I don't give a damn about his personality Bob Backlund got it done in the ring like few others could. Having said that I'd still prefer Magnificent Muraco as champion.
I am so sick of people talking about Backlund's lack of personality. His main thing was that he could get into the ring and put on an entertaining match. He could keep it watchable for over an hour unlike so many others, both then and now, who couldn't go 30 minutes bell to bell in any manner that would keep a crowd interested.
@Mrpartsunknown Very well said.......he was a meat and potatoes wrestler and he always was the good guy. As a child I could not wait to see him every month at the Spectrum and beat the best bad guys out there......Killer Khan, Bobby Duncum, Hulk Hogan, Magnificent Muraco, Greg Valentine, George Steele, King Kong Mosca, Bob Orton, Adrian Adonis, Big John Studd, Ken Patera, etc. Maybe dull on the mic, but he could carry any opponent and make it a great match!
Bob Blackened and bluend was supposed to be the good boy champion, humble and soft-spoken, who would be a good role model for the young kids. No personailty at all.

@Chrisdrumz It took him like 12 years later and then he was too old. Psycho Bob Backlund was a good gimmick.

Muraco was so good on the mic. When I was a kid, I actually believed him. Very underrated.
