I'm worried primarily about the precedent that allowing polygamy to exist would set. By ignoring all polygamist because of religious freedoms and human and civil rights, you would be ignoring all the victims of polygamy; namely the children and the women.

Gay marriage should be the first, last and only step to altering marriage because it serves the purpose of population control, upholds the principle of monogamy and the economy benefits. Polygamy will do the complete opposite.
