  • DONT HATE APPRECIATE! I like my Pintos I like my V-Dubs and this commercial is a bit dumb VEGAS SUCK! down with Chevy

  • You'll spend that $367 replacing the radiator and other repairs in a few years, Pinto buyers. Did you know that?

  • (Narrator) but the Ford Pinto explodes if you whack it hard enough, buy Volkswagen!

  • Narrator: "I was being sarcastic"

Dumbass: "I did not know that!"

  • you might have 13 different small cars...,

but VW sold over 21500000 beetles!!! beat that!!!

  • well i am sure they didnt know about getting rearended kaboom

  • Ok everyone calm down. Both cars are good, sold well, were reliable, and are now both classics. I have a Pinto myself, but I would definitely buy a Beetle or a Super Beetle if the price was right. Anyway, stop making cheap shots about the gas tank of a pinto, because if I remember right, the Beetle was an airtight car who's heater had a tendency to pump carbon monoxide? Every car has their problems, but these are two good cars here.

  • i would rather pay the extra $367 than burn to death .but thats just my opinion ;)

  • oh he for got some thing, PINTOS ARE SHIT!!!!!!! VW NO CONTEST!!!

  • @madmaxedwards2 your a moron only the 71 model did it

  • Il take the pinto far more reliable easier to get parts for.

  • Boo!!!!!! id by a beetle! than a pinto!

  • Pinto = KABOOM!

  • @juantrippe82 NO! IT FUCKING DOES NOT!!!!! Pinto 71 only goes kaboom CHECK YOUR FACTS FAG!!!!!!

  • @scooterdude1945 Wow, well done. Did you rub your last two brain cells together to come up with that?

  • @juantrippe82 lol NO! I USED MY LAST THREE!!!!!!

  • @juantrippe82 lol

  • @scooterdude1945 fag?! you dare call a person a fag when you stick up for a cheap ass death-trap on wheels? the beatle is famous for being cheap, reliable, low maitinance, and has sold billions. oh and they are wayyyyyy more safe than the little shit box on wheels named after a bean .the vw`s commercials were all about improvements, and quallityas for ford they just hopped on the bandwagon .and it amazes me that they would attack a car the has been around for over 30 years .

  • @gokartbuyer I bet you 50 bucks if I rearended the bug with a dump truck going 85 it would explode...... that was how all the pintos exploded if you dont wanna look up history and read what fucking fatasses in camaros read be my guest but the pinto only exploded from 71 to 72 and was safe after that so dont look up your facts you ignorant bastard btw I own a vw there the best fucking car I ever drove Im just saying that a pinto isnt a fucking death trap if anything a fuckin toyotas a death trap

  • @scooterdude1945 Sorry to bother you, but ehm... Shall we try to watch our language a little..?

  • @scooterdude1945 i bet you it wouldn`t because the gas tank filler was mounted in the front and the tank was closer towards the middle.and where would there be a senario where a dumptruck is doing 85 and rearending a bug? dumptruck don`t usually do 85 because of the loads they carry ,its like saying a school bus would be doing 85, its practically the top speed because of weight .do your fucking research! i agree on the toyota part though toyota moving forward ,even if you don`t want it too.

  • @gokartbuyer Ok say this your in your lil 73 below pinto on a freeway doing say highwayspeeds on the pacific coast highway which is around 70-75 mph and say a 3 ton dumptruck going 75 comes trailin up behind you and rams your rearend does that not say your going to explode even in a freaking bug shit happens man Bugs are pretty kick ass but im a die hard ford fan so I would rather drive a pinto... anyways they still fixed the problem and anyways every pinto I owned never had a stock fuel tank...

  • Am I the only one who thinks that 0:17 looks like a mafia hit?

  • I didn't know that

  • Pinto wasn't so bad but Beetle/Super Beetle will always be better.

  • i would go with the 68 Datsun 510

  • watch FLASH OF GENIUS the film and then you will never EVER trust ford again.GO THE BEETLE!!

  • The VW Bug has out live any Pinto ever made.

