"Sesame Street" probably dropped these Grover and Kermit "Froggy Baby" skits simply because they were old and dated, like many other skits dropped over its 42 years on PBS. Nowadays Grover is doing well as "Super Grover 2.0" and Kermit is one of the Muppets now owned by Disney, and besides the obvious legal reasons, I think Disney and Sesame Workshop have a gentleman's agreement to keep the two sets of Muppet characters separate.
@heathgreenlee I remember that! I used to giggle when Kermit would say "Missed me!" LOL! Does anyone out there have that skit? I would love to see it again after all these years!
ONe time, there was a segment where Kermit did copy what Grover said as he said 'hey Grover babbbbbbbby and WALLOPPED him on the back. That was comical!
back when Mr Hooper's store was run by Mr. Hooper, Snuffle-uphugus was all Big Bird's imagination and Cookie Monster ate nothing but cookies. Ahhh, the good old days!
This is TRUE Sesame Street! Elmo and all that fluff they have now isn't saying anything to Kermit's (Jim Henson) time. (Fraggle Rock) Who know about them know what I am talking about.
Obviously, the way they did the double Grover thing is that the first Grover is performed by someone else, as eveidenced by the fact that he doesn't move his mouth or talk until he's offscreen and the second Grover is Frank.

@Darren50001 Yeah, I remember that. Grover was trying to do something to demonstrate the number 2. He wasn't too good at it. Oh well.

@Darren50001 That was Grover's lecture on the numer 2. It was classic! Kermit finally gets a piece of Revenge on Grover! LOL! ;)

MiltownPunkette21 2 years ago 5
I totally agree with you! Grover is THE monster of Sesame Street!
"Heyyyyy froggy babyyyyyyy!!!" x-D
This must be real early 70's, 'cause his voice sounds rough around the edges.

From 1971, back when they introduced Mr. Snuffleupagus and the Amazing Mumford as major Sesame Street characters.

XD! Cute! I remember an episode of Ed Edd 'N Eddy which had a similar scene to this.
glowworm2 4 years ago
What episode was that? I forget...
DCism 4 years ago
It was the one where Eddy has all the kids work for him-and Johnny sends Nazz a copy of Plank's butt.
glowworm2 4 years ago
Oh, yeah.. it was "They called him Mr. Ed!" I remember that one, when the Eds are trying to go as far UP as they can.

Notice near the middle of the ladder going by it slows down quite a bit so they could get Grover to the back. LOL

How the Hell did Grover call his twin on a short notice?
Shadowhawk28 4 years ago
Actually my question is how did Grover get a twin in the first place?
wattamack4 4 years ago
Well, his mother could have gave birth to Twins. Ever thought about that?

It took me a long time to be able to see this again . . . but well worth it !
