  • Alrgghty Del. Have you put the bar end weights onto the Renthals? I hear they require some bodgery with the rawl screw type things... Do you need them or are the vibrations in the bars ok?

I ask because I am about to stick some Renthals on the VFR.

  • @boredofitall I put the bar weights on with wall expanders yes, £3 from B&Q lol... and yeah they make a difference, the Renthals are flexible alloy so will absorb a bit of the bar buzz.. but its ten times smoother with the proper full 1lb steel weights on.. try them with and without, see how you feel, i have a video if you need it for info.?

  • @Moonfleet41 - Cool, I will look for the video if it's on your playlist. Thanks Del, you're always such a help and always so generous and enthusiastic. Props dude!

  • Excellent work

  • @rascateelojete Gracias Juan..

  • Pretty cool z bars there bud, oh wait that was the last handlebar video I saw....opps my bad! lol

Nice job on the bars bud

  • Yeah, if i didnt have Monkey arms it wouldnt have been a problem, i need flatter or further away bars on just avbout every bike i have..

  • @Moonfleet41 Why don't you just shorten your arms, then you wont have to replace the hadlebars with every new bike you get, and I wont have to keep watching the same video every time :P lol

No but really I don't mine buddy, keep them coming!!!

  • @Rasd4Metta Shorten my arms.?..DOH.. all these years and so many wasted hours changing bars, oh the life i have lost in pointless endevour....BUGGER.! (now wheres that angle grinder gone..! )

  • @Moonfleet41 Make sure you put your gloves on before using that grinder mister!!!! Safety first!

  • @Rasd4Metta Ha ha, PMSL....got tea all over the keys again now...DUH.. which is now even worse because i cant reach it due to my shorter arms...Bugger..!

  • @Moonfleet41 Haha thats to funny man you crack me up!!!! lol

  • Changed mine today with the help of this vid. Saved 50£. Thanks del. I removed some sort of spring from the choke which I'm having trouble getting sorted. I removed a spring which I didn't av to and can't get it workin. Any ideas what I shoul do

  • @cogsy08laa FIFTY QUID....what?.. was that what the dealer was gonna charge you.?... naffin burglars..

There are a few springs in the left hand switch block, one that returns the indicator switch for sure, but i cant think of any others.... where exactly has it come from Cogsy?, you said 'the choke' did you mean in the switch block, or down on the carbs..? let me know in a PM message where we can type more....ill do my best to help buddy.. Del.

  • Good vid will be changing mine soon btw were did you get the short mirrors from?

  • @Harp3rOn Thanks buddy.... the mirrors are the OE ones, just with the shafts removed and the ends screwed into each other..(you need to make a short 1" grub screw as you end up with 'female to female' threads)..... but i wouldn't bother mate, they are totally useless, all you can see is your arms.. that's why i didn't bother showing the video of making them.. check out the cheap bar Mirror video later on.. ten times better, looks cool, and only £15.. cheers. Del.

  • Did you see how I made some cheap Moped switches work on the Red Baron because I had nothing?

  • @berkelusa Damn right, thats why this kind of inspiration is so enlightening, it makes people realise that almost anything can be done if you want to make it work.... use what you have aye buddy..!

  • About to do this on the cg (post drop restoration taking much longer due to rain and having to work outside) so thanks again Delboy. Your hints and tips for ham-fisted-monsters are really appreciated ;)

  • @boredofitall Yer welcome Sal, that would make some good footage, get it shooted and posted and stuff.... i can see it now... Sal's Garage (oh no garage... erm... how about... "Sal's Driveway Resto's"..??? gid -ur-dunn..!

  • yet another great vid. Hey Del where is your next ride to work vid?

  • @terroristone Second man to ask mate,... got the new batteries for the lid-cam this morning, so ill film tomorows ride in... looks like heavy rain tomorrow morning too, so should be all the more interesting fighting the traffic....Muah ha ha haaaa.. come to pappa....

  • Nice bike there! Much faster than the Iron, isn´t it? I hope you´ll film yourself while driving it!

  • @haufenscheise Thanks mate..Ride Video.? you must have read my mind, i just bought some batteries for the Helmet camera this morning, so ill get stuck in and see what tomfoolery we can find out there... muah ha ha...

  • This is why I love watching your videos..you assume nothing. You demonstrate in a very comprehensive and entertaining way. I think this is what is missing for the most part from you tube, the actual "how to." I hate to see the sporty go but quite frankly, you could be working on a radio flyer and I would watch. I think you should start manufacturing and selling bikes! I want to be the first one in the states to own a 1 off Delboy! LOL. Hope it all works out for you. Keep up the great work.

  • @QU13TM4N good point quietman.

but first i think he should start with using sponsored parts.

so when he builds bikes for sale he'll make more profits ;D aha how about that (evil kapitalistic grin, with a champagne glass in one hand)

  • @kennroxx 'Sponsored Parts'?. but that misses the whole point Ken, the last thing i would endorse is companies products.. i want us to save money and do things ourselves, you know "phuque the factory" and all that..someone is always getting rich off us, and that sucks.. if i can help a brother mend his bike and keep shoes on the kids feet and food on the table at the same time....then im in heaven..! and rather than 'build a man a bike'. i would "show him how to build his own".. much better way.

  • @QU13TM4N QM, you are way too kind buddy, its just a bit of tinkering, lol. So many times one assumes that a job is simple so anyone can do it, then when i heard a freind of mine had paid a workshop to change some bars for him, its obvious that some just dont want to tackle things they are not familiar with, so if anything im just trying to show actually how simple and easy it really is, and judging by the feedback i get, folks just need to see it done, then they get stuck in..thanks again buddy

  • comfort is an illusion in the sportster world. you can only think and believe you're comfy.

sometimes but just sometimes i just think of getting a cbf1000 for my daily commute to work and home. good clutch, good brakes, good suspension, good seat , good engine, good service and etc.

but than i think i'm not used to having everything good in my life.

    i simply like living uneasy.

ah btw; any bike i ride feels like mine in less than 2.3 secs. then some stick some don't.

    glad it worked for you

  • @kennroxx Man thats deep, kindred spirits brother.. i love the harder way of doing things, thought it was just me .lol... i was designing up a jokey shifter when i had to sell it... imagine hand changing and foot clutch.... proper hardship, (but hey, nobody asks to ride your bike then aye..lol).... ill have to save the drawings for the next Harley... (now where did i leave that lotto ticket..)

  • first shot fired! hope it goes all well.

and compared to sporster it's seems like a more complicated process.

i love sportsters for their simplicity. they're like the ak-47 of bikes.

  • @kennroxx ha ha yeah, and just as dangerous if they fall on you..lol.... cheers Ken, the ride to work was a lot more comfy, it feels more like mine already.... (no nibbles on the sportster yet though..)... Cheers Del.