  • el VW es el mejor

  • this car is gay if you "didn't know that" then ur gay 2

  • @Patsbug66 which one?

  • @fordslem the explosive one XD

  • Consider Ford's little Pinto? Are you insane? Just compairing it to the legendary Volkswagen it's kind of sin.

  • @briagadaress Well I can understand you but there is no compettion Fords fast so is a beetle the beetle is classic pinto is too lol there too of the best tiny cars

  • lol i had a ford pinto for my first car .then i teast drove a vw bug and was hooked.

    i love my vws

  • Yeah, For $400 less i'd like a hunk of crap ford over a very good German engineered Volkswagen bug/beetle, Vw is and always be my favorite car and no other can compare!

  • this is forbidden!!!!!!!

  • ah the good old days when you could tell lies and get away with it... one thing that Ford forgot to mention was that it was true that the pinto cost les then a beatle ... as long a you did not mind small things no beening on the car.. like eat belts, rear seats, safty glass, rear bumpers, heater, radios ect ect ect! the beatle came with all these fitted as standard!as for the safety? none exsistant!

  • At least the VW Beetle doesn't go BOOM like the Ford Pinto

  • I didn`t know that....

  • Haha... the chick stops wallpapering and looks disturbed - " I didn't know that!"

If anything can distract you from the rewarding task of wallpapering, it must be earth-shaking information.

  • lol

  • "gas stingey" lol!

  • Hum wonder which car is worth more today? A mint condition Pinto or a mint condition Super Beatle?

Hint: Its the one that doesnt explode when you touch the rear bumper

  • They stopped making Pintos after about 3 years after they made them because so many people were getting hurt. The engines would blow and they were just junk! I love my 68' Bug!

  • You are misinformed- Pintos were produced from 1971 thro 1980 model year. Drove VW beetles out of the US market!

  • Screeeech WHAM BOOM! If you hear those three sounds, you know it is a pinto.

I own a '68 Beetle, it may be on its third engine but it has not rusted sh**less. It has one tiny spot of bondo on the roof. Show me a Pinto that has given the same treatment, there will not be much left.

  • Volkswagens also don't blow up when you rear end them..

  • I didn't think Pintos outsold all VW models during the 70's!

  • You get what you pay for. Note how they compared the price of a base model Pinto to a Super Beetle and not a standard Beetle.

  • and how many pintos do you see on the roads today... that's right, almost none, as they were bombs on wheels. and come on, the bug has more personality than any other car i've seen.

  • Buy a pinto and blow up! I think I'd take the Beetle.

I think this is real footage of a gremlin! YIKES THAT'S CREEPY!

  • what the hell is on the mercury sign at the last couple seconds?!?!?!?

  • looks like a dog lol

  • Mercury's tag line back then was "sign of the cat." Mercury Bobcat (Pinto), Mercury Cougar (Thunderbird), and even later the Sable. (probably others i'm forgetting) With fuel economy push, they changed it slightly to "sign of the little cat". That's what it is on top of the sign, a little cat!

  • Indeed a strange way to sell cars. The difference was that the Beetle could sell itself, the Japanese could too in those days. But the Pinto... not really. And it somehow shows in this commercial.

  • I'd still take a bug even over odd Japanese cars, most of the Japanese cars sold back then either borrowed designs from American cars or European infact one of their Toyotas looked pretty similar to a Pinto, plus another reason is because of easier parts to find and I can trust a VW to get me around.

  • I would too, Japanese cars aren't really my thing either. Even todays Jap cars.

  • Todays Japanese cars are kinda bland, I'm suprised few have noticed how the Scion XB looks just like a lowered Chevy Astro. Above all cars though I'd take an old Tatra 777, Czechs "secret weapon".

  • Actually, $350 in 1971 is about two grand today. That's significant. Still, in 20/20 hindsight, the VW is still worth the extra money.

  • It might have been cheaper but come on, a Pinto or a Beetle....... The Beetle was a much better car in so many ways.

  • The commercial didn't mention that Pintos blew up more than the Super Beetle! BOOM!
