This is probably one in a million where a woman unexpectedly gives birth to TWINS BY SURPRISE. But, this doesn't discredit the wonders and benefits of home waterbirths in a sense. When blessed with our 3rd child years from now, I will have my first waterbirth by then. Don't be scared nor scare the others. Proper knowledge will get you through a successful waterbirth. You have to be in control of your own innate capacity of giving birth. Our bodies will very well adjust, especially in water
im one to say although i wouldn't mind to have a home birth if i was to have a second child but there are benefits of both scenarios. Mind you with my son I could not deliver naturally..so i am glad I was at the hospital. i had experienced labor but i had never had the chance for the birthing experience I wish i could have. There are many different ways and honestly it's a personal choice to whatever way you want to bring that child into the world.
this is my argument on mothers with this stupid idea to have a baby at home, the natural way, oh its how all mothers should do it, yeah well in this case what is the mid wife gonna do now????? ohhhh lets see rush her to the HOSPITAL
@Newyorkgurl20 what did people do 150 years ago? or what do they do in the Amazon? ah...HAVE BABIES...duh...doctors are handy in a pinch but certainly NOT humanities savior!
@certifiedhealthnut O-M-G THANK YOU, you just answered my argument..Nothing stays the same, there are infections, dieases and illnesses popping up that wasnt here 150 years ago evolution things CHANGED.And babies and mothers have died back then, but now there is something called a hospital with better TECHNOLOGY to save unhealthy babies.GET IT!
@Newyorkgurl20 I had both my children at home. One with a midwife and one without, called 'freebirthing'. There's nothing wrong with it and has benefits compared to a hospital. :)
@VizardKusa What benefits? what are the benefits if your baby is sick and your midwife can only perform CPR, or if it is something out of her hands, because no test were performed, how quickly can you get the baby to the hospital.Somethings are just plain common sense
@Newyorkgurl20 - midwives know a lot more than just cpr. most can actually perform an emergency c-section if they ever needed to. they also carry standard medical equipment. please don't throw out 'facts' if you are not sure about them.
@Newyorkgurl20 - actually, the infant mortality rate is higher in American hospitals than for home births. Google it. Also, in the US, we have a higher infant mortality rate than in countries where most births are at home with a trained midwife. The website gentle birth has lots of good information.
@Newyorkgurl20 it's not a stupid idea if you have a normal/low risk pregnancy. It's a more comfortable atmosphere and setting for mother/baby/and whole experience. It is a beautiful gift & experience to enjoy, not something to have surgery for, or go to hospital in lay in a bed. Many women are misinformed & not well educated about homebirths & midwives. Midwives come equipped with the same meds & tools a hospital would have..in case it's needed. Of course, HOSPITALS are for EMERGENCIES, though.
I haven't seen the entire show, but based on this, how on earth did she NOT know she was having twins?! Unless she refused to ever have an ultrasound to check her baby's measurements, how would she not know?
@moonietricks I was wondering the same thing. In Canada, at least, women are generally covered for (I think) two ultrasounds for a healthy pregnancy, one to establish the actual age of the fetus, and another to ensure everything is proceeding normally. And with all those midwives, did none of them ever hear more than one heartbeat, throughout the entire pregnancy?

@Newyorkgurl20 Midwives don't deliver unhealthy babies; they only do low risk pregnancies. High risk pregnancies are always done in the hospital.

@tigerbomb94 yeah, many years ago, women fought for healthcare for realy good reasons, one of them is that women can die from child birth.
We care about eachothers health, so we all pitch in so that its not expensive, taxes covers our health
