  • COOL !!!

  • how does it shoot?

  • if you compacted one of these to be hand held and made it more powerful i would buy it from you

  • if you compacted one of these to be hand held i would buy it from you

  • building my first coil gun. how did you know what voltage to stop charging and fire at??? (since you were monitoring with a multimeter)

  • that was cool! now go "Borrow" a high speed camera from around the university and post again :D

  • the way u pushed the metal piece in was kinda freaky with the stick

  • Dam your a technician that could rule the world with these

  • My buddy made one of those, shot screws and stuff.

  • oola

  • Is there any way to make it so that you can wield it in your hand?

  • @The1andonlyCandyMan after your around capacitors for a couple minutes, you will probably shock yourself. after that, you'll know why he doesnt hold it. i have a bank of 10- 120 uf capacitors, and i dont even like being around it when its charged

  • you should talk in your videos to give people a better understanding of what exactly you are trying to do

  • i am making one too..thnx for posting here. appreciate that,

  • how does the charge curcuit work??

  • that's weak

  • could you plz give a reference or a web site that's explain the concept of the coil gun and how to connect this circuit for my magnetic project

  • LETS SEE THE BLUEPRINT PLZZZZZZZ

  • excellent now thats what i'd call a baby version of a rail gun mind sharing the blueprints with us??? or tell us how to make one. excellent a recoilless silent gun now we just need to miniaturize it. it lacks firepower but im sure that'll change

  • learn what a rail gun is!

  • umm why exactly is that??? i think i have plenty knowledge of rail guns

  • coilgun and railgun are 2 different types of gun

  • really? like what difference do they have??? they all use magnetism dont they???

  • Comment removed

  • that was the worst encouragement i have ever seen. You suck.

  • love yourself some more

  • "i could do a better job" don't you hear how ridiculous you sound? Do it then

  • you know what get a life!

  • I could say the same about you. But the difference between us two is that i already have a life but you obviously need to get one instead of bragging on youtube like a 13 year old.

  • Can you say how to build it or some schema?

  • enough to show that you have no brains to figure he probably gets paid to do it or sells it to make, what you cant make, money

  • i would love to see you figure something like this out. Oh wait, you can't, you don't have the intelligence, which is why you came on here to insult someone who created something you can't comprehend.

  • can u send me a blueprint am into this sorta stuff

  • whatever happend to good old fastion american bullets lol na its erally cool and i wounder when the milatary will fully develop the rail gun

  • I still think you need to turn it up to mix power, a spitball shot from a straw compares to that performance

  • turn it up to max power, as high as it can possibly go

  • i think its may burn it if u do

  • boom? lawl

  • Anybody interested on 2nd stage schematic, I am more than happy to give it for free. I want everyone to take part on the research for this type of weapon. we wil succeed sooner or later

  • the thing that got me interested was automatic firing. i looked into some xperiments, n came up with an idea that uses mutiple charge circuits, and a motor controled rotary switch. the slowest it can fire is 1 round per second,(it takes 20 secs to charge a circuit, so, 20 circuits, 1 firing each second) but the more circuits, the faster it fires. its primitive, and space consuming, but it works. the only thing that slows it down at a high rpm is the time it takes for each round to load. =D

  • can u send me a blueprint for your idea? It would help me alot.

  • 20secs what kind of circuit? I have a camera circuit that charges in 3 secs. I have been thinking someting similiar too.

  • the charging time depends on what kind of capacitor set up you have, how many capacitors you have in the capacitor bank and what kind of array for the charging circuit. when i was doing some tests with the basic camera circuits, i had two charger circuits in parallel and 5 photo flash capacitors in parallel, it took around 20 seconds to charge fully( since capacitors in parallel increase the capacity, not the voltage, they take longer to fully charge)

  • use a normal circuit just take out the resistor out that leads to the capicator/battery and put it a smaller one, i havent tried this but it may fry the wire, resistor or other components

  • I recently succeeded in making two stage but it failed after a few shots before I could post it. The power was really awesome. Maybe more powerfull than a bb gun. It's under construction when I post it, it may very well be the fastest coil gun in youtube.

  • You don't even need a thyristor since its so small. A good size switch will do the job pretty well. That will cut the cost because thyristor can cost at least ten bucks for this project.

  • The good old US Navy have tested one of these guns, It's range so far is 250 miles. The steel billet impacts the target with such force, explosives are surplus to requirements!.... Now this is exactly the technology we need to launch bundles of hollow rods/rails into low orbit, so as to create an 'Active-Mass' orbital space ring. Then we can hoist billions of tons into orbit with just solar energy.....A futuristic 'Orbiting Space City' is a distinct possibility.

  • correction: you're thinking of a rail gun, both are electromagnetic, but operate on entirely different principles, also the 250 mile range is still purely theoretical.

  • Thanks for the correction, "Rail Gun" was what I intended to say. The range may be 'theoretical', but the 'theory' of ballistics is very robust. The US Navy have studied it for well over two centuries. The projectile could face over-heating problems I admit. i.e. burn up before it reached target.

  • weak

  • this is chubyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • If you could somehow makes one with several stages you can make a much faster bullet

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I'm confused... very, VERY, confused

  • Re:

    It's a coil gun.

Coil guns use magnetism to fire bullets instead of gunpowder.

Not as deadly, but waaayy more cool!

  • Crap editing, but good idea on video

  • fck'n star wars man!!

  • 50 joules? o.O

wouldnt that destroy a the glass easily?

  • That's gotta hurt a hell lot

  • how did you make so that you get all that voltage keep going up?

  • capaciters.

  • did you make the circuit board yourself or did you take it from something else?

    very cool, by the way

  • Yes I make all the part of this experiment

  • no you didn't, that's a camera flash circuit.

  • So? He still put together a load of bits and made something come out of the end just by pressing a button.

  • easy coil gun right here

take paddles off a defibrillator and attach a coil

    done

  • ok iv tryed to make one and it didnt work hod did you make the coil? what type of wore? thanks

  • Use a capacitor thats for car stereo amps :) if it is possible :) 1F is 1 000 000uF if im correct? :)

  • good idea !

  • Those are designed to smooth out power supplies and are usually designed for low voltage as well. The reason people use camera flash caps is because they dump fast, which is crucial with coilguns and such. Also, like all car stereo electronics, 1f capacitors sold for car stereo use cost about 3-5 times as much as the same part bought from a normal electronics store.

  • if you used awg #30 its impossible to have 430 A go through it because that wire's fusing currant is only 10 A, best regards , I though I could go to the moon if I had the super car

  • no no ! it's really 430A in few ms

  • @gilbondfac 430 few secs?ti means that u have fucking kVs going up and down,on that capacitor xD

  • The fusing current is the maximum current sustainable by a wire without it heating up and consequently burning out. Key word: sustainable -- it takes a LOT more energy than that to burn it up in a few milliseconds. The coil would probably be a little warm after firing, but wouldn't have burned up.

  • @arbighookasian That would be a continuous current which creates a large amount of heat. A burst current of that size which only lasts a few ms won't melt the wire, as it won't create much in the way of heat.

  • is it shooting magnets?

  • Lol 7300uF!! I just wanted to say that u need bigger caps until I saw the end :D

  • Lol 7300uF!! I just wanted to say that u need bigger caps until I saw the end :D

  • a little advice try to use the thickest vwires u can for conection from cap bank to coil and and try to make the connetion wire very short as it will make ur efficency even bettrt
