  • Why don't you guys go by Luke Holloway's class and give him a dose of reality. I get sickened by his kung fu movie, knife fighting bullshit. I once even saw him do a technique where he dropped the knife from one hand to another.

All of Luke's teamwujin CRAP works great when the threat stands still after making one aggressive move.

  • Most of the knife defenses are missing the initial strike to "soften up" the attacker before a takeaway is attempted. As this drill demonstrates, its not a wrestling/grappling match. Really like the concept of this training.

  • the fucking fat ass killed every body

  • this is fuckin stupid!!! good way of getting killed, its a fuckin knife not a lollipop!!!

  • @singhakabuttar Sooooo, letting yourself get stabbed is the best way to go?

  • Here's a tip in any case that you're trying to mug someone

Never try to mug someone and try to pull out your knife out of your back pocket, especially if the knife is small or too far in your pocket lol

  • this training looks intense - good though!

  • love the intensity. It might be an idea to have an exit to get to to reinforce the idea of getting yourself out of a dangerous situation. Also grappling someone with or without a knife allows for other people to get involved which is not great. Lastly, knife or no knife you need to take the initiative as soon as you feel threatened, you can't let the assailant dictate the encounter. Love the training guys.

  • perfect training

  • Jeah, it´s really nice, but if somebody talks to me like that or bullies me arround i would first break his face before he can pull the knife out. And I miss a little of controling the situation before. Nevertheless really nice training :)

  • @fischingfudge Haha... that's what everyone says, until they are leaking in the middle of the street because they thought they were tough. Avoid the fight and walk away.

  • @WhiteBeltAcademy You are right but moving baward puts you always in a victim situation. Street fighters and bullies always just attack weaker opponents, that´s why you have to show them in the beginning that you aren´t somebody to mess arround. There are a lot of body language gestures where you can show dominance and I would use that. First winning, than fighting. :) Great vid!!

  • 2 retards

  • i dont know why theyre letting themselves get cornered/being IN range of a strike. Its all bad training.

  • Wow, i actually got scared for a sec when the bloke yelled: "GIVE ME THE FOKKIN MONEY!"

Nice realistic look. None of that fancy movie shit.

  • this is perfect, more schools should train like this for knife attack drills not spend all day practicing knife vs knife. Good vid thanks for posting!

  • Good training!

  • good job at 1:14

  • good realism, the individuals could benefit from learning some knife defence techniques though, it seemed the knife was not always there main concern. Also on the point of pushing back when being confronted, if they are invading personal space you cannot always retreat to increase distance. i teach people to put out an arm to stop an attacker invading personal space. if you let them square up to you if they attack first (which they will) you will have no chance of reacting in time.

  • this was really really realistic!! i find it funny when martial arts videos show disarms and crap, but there always doing it really slow. if they did it fast, then they wont be able to catch the knife.

  • @tredub91 hell yeah you're right. this CAN'T be more realistic

  • @tredub91 Hell yeah you're right.but this is not SO realistic cuz these guys are getting stabbed and still continue reacting to the attack.

  • @danielxdglaciuus very true

  • I worked as a doorman for 14 years and have been stabbed on two occasions. When someone stabs you (and it isn't severing a tendon or artery) you don't stop. The first time I didn't even know I'd been stabbed! I've trained in karate, judo, aiki jitsu, BJJ and currently in freestyle kickboxing. The training in the video is superior to traditional dojo training for street situations. I love the traditional styles but if your training for the street this is the way to go.

  • this training is interesting, I dont see a realistic response to getting stabbed. i see several folks getting stabbed and continuing as if they will have full use of their bodies. I've seen the results of several knife altercations. getting stabbed or cut is not without consequences. also, too many of your situations allow the attacker to get too close to the defender. one person even backed into the wall before he got attacked.

good intensity but the situations need to be revised.

  • pressure testing is the only way to know if your martial arts will work without actually getting into a real knife fight. Nice training.

  • Well done, guys!

  • Fights always end up in the ground. I've been in Karate for 8 years, and all of the fights I had outside of karate always end up in a jumbled mess like this, knife or not (usually in school or in the neighborhood, it's called the wrong place and wrong time), maybe I've used it once per fight and that was at the beginning or end, a kick or grasp and that's it.

