  • socialized medicine is lame, i live in new zealand and we have public healthcare, I fell out of the top bunk of my friend's bed and broke my forearm, we went to the emergency room, it was a compound fracture and was bleeding, when we arrived i was given gaus for the bleeding and told to fill out an application form, after this i waited 4 hours to be seen by a nurse, and then another 3 hours by a doctor, the very next day my parents signed me up for southerncross health insurance.

  • @KiwiTomCrawford Dude, from New Zealand but working in a country without socialised welfare. You may think the NZ system sucks, but you don't have a comparison to tell you otherwise...

  • @dafedge2007 well actually my comparision is that i receive much faster treatment and much better treatment through my southerncross health insurance, compared to the public healthcare i was receiving prior, and even then, ive been to australias public healthcare and thats even worse than nz's healthcare.

  • This sicko blob is a compulsive liar and he will die early because he can't control his food intake. That doesn't have anything to do with our health care.

  • How many people risk their lives to get to Cuba? How many people risk their lives to get OUT of Cuba? I had a Cuban girlfriend who was delighted to have escaped from Cuba. She sad that people were banned from studying any philosophy other than Marxism. If Michael Moore thinks Cuba's government is so great why hasn't he moved there? Marxism/Communism doesn't help the poor, it helps the government bureaucratic class.

  • @AntiFascist2011 Dude, you're confusing the argument. The argument is not Marxism is a terrible form of government.... even Moore acknowledges that. The argument is whether it leads to a better form of healthcare. Keep up.

  • @dafedge2007 Here in the UK we have the NHS (National Health Service) which is a free healthcare. It was set up by the Labour Party which was founded as a Christian Socialist party. You don't have to be a Marxist to support better healthcare.

  • Cuba is pathetic and has the average lifespan, health, and standard of living of typical third world countries.

  • I still think we should leave Cuba alone. Why are we still being so horrible to Cubans? It's not hurting the govt of Cuba. It's ONLY hurting the people of Cuba. Same with other nations we mess with.

  • I think Cubans live longer because they have fewer fat people than USA.

  • Michael Moore is a lost soul... he owes the globalists a favor for giving his poorly made DOCUMENTARY films marque status at the movie theaters. Shameful.

  • Michael Moore thinks "prevenative" is a real word.

  • Actually, Castro will have you shot if you're gay. So...In Cuba, NOBODY is gay...at least not officially.

  • Moore - "No, not everyone is happy and not everyone is gay"

  • anything that comes out of hollywood is 99% bullshit

  • LOL 70-80 ABORTIONS A DAY?

    1 abortion is a 6 hour process.

  • @midwestfrag - You are assuming 6 hours when done under industrialized Western standards instead of a 3rd world mill like Cuba.

  • @midwestfrag No it's not.

  • Michael Moore believes what he believes because as many Americans, they believe the free market system is geared towards favoring the rich, and that is the case, but not because the free market is flawed but because the god damn government doles out favors to greedy businesses willing to pay to play, which distorts the entire free market system. Get politcians and government out of the free market and trust me, things will be better.

  • @RightWingTV I'm in general center-right, but if I was a businessman and the free-market truly implemented, what's to stop me from inviting a politician into my home to have dinner?

  • @RightWingTV

Even your comment is too generous towards these people and their failed ideology.

"Favors the rich," as compared to what? As compared to the pre-capitalist world, where highly manufacture activities were aimed only at a tiny clique of landed, military elites, with the rest just barely scraping by through autocratic production? As compared to the socialist dictatorships, where the bureaucracy which constitutes less than a percent of the population own literally -

    -

  • -

    - everyone and everything, and prioritize themselves and their favored interests while the rest suffer poverty, deprivation and death from systematic mismanagement and persecution?

As an institution through time, capitalism is characterized by mass production for the consumption of the masses. It has only ever been practiced to a significantly limited extent or under highly averse conditions, and still it has lifted billions out of poverty.

There is no better than that.

  • A few years ago I met a girl who had backpacked around Cuba, having held a romantic view of the country for years. She said that after a couple of weeks of an idyllic holiday around the usual tourist traps, they decided to go off the beaten track and discover the "real" Cuba, and that what she saw so upset and disgusted her that it changed her political views forever. The poverty and hardship which goes on in that country is heartbreaking. Take a look at TheRealCuba website and see for yourself.

