  • That women's eyes are too close together.

    I love her..but...um yea

  • @twigirl129 I agree >.< her makeup artist should do something about it =/ But I love ur voice =)

  • wish she was my mom!!

  • 15 and i still wanna see this movie!!!!

wait though i bet they would have made WAY more money if the sent it to the theaters.........

  • they should make Melody's adventures like they did with Ariel. 11 years later i think it's too late though... :( i liked the second on the most!

  • @miyanagirl do you no where i can get it??????

  • they screwed up the trilogy. the first should have been the second. the second should have been the last. the last should have been the first. i liked the second one the most. the last one was nothing like the original. oh. and where were Ariel's sisters when their niece went missing!! don't wanna be miss rain cloud here but Athena was crushed to death by Hooks' ship.

  • @miyanagirl well i was like 5 when the second one came out.

  • I think that the ship that killed Ariel's mother was Captain Hook's. He was looking for Peter Pan and thought he may find him by "crashing" the merpeople's party.

  • NOTHING is like the original

  • @AnalieSkywind way better than the little mermaid 2 though!

  • @DvilsAngel117790 Better than the second, yes, but I still liked the second pretty well.

  • Um....I think that Ariel's mom was killed by that ship, not "abducted", but I guess they can't really say that...Omg I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! I was as close to the original as there ever gonna get! I enjoyed seeing more of Ariels sisters, and missed them in the second movie (Where were they when their niece Melody went missing...hmmmm) . I loved the look into Ariel's past, and before had often wondered about Ariel's mom. This was AMAZING!

  • ariel has a pure voice

  • Either Ariel's mom got hit or she got harpooned...

  • ariels mom got hit by a pirate ship...ummm

  • I love Jodi Benson. She is an amazing voice actress and sings so beautifully. I also think it is really great the she is Ariel's voice in every incarnation of the character (the series, sequels, etc.) it's obvious that she really loves the movies and the character very much.

  • She's so beautiful!

  • My GOD her eyes are close together... If Ariel looked like this Eric would have stuck with Ursula!

  • @Tactual cool story bro

  • jodi benson is attractive and even if she wasn't attractive appearance wise she'd still be attractive because of her personality and her beautiful singing voice. she rocks.

  • she's stunning.

  • Part 3 was a massive improvement from the disaster that was part 2.....but as pretty much everyone voiced, still nothing close to the original.

  • Isn't she also the voice of Barbie in Toy Story?

  • @MissLilSummer yes toy story 2 and 3.

  • Though I also think Ursula's leaving should have been explained, but if I'm remembering it right (and I might not as it was a while since I saw the first movie) Ariel had never really met Ursula before she went to her to get her legs (?) So it would be wierd if she was in a prequel where she did.

  • @D3unan

I believe Ursula ruled the ocean and King Triton overthrew her. She said something like "While he and his fishfolk celebrate" which gave me the impression she hated merpeople.

  • When I saw the third movie, I was only disappointed by the fact that it didn't comply with the series. Besides that it was a cute little movie when I decided to shut off my brain's complaints and enjoyed it. :)

  • This movie had nothing on the original. Nothing at all. The writing was crap, and there was nothing in it that anyone over the age of four could appreciate.

  • @EternityThought Yeah you are right! I think that the only thing that saved this film (TLM 3) from being a complete SHIT was the funny crab Sebastian LOOOOL

  • Jodi's prayers did come true for me. I did indeed watch the movie and think, "omg, that reminds me of the first movie!" I was a little disappointed with some things, like the character design for Athena (Ariel's mother) I was expecting her to look a little more like her other daughters. And I kinda prefer how Ariel and Flounder met in the TV Show, as opposed to the movie. But I do very much enjoy the movie, and it bought back wonderful memories for me. =)

  • Rob Paulsen :-)

  • I don't think the musical score for this movie can compare to either of the other two. It just wasn't as memorable. But it was a nice, fun movie all around.

  • Jodi Benson huh i bet she is good actress i was never a big fan of her

  • Jodi Benson replaced Bridget Fonda for the voice of Jenna on

    the 2 sequels of Balto.

  • @jackiehallam62

replaced? all together? or did something happen where Bridget Fonda couldn't continue through the movie?

  • I thought that Ursula had once lived in the palace. Why was she banished? And, didn't Disney say that they were going to try to get Ursula in the prequel? I heard somewhere that they wanted to make Ursula King Triton's sister...? I dunno.