Best technique is the oldest of all and it's been around longer than any martial art; run away! That's right, the flee button.

  • i like the the realism (use of reasons why the attackers are cross and full speed attacks) however like others have said there seems to be no technique in the actual defence and control of the weapon hand

  • lol that looks fun

  • the best knife defence is a gun

  • WHY ARENT THEY DISARMING HIM OF THE KINFE?!?!?!?!!!!!

  • Interesting practice, but In a real situation like that If I were approached buy someone that closely with there arms down like that I would strike them before they even had a chance to draw the knife. Anyone trying to come that close to me with their arms hidden raises way to many red flags.

  • LMFAO 2:48 "Fuck it Im outta here!"

  • Wow. Very realistic way to train - more martial arts should do some of this. (It might actually help them.)

  • @phones7eat7ppl This is not realistic at all. So many valid target in life threatening siltation are no exploited (and rightly so for safety reason). Sure it it very manly and impressive looking at first, but it is no where near as realist as real martial art. In short, this the perfect example of bullshido. Worst then the Ki master, because it provide a false sense of confidence.

  • @newtubetubetube Yeah - I phrased my comment incorrectly. I like the INTENSITY they use. The actual self defense - horrible. It's not impressive-looking at all, they look like a sloppy mess. But all too often I think, classes like basic karate or aikido, etc, teach in such an organized, unrealistic manner (for example, the Ki master) that they forget that rarely are real fights neat and clean like in a class. But I completely agree with you - too much testosterone and not enough martial art. ;)

  • this is what prepares you for real life. "Buddy, you better put the knife away."

  • That looks fun!

  • Good session!

BUT, after the first stab or cut my priority would have been to mitigate damage by trying to control the knife hand, biting the arm etc. to get him to release the knife to either use it against him or toss it away from the fight; then he's screwed if you have a ground game!

  • Every single world class knife kali instructor advises that you control the knife first. FACT!

  • defender gets stabbed in every situation in these trainings

  • Fail....he is dead as he did not control space or knife first choice is run second control the knife..tut tut tut

  • SWEET !!!!

  • first rule: catch the hand with the knife! complete failure in this training, just brutal. second rule: keep distance. nobody comes to me within boxing range ;)

third rule: attack weak points on the target like the balls!

  • @chaptereleven11 Funny enough, in a real life or death situation, it doesn't work that easily. Your naiveness is evident in your comments.

  • @MadamKouassi I should have said it in an other way! first rule is the distance ;)

there is no distance in all of the situations, i mean BEFORE the guy attacks. they always let come him in boxing range, too dangerous, even when he has not a knife.

    this video is just brutal.

for your better understanding: watch the paul vunak video

  • Amazing training!...very real and makes you really think about what works.

Except I think I would attack if a person got in my face with the abusive language even before the weapon came out.

  • @BigRoma1 ida done the same. tell ya what, its liberating that you dont have to be so detached w/ "self-control" that u let a potentially violent jerk walk on you.

  • Comment removed

  • @bludluva

My mind set is pro-active. Hit first, fast, hit hard, and when he is down run away.

  • just messy i hate the guys that say this is martial arts . in martial arts this would have been delt with with a face strike and run or groin kick.

  • and yes you will get cut up if you go toe to toe with a knife attacker, but hopefully your just going to have what we call defensive wounds on your arms. The fact that you have those is also something that will help you in court after you shoot the attacker.

  • this doesn’t show you a whole lot if you carry a fire arm (like many of us do in the usa) then you need to worry about ALWAYS keeping the minimum safe distance between you and a hostile individual as long as you can do that, you should be able to disable an attack from a knife. Also this video doesn’t really show you the proper blocks for a knife fight, most people say there are 5 main ones and the goal is to get them off balance so you can get to your minimum safe distance to draw your firearm

  • I love this.. this is true an honest!

  • This who make Thubs down are surly the fucks who learned that the knife attacker will go at you with slowmotion and you will kick his ass matrix style

  • Quite possibly this best work of this type I have ever seen !