  • I don't believe Moore can possibly believe in the things he says. I think he has just found a great way to make money from ignorant fools who think socialism is a good idea and they buy whatever he is selling.

Anyone willing to go live in a socialist dictatorship in exchange for that extra month of life?

  • @joeysixtysix - Michael Moore and Bill Maher and any other liberal idiot who makes a living off Hollywood dollars will not give up one iota of their lifestyle to live the way they want you to live. It's only for you people, not them. None of them will ever honestly answer questions about that when confronted either. Hypocrites.

  • I'm dirt poor, nothing to eat, sleep on a dirt floor, I live under a dictator but I can go see a DR. on other peoples tax money woohooo go Cuba!

  • If there is a bigger dumbass in the entire world than Michael Moore I have no idea who it would be. World class fool.

  • Stossel is a Patriot. Moore is a Pinhead.

  • so, because of one mistake, you call a man a fraud?

  • In the 13th century they would've been outside his house with pitchforks for being such a fat lousy liar.

  • This is the guy that claims to be from the poor working class Flint when in actuality he grew up in the suburbs where all the industrial managers and owners lived.

  • ugg Moore is so fat and disgusting, why would any intelligent human being take him seriously?

Oh ya, he has a 2 million dollar VACATION HOUSE in Michigan.

  • @Shaymeonyoo I would take anyone seriously if they were making a serious point, regardless of their weight. Or how much money they've accumulated. They still have an opinion.

  • Michael Moore is the size of a dozen Cuban children......He lives in a 2 million dollar lakeside log mansion.

  • I have friends who lived in the USSR during the cold war, and they can tell you nightmare stories about the abyssmal quality of the medical services they had back then. Socialized medicine does NOT work. Remember way back when Boris Yeltzin needed heart surgery? Thats right, he came to the US to get it.

  • @TheBrismoore No disrespect to the Russians here, but the Soviet Union during the cold war isn't quite the best example of glowing government-run medical services. Rather try almost every single country in modern Europe as an example of it working nicely. Again - what do you pay taxes for? If you have to fork out money to look after your needs, why pay taxes?

  • @themachinist1000 "Rather try almost every single country in modern Europe as an example of it working nicely."

Yeah, it's working so well, in fact, that their governments are bankrupted beyond belief and riots are breaking out into the streets. Brilliant!

  • @LedWhisky69 1) I was talking about medical services - I think you got me wrong there (read first part of my post)

    2) Are you talking about places like Greece or the Occupy movements? I will agree that Greece is in a sorry state of affairs. As for Occupy - that's something that's happening all over the Western World. Bit of a different topic!

  • I love how when Stossel catches Moore lying abotu cuba, he trys to shift tactics and focus on canada and the UK! LOL classic Moore bullshit: WHen he gets cause, change his story. Its a wonder he didnt threaten a slander lawsuit!

  • What does "pwns" in the title mean???

  • Stossel is a corporate spokesperson.

  • @mentalphysicalism John Stossel has more integrity than just about anyone else in the media today! He would get my vote if he ran for president or any other higher office! He just makes common sense ... something you obviously don't recognize or possess.

  • @dormantone All of Stossel's integrity is paid for by corporations.

  • @mentalphysicalism Proof please?

  • @TheBrismoore John Stossel.com used to be sponsored by a corporate funded

propaganda organization but is now sponsored by a Republican political organization.

Every story he does supports corporations. If you like corporations and companies

running the US, then Stossel is your man.

  • @mentalphysicalism So Cuba's government run health care system is better than US? Cmon man. Socialism doesnt work. Government run stuff sucks worse than private business.

  • @torr59622 Cmon man read what I said.

  • @torr59622 I completely agree with that - BUT corporation ruled stuff sucks the most of all. I live in England and the concept of having to pay to be sustained (in health terms) by a society that takes a sizeable chunk of your income away for exactly that reason is ridiculous. In the US you pay taxes. Don't you think that you should be getting that money back in terms of health care?

  • Yes, agreed. There needs to be a happy medium do make sure Coorporatism isnt the rule of the land, and its closer to that than a real republic. I like what Whole Foods does with their Health Care. People need to be responsible.

  • American fee for service healthcare paid by third party payers results in over utilization

by the healthcare system. Over usage costs Americans time, money, and suffering.

Americans spend several times as much per capita for health care as socialized medicine

yet don't get better quality of life or higher life expectancy. Comparing poor countries

    to the US is meaningless.