Anyway, The Little Mermaid has always been my fvaourite movie of all time. And I'm so thrilled with the prequel! I'm in love with all three!

  • Her prayers are answered! The movie brought back WONDERFUL memories!!! I love the entire trilogy!!

  • OMG! I love this woman. I remember when I was little and I first watched the movie when it came out in Spain. It was dubbed. And one day I decided to watch the original version and i was like º_º AMAZING VOICE!

  • I saw this movie, and I could not understd why they did not have Ursula in it. I mean where did she come from? That was one thing they left out of the movie, (why I don't know) But they still should have explained where she came from.

  • Yeah! Even in the original, Ursula refers to her time living in the palace the first time she is introduced into the film.

  • @maleficentdiva

I figured that she was ursulas mother!

  • Wait for Part4. Ursula's Beginning.

  • Jodi also does the voice of thumbelina

  • @AngelicAcid453 Also the voice of Barbie in Toy Story 2 and will be in Toy Story 3, also she plays a part in Enchanted. I met her back in 2004, she is an amazing woman.

  • I remember being a kid in the late 80's/early 90's...when the original Little Mermaid came out. Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel) made an appearance in Corpus Christi,TX at the Corpus Christi Bayfront Aquarium to promote the movie. I was so excited! Didn't meet her personally, but I got a glimpse of her as she signed autographs. (we stood in line for 31/2 hours come to think of it!) I was only 7 or 8...can't remember it all that well...I'm almost 28 now! lol

  • she doesnt sound like ariel a bit haha

lovely voice though i envy her

my voice was big and horrible

    and im only 14

  • i know... she has almost a low voice when she talks but such a high voice when she sings

  • Yup! I remember watching it when I was a little girl. :).

  • ariels mom was killed by a pirate ship.

i have the movie and it really is good

  • well jodi benson still does acting she was in enchanted as the manin characters secretary

  • I have a question.Dose anyone KNOW what happen to Jodi Benson after she did The Little Mermaid and Toy Story???What is she doing NOW? Anyone knows please tell me Im such a fan of hers.Thanks.

  • Well, Toy Story 3 is probably the most recent thing. It hasn't released yet, so she might still be working, but I'm pretty sure they're done.

I heard in an interview once that she sings on tours sometimes. I think, for the most part though, that she just spends time with family now. I dunno! That was all a guess haha. I'm sure you could find a list of her credited work online somewhere.

  • when did she do toy story? who's voice?

  • she was Barbie

  • really barbie ? i didnt no that lol

  • No more sequels, prequels, etc...and nothing can compare to the greatness of The Little Mermaid (1989) I was there when it came out in theaters and it was awesome..I felt like I was part of something big...and I was..the new wave of 1990's Disney movies can never again be repeated

  • i wish i were there in1989 but i birth that year

  • i thought the movie was adorable. the only thing i was confused about was i thought they were going to explain why usula got exiled from the palace.

  • Exactly...they should have explained why Ursula was banished from the Palacebut come on, think about it and its easy to know why - she became a sea witch! She went from good to evil and became a big threat to King Triton..she wanted power that didnt belong to her..to rule the ocean....

  • i know that she became a sea witch, but they could have explained what exactlly happened.

  • I haven't seen it, so I'm not real sure, but it sounds like that's explained a lot more in the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid.

  • I still don't get how she's Triton's sister but she's a Squid.

    Very confusing.

IO knwo it's not in the movie.

I haven't seen this one but I would like to just to see what it's about.

    What happened to Ariels Mom?

    X's

  • Ariels mom got crushed by a ship.

  • Yes, it looked like Ariel's mother was killed. The only thing that Sebastian said was that 'she was lost to us...' I guess it was putting it lightly that she was killed.

  • Omg Jodi Benson is amazing!!!! I have her autograph!!! She has the most beautiful voice i've ever heard

  • what she says in the beggining thats what it made me think and feel.

+ her mother wasn't abducted, she was killed O.o

  • jodi <3 xx

  • Abduction of Ariel's mother? Not to be depressing or anything but I watched this with the kids I babysit and I got the impression that Ariel's mom was hit by a pirate ship....

    just sayin'.

  • that's what i thought too!! thats what it looked like

  • yeah she was

  • @Andiscribbles

she was, I think this is old, cuz I'm pretty sure this whole story board isn't even in the film either.