  • create distance and run haha

  • Congratulations, good and realistic video. To improve the training, put in the blade something that marks the guys clothes or body and you can actually see where the hits happened. Must of the ground fights would last one or two seconds; one deep stab is almost allways enough to stop any attacker / opponent.

  • Congratulations, good and realistic video. To improve the training, put in the blade something that marks the guys clothes or body and you can actually see where the hits happened. Must of the ground fights would last one or two seconds; one deep stab is almost allways enough to stop any attacker / opponent.

  • This is the best way to test it. Keep in mind that your opponent will not be expecting such retaliation and you will more likely be able to more easily take control.

  • Its good to see training against resisting opponents. However, if I had a criticism it would be that you are training for failure as opposed to success, which is highlighted by the fact pretty much everyone ends up dead meat in this video. There is no way any of these attackers should get that close or that aggressive, they should be put away, and you certainly shouldnt wait for a blade to be pulled which is just inviting failure. I think you need to give your defenders more empowerment.

  • good training technique,,i know thats real happen, but dont wait someone touch u,,,,that is called touch move for me...

  • good training technique,,,

  • Love you guys! :-) Very nice training an plz check out my videos! :-)

  • This is actually one of the better knife defence vids i've seen, it's pretty realistic. It's very unlikely that you are going to pull of a very beautiful looking fluid disarm like you see on TV or most vids done in quite frankly "fairytale" scenarios. It's true that you ARE going to get slashed. The trick is to limit them to the less vital areas, i.e the gut, the chest, the face or inner leg/ crotch region. And only attempt disarms if u cant escape, or havent the time to pick up a weapon.

  • Only way to get out of it alive is to strike first, while he is still in the yelling and arguing phase (like in the scenarios you guys practiced), but in order to do so, you need to be on your toes, and just know when shit is gonna get ugly. If he surprises you, and just starts stabbing, you probably know why someone wants you dead, you screwed with the wrong crowd. But if you can get in a hit before he gets his knife out, or if he just wants to scare you, you have a chance to live...

  • I'm stayin in and watching the wire on dvd I think. got some pudding in the fridge

  • Knife Defense is HARD. I would rather face a gun at these ranges... I begin all my Knife Defense classes with the lecture that says: YOU WILL BE CUT, YOU WILL BE STABBED! Forget any hocus pocus you see on TV... If you have no choice and enter into a Knife fight unarmed the odds of you surviving are slim, and surviving uninjured almost zero. Against a determined person with a knife, even if they are unskilled, you WILL be cut. As soon as you see the knife, you run, or look for a weapon and run

  • @D3mang3l Well if you're stabbed, depending on where and how deeply, generally it's over. Cuts are fine though.

  • @Gumbi1012 I dunno about cuts being fine... Even a paper cut can seriously inhibit your ability to fight if it's in the right part of your hand. The good thing about this kind of lesson for knives is learning just how dangerous it is. That even a small cut can ruin your whole day. The hard part to teach is to teach the students to try and ignore the wound and run/fight back even though a tendon or muscle might be cut, or gut stabbed... Honestly, nobody knows how they will react to this... :(

  • @D3mang3l They're not really fine at all. My point was that a stab i a lot more dangerous than a cut.

  • @Gumbi1012 Sorry :) Misread your point then :) A stab does tend to do more internal damage, yes, this is def true. A cut unless it is a severing one (IE machete or sword lopping off a limb, or something), is variably bad. While a stab, almost anywhere is devastating.

  • "Realistic Knife Defence Training" or better known by it's alternate title:

"What it looks like when you get stabbed to death..."

  • Good video.

  • pmsl johnny just got stabbed

  • The talking, "give me your wallet," etc. made me laugh my ass off. Was that really necessary?

  • they fight like faggots. one punch from me and they would never be the same.

  • @dogbonez

    Lets see you do better.

  • @Akaoushi I have. One time a guy tried to pull a knife on me and I busted his jaw with an overhand right. He fell right into the subway tracks and he was never the same again.

  • @dogbonez

Good for you, you are special.

  • @Akaoushi im boss nigga

  • @dogbonez no you are dumbass.

