well,i just wanna say here-i never understood, why heifetz became the star, and this guy not.this was better violinist than heifetz for me...I don´t believe Heifetz could do anything,Francescatti couldn´t.Besides,he was much more Musical than Heifetz.
Vengerov, from what I've listened to, tends to play very heavily... ALL of the time. While his Symphonie Espagnole sounds as shockingly powerful as I could possibly hope for, this isn't a piece I would want to hear him play.
Francescatti's seamlessness and clarity, no matter what he's playing, is a quality I haven't yet seen matched.
Zino Francescatti was a late bloomer, but he became I think, one of the top two violinists of his generation, the other being none other than Jascha Heifetz. Francescatti was only one year younger than Heifetz, but his career lasted longer. His playing was top-notch all the way up into his retirement in his mid-seventies. Zino Francescatti played a violin made by Sanctus Seraphin. He had an impeccable technique and arguably the most beautiful violin tone since Fritz Kreisler.
he rocks people out there

As a child...Mr. Francescatti was my favorite violin soloist and listened to all of his CBS Columbia Masterworks.

Didn't Francescatti play on a Stardivarius? The "Hart ex Francescatti" Stradivarius?

I really like his style of playing... this sort of reminds me of William Grant Still's Danza de Panama (correct title?)
