Could you please upload a video explaining your pedalboard? Maybe a few tips for us to know how to preserve tone and those little things most people don't know. I think we all would appreciate it a lot! :)
About to purchase either 2 ac15h1tvs or 1 Magic Amps Brit MKII TB. Why do you choose to NOT run 2 amps in stereo? To truly get a huge 3d sound do you recommend 1 amp with the right effects or running 2 amps stereo and splitting guitar signal like edge does? Please help. You advice is greatly appreciated
@javiceres I agree, my comment was aimed at the folks getting all uppity and tone snobby about his signal chain. If it sounds good it is good. Dr. John here is obviously a good player with good tone, who cares if he uses a buffer or not. He can play period,
Lol at Carvintone. Leave the poor dude alone. It sounds nice. You don't have to get so anal with people. Tone is purely subjective. Sounds nice Dr. John.
Great kick, great feel! Of course the quality equipment helps, but your playing is right in the first place. Not many people achieve that, no matter what gear they have. Great work here!!
I never could seem to get great sound out of a single speaker, I like the 2 or 4 cabs. It sounds more 3D. No offense to anything, just offering tips, we are all looking for the better tone. using your amp loop (if you have them) will help the front end tone retain more bandwidth. The Eventide is a sweet unit, which bank did you rob?
The more you chain the more you gather cap, its just physics. Loops help and isolator switchers but your signal stil goes through all those connectors and cables. Its just a problem with effect chains in general. True bypass does not save you and actually a good buffer in a pedal like the Morely's have can actually help your tone. If you plugged your guitar straight into the amp there will be a difference on the clean through the chain. Are you using your amp loops for the looper or delays?
I'm good on the Physics (got a degree and Ph.D. with it....) I'm using op amp buffers with unity gain on my board which help preserve my tone. Please take the time to examine what's on my board. It's not just a chain of effects between guitar and amp.
Sorry, I can't really see all that on YouTube. You seem a little young to be a Doctor. So your delay/looper is in the amp loop after the amps preamping?
I think the Jesus is sucking your tone, it needs true by pass. You guys are killing me with all these chains. I learned to trim things down to basics. Keeps my tone monsterous. Do you have your modulation delays in a loop or is it all amp in? The loops are cool but the sound is very processed like a processor unit. The signal is degraded, enhanced, degraded, and enhanced, through a huge line of connections and cables. In a live band situ all the massive processing gets washed out.
If you are implying my board is sucking tone with a huge line of connections then you need to re look at the way I designed this board. There is no tone sucking or impedance mismatching. Moreover, the signal path is relatively short between the guitar and amp...
I know this is two months old, but i have to weigh in on this and say that its so hard to make a judgment call on youtube. The audio on these videos is compressed, how could you really offer an honest opinion about someones tone when you only reference is low quality sound via ultra compressed internet streaming?
@mattmcqueen88 I'd swear that this chain does not sound bad, after hundreds of demos listened through the years you kind of develop a sense or capability to hear through all this compression and artifacts (not to mention the crappy speakers and corrupted eq). The tone listened hear is of course miles from the real thing but I think you can have an overall idea.
@CarvinTone I play through a TimeFactor direct to the amp (57 tweed deluxe reissue) and I can tell that it sounds better with the TF in the chain, its buffers are that good : )
I have been playing over thirty years, there are basic hook up rules depending on the pedals. Some say its a matter of preference, not really, it's more physics and signal path issue. A good player can make crap sound good, it doesn't mean much. If you have a question on placement drop me a line. I have had and used about everything and there is technique to consider when using effects, some just play through a box, one needs to learn to play incorporating the pedal into the playing.
what are you talking about, brother? he's just demoing this - it's not going on a cd. if you want to avoid the slight break, play for one measure without stopping and begin your sample at the start of your next measure. it will pick up the delays from the prior measure and ensure the loop is seamless... people have been doing this for 30+ years...
Actually that's not entirely accurate. There is indeed a subtle break but that is down to the Eventide Timefactor's looping capabilities (continuity) and not necessarily with the timing of the delay. There are some great looping examples (with delay) from mick3b1g on youtube. Based on his clips I would disagree with you here when you say "you can't do a loop using delay"...

@cobwebb15 I'm a bit late, but to get 'The Edge sound' you need dotted eighths. He does use triplets too, but usually dotted eighths.
But to answer your question, yes, the timefactor does triplets. Dotted eighths too.

old enough sadly....delay is pre-amp. For Edge tones.