  • @Akaoushi you mamma dumb and u dumber

  • Title should be realistic death

  • This is good, realistic. Do what the 1st guy did, keep it outside of short range. Don't do what the 2nd and 3rd guys did, grapple with a knife wielder - they died. Number 4 did better, notice his grappling was a throw, not a clinch, hold, or lock. 5 was like 2 and 3. Guy 6 lets him get way too close - he would have been dead if the knife was in hand behind the back rather than in the pocket - but he did really well jamming the deployment of the knife. 5 Stars.

  • This is very realistic. Unless you have extensive training in knife fighting this is what's going to happen. Getting out of an attack uncut is like getting through a boxing match w/out taking a single jab. Nearly impossible.

  • thanks for this vid...you guys have good training for these scenarios... hope you post up more ..

  • good realistic training!!

  • These guys are all DEAD...they will bleed out in minutes. You keep distance....and if they pull a knife you RUN. The odds of surviving a knife attack if the guy wants to kill you is very SLIM.

And if you are cornered , you don't grapple with a guy unless control of the knife is established.

  • True, usually a guy with the knife, you want to run away as fast as you can. However, it is possible that you won't be on your own, you might be with untrained niece, daughter, brother, best friend in which case running isn't an option. If you as a trained person have next to nothing chance, imagine what that relative would have. As far as grappling after you have control, gaining control is what these guys were trying to do, but of course, theory doesn't always equal practicality

  • You make excellent points in your post and I personally agree with them all; got to protect the loved ones. As far as the video goes, though I have to humbly disagree with their approach to knife defense. Bas Rutten and a few others have the approach I'm most in favor of. Since my leg is longer than their arm, a kick to the groin or sternum while blocking or preferably grabbing the attacker's arm with defending arm/ hand first, then your other hand, duck under his secured arm and turn his arm...

  • ...over. Now you are on the outside of his arm, his palm and elbow are pointed up. Put your knee against his elbow and break the arm. I know this sounds brutal, but the attacker put you and or family in serious danger. Also, you've managed to "keep your vital organs safe." I would never close the distance in a knife attack unless I had successfully disarmed the guy and put the knife well out of reach. This technique scares the hell out of me, frankly.

  • These are really good scenarios.

Nothing like the ordinary "Guy stabs at me half heartedly before stopping in mid lunge" knife defence videos

  • Comment removed

  • these attackers should have been ''popped'' long before the first push .

  • if someone has a knife yu should keep your distance not grapple unless you have control of the knife

  • Depends. yes if you can get like ten metres or more away, but if you cannot you are better off in close where you can take control.

  • dont always have to try and control the knife. one smack to the neck or a kick to the groin is fine, keep distance to give kicks and punches and move out when you're too close. the attacker wont just thrust the knife, he'll slash aswell.

  • I think you should not maintain distance. From a distance there's no way to take down the person wielding the knife, but if you get closer (which is ofcourse unnatural) there's a chance of preventing him stabbing you

  • Surely maintaining a safe distance between you and the knife wielder is sensible? If cannot touch you , you obviously wont get stabbed.Anyone who decides to shorten the distance between the knifeman and yourself better know what they are doing. Two possible safe distances are 1. Get behind the knifeman, or be miles away from the guy.The shorter the range where knives are involved is dangerous.

  • A'ight, you've got me there =P. Indeed, when you can escape, do so. Better to prevent a fight then having to face it. But, cornered, he has the advantage when for greater striking range (he has a longer striking range). It depends which martial arts you practice. I learn Silat, where they say you've got to keep the distance close. Luckily I've never been in a knife fight, and I do hope I'll never will. Don't like fights that much =P

  • Here is some advice clock the sumbitch before escalation - save you alot of shanking to the body. Take a up a bit of boxing, left hooks, straight right, right off any insinuation don't wait. Thats the failure here getting into a knife fight without a knife.

  • ahh! that big fella would be good to train with.. and have a beer with, seemed handy with the knife.

  • when the assailent is approaching a PREMTIVE STRIKE is mandatory ....do not wait until attacked!

  • Chopper has been waiting for his money for three weeks mate.

