It's now three years later, and nothing much has changed. Marcia Mayeda has had 10 years to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of animals that have come through the doors of the 6 Los Angeles County Animal Shelters. She has failed miserably. Not only is the kill rate well over 80%, but the living conditions are horrific and almost all the animals that manage to survive are adopted or rescued SICK. Time to go!
Thank you for another informative interview with the animal's needs in the forefront as they should be. From what I can gather it would seem the differing laws from county to county are getting in the way of good, humane animal welfare practice. This has to change. Every homeless dog/cat must be given the best care and a second chance. It's a shame those that speak up for them are sometimes treated like the bad guys, when in fact compassionate advocacy is always right!

right on mary catalano-- and cathy and ryan! let the light shine on the inhumane treatment of animals...it will change when people are aware.