  • @Andiscribbles me too

  • @Andiscribbles they said she got kiddnapped

  • my goodness jodi benson is so pretty!

  • ok people i think you all should stop fighting over this movie i mean cant we all just agree jodi benson did a good job on Ariels voice and tht the movie was awesome?

  • jodi benson is the only abolutely only person who could ever do arials voice. shes the legendary ariel my favourite disney character who no one could do better at.

  • She's always been the only voice of Ariel. She was 28 when Little Mermaid came out in 1989.

  • I really don't understand how you can say that.. I mean, yeah, you've heard someone else in a dubbed version. But you can't say Jodi Benson's voice isn't good for Ariel. She is Ariel's voice. As it's been said, she has been since the very beginning.

  • She has been Ariel's voice. There has never been another English voice for Ariel. There is no way that it isn't good enough. Because there has never been another one. Yes, in your dubbed version or whatever it is that you're going on about, there was another voice for Ariel. But Jodi is the only voice of Ariel, the official character. She's been the voice in the movies, the TV shows, the songs, everything.

  • You can't say that it isn't good enough. Because there has never been another person to do it. She never replaced anyone, so she wasn't better than anyone. No one else has ever done the voice of Ariel, so no one has been a better voice for her. You have nothing to compare her voice to but some dubbed version of the movie. There is no way that it even makes sense for you to say that her voice isn't good enough.

  • Because the fucking characters are supposed to be older! Are you really trying to make fun of CLASSIC Disney movies??!! Because you sound like an idiot!! You are pathetic! Please take your useless comments somewhere else!!

  • once again! your points are meaningless! how the hell do you have the authority to say if those voices were right or not??! Really! i wanna know! where do you work? How do you know if the voices were too old?? Your ridiculous!

  • Nothing beats the original. I adore that movie but the third one was pretty good too.

  • I hope by that you're not refering to original voices as well, are you? You're not saying nothing can beat the original vocies, right?

  • No I meant the movie. The first movie with the original story, before Melody or anything else. I meant nothing can beat it's phenomenal story. But Jodi Benson is the voice of Ariel in all three movies and most of Ariel's appearances in songs and shows. Do you not like her?

  • No matter how many movies disney makes Jodi nothing on this earth will ever beat out that first one.....

  • wow jodi is all decked out there....I think ms benson looks better with red hair(on platinum edition of mermaid).

  • God, I love Jodi, don't listen to your haters, they're stupid! I loved the third movie!

  • I think she'll always look prettier with the Ariel hair

  • Yep!

  • why didn't alan menken compose ariels beginning?

  • ahh he dead?

  • alan menken isn't dead....Howard Ashman, the lyricist, died in the early 90s when they were making aladdin. alan menken is disney's most famous composer.

  • Howard died shortly after the making of beauty and the beast(if im not wrong)

  • i think you are right. because he wrote the lyrics to the songs in beast, i think tim rice stepped in halfway through aladdin?the plot for aladdin changed after howard died.

  • It was actually during the middle of Beauty and the Beast but...

  • I cant even remember what I said so, I looked it up.....Your right on that I believe. Props!!!!!!!!!

  • Live for ever

  • I think it's so sweet that Jodi wanted the viewers to have that special feeling that was brought to them in the original. I thought Ariel's Beginning was good :)

  • u already saw the movie!? the third one!???!? when was it premiered!? wheeeeeeeeeen!!!!? i didnt get if the release was goin to be in theaters or on dvds.... :P

  • it's already on sale. even in the Netherlands. i think it was in september in the USA/UK

  • Her mother didn't get Abducted? She was killed.

  • I just watched it last night. I liked it, but neither of the sequels live up to the original. I really like the animation, though. The colors were really bold and bright and I think Disney captured the whole essence of what Ariel's mom was like and how much Ariel has to have music. I totally identify with her on that. I find sometimes that if I am not feeling all that great, all it takes is a little bit of music to make me feel so much better.

  • That sounds awesome Jodi Benson! I remember watching the original Ariel and being completely submerged by the great storyline when I was a little kid. Then there have been some bad interpretations of ariel. I will look out for Ariel's Beginning !

  • Dont talk about Jodi Benson that way....Your an idiot!

  • Yeah, be nice to Mrs. Benson. She's a beautiful woman!!! A Christian woman, among other things. And what's happened to her face is call "aging." How can you say something like that about her?

  • Agreed.