Chopper has a hooker girlfriend with a drug habbit he can't wait that long for his money johnny

Sorry just ain't going to be good enough mate

  • cut Chopper off while on the road sorry just ain't going to be good enough mate

and when Chopper asks for his money you better know where it is

and what ever you do stay away from Chopper's favorite hooker unless you can handle yourself like Simon

  • Simon not only got to shag Chopper Reed's favorite hooker but he survive the Chopper jail cell shank attack

  • again the guy in the red mask sounds like Chopper Reed fliping out over money again and some car that might have a dead body in the boot.

It is chopper and the greek guy with the bum leg and all the gold chains

  • you guys are doing great work

I know from experince the knife work can be insane cardo

hey guys have you tried to experiment with the gathering step?

that is taking a small step in any direction and pulling your legs together.

also with the hand behind the head have any of you tried turning your head away to cause the offending arm to drop into both of your arms into what meny wrestlers call " the russian"

also have any of you guys tried simply short punching the knife arm?

  • the guy in the black shirt and red head gear in 1:43 sounds like Chopper Reed

  • are you guys in New Zealand?

  • I think the best defense in this case is the nike dance

  • Ha... very realistic and fuuny. Good training.

  • excellent training. they don't pretend to have the answers because there really are none. This is a very good demonstration of how fast things can go bad when a knife is involved. Great work again.

  • hahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • It's comforting to know that in a knife fight, all of us will get stabbed.

  • last thing you want to do is end upo on the floor with an armed assailant.. good reaslistic training tho

  • actually if someone is handy with a knife...your best bet is of staying alive is on the ground and keeping you attacker away with your feet/thrust kicks(distance)...yes you will get cut. but your vitals are mostly protected and your assailant can't do much about it.

standing up, best bet is to control the knife hand...but once again is someon really know how to use a knife, you'll never be able to cope with the pure speed.

  • i agree as long as you and ur opponent dont fall to the ground together as in a wrestling position

  • Actually, if someone is handy with a knife your best bet is to pull a gun. Otherwise run, distance is a known weakness of a knife...

  • Or you could run and then shoot them

  • Very good demonstration of what a street knife fight might look like. However it gives no real solution. And I fear that it is suggested to go down with your aggressor (still holding the knife) and that, to me, is the worst thing you can do, right after suicide...

  • Great way to train but only if you know the defense unless this was a demonstration of how they dont know squat about defending against a knife another great video for this is the human weapon krav maga episode from the history channel

  • It's realistic, but they all got stabbed.

  • Cool at least it's more realistic then most of the martial arts stuff on you tube. Nice work guys!

  • at last some guys that attack like it's real, not like "aargh one thrust, I'm an idiot!" which is far from the reality. I hate schools that think the knife guy is stupid and easy to handle, which pretty much includes all the modern "street fighting" disciplines.

  • nice! very nice!!! Good school.

  • This is what we call Jerry Springer style.

  • one is dead if he does thing like that.if there is danger one must not wait but run away if there is no possibilty to run away one must never wait but attack immediately before one can use anything.and not pulling like an idiot and listening what other is talking about.

  • is this a joke

  • No, it's just sad.

  • This is more realistic than anything else I've ever seen.

This is how such fights go down.

  • The big dude scares me O_O

  • Notice how only one guy really tried a decent Judo type take down technique and it actually worked beautifully. None of the other defenders really tried much technique from what I could see although I could be wrong. If I were them I would encorporate some traditional Japanese Jujutsu or Aikido into there knife defense. Those arts comeout of defending against edged weapons ex:swords, tanto, spear. If anything it would definitly teach them to move out off line from the trust and slasher attack.

  • The problem with Jujitsu and Akido is that it involves getting in close and locking up, which will leave you exposed if you're attacked by more than 1 person. I was in such a situation a few weeks ago and distance is key.

