 bolts what i opened leave that metal plate off, more speed, and after u have changed roller weights u will get more speed, acceleration...

  • sillo tosiaa ko ton 17 pultin aukasin ni päräytin vaa 1s ajan pulttipyssyl ni samantien lähti :D kaveri lainasi moista aparaattia.. laitettiin muute ensin tuos operaatios tuoho etuvarin levyn väliin tuleva tuo putken pätkä 2:58 kohdassa tätä filmiä jotenkin huonosti tai ei ihan perälle asti.. niin sit käynnistettiin ja kokkeilin ajaa ni helevetin moine rusahdus kuulu :D niinku ois saatana joku vääntyny iha paskaksi.. mutta sen ku laitto 2mm syvemmälle ni pelitti : S :D

  • 16x13 on JUURI OIKEA KOKO. En tiiä siitä reikä jutusta mutta kyllä normaalisti on reikä keskellä :D saattaa sulla olla sitten jotku halpis rullat. Ite ostin rullat Stormilta (Storm Motor). Mun mopo kulkee sen 50 pieniä vikoja on tällä hetkellä, ja ostin uuden painejousen ja uudet kytkin jouset odotan että tulee postiin, niin kiihtyy taas vielä paremmin. Sanon sitten miten kiihtyy ja paljo kulkee ku ne on kiinni.

  • i couldn't do it like that with the screwdriver but i brought a variator locking tool thing and changed them no problem, i do have a question tho, its not actually to do with roller but still

    when i took off my stock pipe to replace it with a sports pipe there is a metal tube thing at the back of the stock exhaust were a rubber pipe was plugged in. there isnt anywere for this to go on the new exhaust and i was wondering what to do with it.

    some people say plug it, some people say just leave it?

  • Yeah you can take it off that just recycle exhaust. Dont worry about it.

  • You can took it all of just look where it goes and take it off. Actually that rubber pipe just attenuate your engine power. If you take it off you engine will be more happy :D

  • were i have to put the screwdriver and bolt is just not behind my bodywork so the handle of the screwdriver is behind everything and its really quite fiddly trying to get it there, and it keep comin off, i guess ill try again with a hammer, or mabey an electric drill with a sockit on the end, you reckon that will help?

  • If you have friends you can ask if somebody could help you to hold screwdriver. Like I did. But nowadays I am pro baotian enginer so no help needed no more ;) you can try to use e.drill but hammer is the best.

  • i took everything apart today and it all went fine until i had to get that nut off, i just couldn't do it, i tried what u did with the screwdriver but it just would not come, i think ill just have to use an impact wrench but i dont have one, guess ill buy one, plus i think you have to tighten the back up to the correct torque and use locktite on the nut or sumit like that becuast if not i might come off, thats what i heard

  • Thats bullshit. Everyone says that but it doesnt matter that much. It doesnt fall anywhere belive me, but you can use locktite but you dont need torque wrench. my nut was also ****** tight but you can hit your wrench with hammer that helped me alot.

  • you no when you put it all back on, dont u have to no what torque setting/how tight to do it up or whatever, i should be doing my rollers in about an hour, i was just wondering because i thought u need to have a torque rench?

    and what can hapen if you over tighten it, is a simple case of loosen it agian lol or can it damage the bike?

  • It doesnt damage your bike if you not over tighten it. And just put it tight, when you are tightening your variator nut when it doesnt tighten anymore then its good. And it doesnt loosen easily.

    You dont need torque wrench, but if you have torque wrench you can use it and look your scooter manual, my manual says (The nut of the driving plate 3,8kg/m 28ft lbs)

  • The lighter the rollers are the better the acceleration is. Any1 can work out the rest.

  • the plate you put on back on the back of the variator is a restrictor. It restricts the full movement of the v belt. Leave it off you will gain 10 - 15mph. You can see when you look at the face of the pulley, the black line is how far up the pulley the belt goes with the plate on. Take it off and the belt will go to about 2mm from the edge of the pulley. Much more speed.
