I have used the e meter before and what they say about the grip on the cans is absolutely true.Its so obvious that I do not know how people can be fooled by it I wasn,t and years later I am a Happy non Scientologist

@minnescanada It's.. sort of. It's a resistance meter with high sensitivity and an under-damped needle movement. The movement is the tricky bit - multimeters are designed show the correct ohm value, while e-meters are designed to show how the needle moves.
By the way, Scientologists do know that it's just a resistance meter. Dianetics outright says it's a "highly sensitive galvanometer". (No, I'm not a scientologist, but I read a bit of Dianetics to see what the big deal was.)

The US FDA gave it a pass except it comes in handy as a tool for psychics, and quackery to appear scientific.
COS members feel intimidated by it, so that is at least half the power of the device.
If it's just a resistance meter. than any multi meter from The Source or Best Buy would do the same for under $50.