  • these people all go stabbed about 1000 times

  • i got lucky! with all adrenalin and i knocked him out, but he never got half a meter close to me otherwise i wouldent be posting this today.. he wanted to wack me for real :x and i agree HIT 1ST!!!! always!! if you see the situation is escalating really bad make sure you get the first big hit.. it makes the diference

  • dosent work! unfortunatly ive had a stituation were a dude hit my girlfriend in the face wen we were walking in the street.. i punched him hard in the face then he pulled a huge kitchen nife and tryed to make new holes in my body, believe me grabing, pulling, grapling, thug-o-war is NOT what u want to do! keep distance with low kicks and punches, even head buts will do, DONT grab him he will make a hole in your kidney... runing for me was not am option cause my gf was layin on the ground...

  • If that shit works im bruce lee waaaaa.

  • nice job guys

  • the guy iun the red head gear at .34 seconds..i mean why not punch him first in the face it wouldnt be hard i doubt he would beable to block it punch then shoot in or hopefully you knock him out

  • i see plenty of times where just before he brings the knife out and attacks ( during the shoving , pushing and yelling) where you could feel threatend and throw a right hook or overhand right and knock the dude out, maybe even an elbow when the dude is in your face yelling...does that not work? why exactly wait for the knife?...but all and all i like the demostrations

  • this is probibly a dumb question, but what is the wire in the middle of the floor?

  • I see the need for a PRE-EMPTIVE Strike. If he's palming a knife and coming forward, shoot him in mid sentence while he' still talkng.

  • the fight at 1.16 was cool

  • See the secret trick to get out of this kind of sticky situation is to pull a .45 and shoot the dumb sonofabitch.

  • The intense verbal confrontation adds a nice realistic touch.

  • thats excellent, i think the best thing they do is actually try and intimidate eachother, show someone what its like to be scared.

u can train day in and day out but if it came down to it u could be too scared to do anything

  • Love this kind of training but really you should give your money when in that situation so teach that it saves lives.

  • now THATS realistic fighting

  • this is good for police training, body guards, security guards and bouncers...

but one thing for sure never attempt to wrestle a knifer.

run instead or if no option and decide to defend yourself, look for an improvise weapon like your t-shirt, towel, rocks or belt and fight like hell. . . . .

  • There training method is excellent. However, they should be train with more destructive attacks, for example, eye strike and throat strikes.

  • dont wrestle with a knife man.. but you guys really train well! tumbs up'!

  • They are really good!

  • if someone is comming up to you like these guys are ("where is my money") u got the wrong friends ;)

but still go and attack first. wether or there is a weapon involved this is serious enough to take the first strike yourself before getting with whatever. someone that aggressive is gonna beat the hell out of you so you gotta do it first. you might not have seen the knife before you KOed the attacker, but if get him KO before he does you live, dispite a weapon

  • Fantastic use of intention and realistic training...but almost all of them would of been kebabbed because they didnt try to control the knife hand. All the same techniques and takedowns can be applied while still maintaining as much control over the knife as possible. Most of the guys went tried controlling the body instead.

Still good to see that there are ppl who actually pressure test. So many systems just dont, which depresses me!

  • haha These videos are really funny. They should do a movie about them. Win Even If You're Stabbed 50 Times.

You don't back away. You either run or circle. They forget, it's not like punching where you can take a few blows and counter. You have to stop being *touched* by the blade. That sometimes means getting hold of the wrist.

  • 1:20 is poetry in motion.

  • great training method

  • At o:42 he made the mistake of clinching just like a student of mine did recently.Keep the distance & when ready grab & smother the knife hand then counter assault if you can.

  • I like this training because it in "real" time. Not slow motion bull I looks like a real fight. But fighting a knife? Not unless I have to. Why? Because a Knife would have stopped or slowed you at 0:28 0:40 1:42 2:46. He did make it at 1:28.

I think the Tasmanian Devil wins this one 3:53

  • Don't ever wrestle some one with a knife, thats just plain stupid and try not to get cornered. Running away is always option number #1. If you can't run away then you are probably pretty screwed but what I would personally do is give him a straight right square on his nose to phase him, THEN run away :D !

  • ummm... what the hell just happened... all i saw was the defender trying to grapple an attacker with a knife... you had a better chance running than staying there and getting shanked, lol... was this class based on county jail scenarios?... other than that good job and keep training..

  • What the hell is the defender trying to do put the offender into a shock mode by slapping him? Lol.