  • All the Moore bashers are willing to believe that a doctor does 70-80 abortions a day. Anything to not believe those flaming libs. I can't wait until you Baby Boomers start dying out. Our Worst Generation. So gullible.

  • @SocialistSteveO YOU are the gullible one!!! Anybody who advocates socialism is a total moron who obviously is not watching what is happening worldwide right now! You've been brainwashed by the liberal mainstream media for so long that you don't recognize TRUTH anymore! Do a little fact-checking as to just how many abortions are performed in this country, China, Japan and the UK!

  • US healthcare is extremely overpriced.

  • saying that US healthcare is the best in the world is like saying that American cars are the best in the world but everyone knows than American cars are rubbish compared to German cars.

  • I like Moore but his last couple of movies have been kind of ridiculous. I think Moore genuinely cares and is smart, he just draws the wrong conclusions a lot of the time. He's not winning an argument with Stossel.

  • I bet you North Korea has Great Health care as well !!!

  • @RSG132 Yea and nobody's fat in North Korea! lol

  • oh my, that man has become shockingly ugly, even more so than before! he needs surgery!...back the fucking camera up!

  • I don't see Michael Moore, that "prophet of the 99%" fleeing the United States to enjoy the the cuban healthcare and other "wonders" of the cuban totalitarian government. Why? Because he's too busy earning, investing, spending and enjoying millions by selling his ideological crap to people, therefore being part of his hated 1%.

  • Micheal Moore is not stupid. He does has an agenda though.

  • @Paragon1324 I agree, he's not stupid. He's what Lenin called a "Useful idiot."

  • "You are like SO 13th Century!"

Michael Mooron is so beyond stupid from indoctrination he's too brain dead to know that privatization didn't exist in the 13th Century. The entire world was either feudal or tribal. You have to be a special kind of stupid to make such a statement and believe it's true. These remarks generally come from the mouths of Hollyweird Libs who know nothing yet blather about everything.

  • @thomaserossi Micheal Moore isn't stupid. He is the epitome of the greedy capitalists he says he hates. He gives people a product they want. Many people in America (and around the world) want to hear a certain message (even if it is a lie) and he provides it and makes a lot of money from it. Dishonest? yes. Greedy? yes. Narcissistic? Yes. Stupid? No. He gets what he wants. The sad thing is that there are people who believe his lies...er....documentaries.

  • @thomaserossi Well there was the yeoman, the middle class so to say! But, the king still could steal their land!

  • @thomaserossi research yourself before you call a man an idiot. privatization existed since the ancient greek era (6th century) when governments gave a private sector a large amount of property such as farms. im not going to call you an idiot, but next time you blast someone with hate and make someone else believe lies, do your research

  • @thomaserossi I truly believe that Michael Moor deserve vacation in North Korea's work camps located in russia (look vice guide to travel)

  • @sebek23b - It will be good for him to lose those 400 pounds around his chin.

  • @thomaserossi Typical Communist response he uses claiming any opposing view point is feudal. Funny how Communism is actually what ends up resembling feudalism.

  • @RolfHartmann - Communism and socialism works for those who are on top and nobody else, just like Monarchy and tribalism.

  • @thomaserossi - Exactly. Private enterprise and corporations is something that did not exist in the middle ages. Michael Moore is truly the biggest idiot ever.

  • @thomaserossi You just made biggest moron on the net.

  • cuba is no different from a formerly universaly acknowledged super power with massive armies, nuclear rockets, huge submarines and fleets of fighter and bombers planes controlling almost one third of the world by its ideology only to fall on its face when its vaunted economy collapsed finally. then all the lies were exposed. it was called the soviet union.

  • John Stossel, you are a propaganda man. You do not believe Cubans in Cuba but you believe Cubans in USA. I wander; who has more reasons to lie?

  • @cosmopolite66 Seems obvious Cubans IN Cuba have more reason to lie. Cubans in the USA can say whatever truth they want about Cuba without concern for how either government will like it.

  • @skidancin Do you think if some immigrant from Cuba speak for Castro he will be shown on TV? When you pull out arguments use your brains. These Cubans you see here speaking out MUST be part of the propaganda, otherwise no one will show them. If you did not get how US propaganda works, what do you know at all. Watch TV channel Russia Today (done by all Americans) and see now many Americans speak out the truth and you'll never see them on the cable media. freedom of speech in the closet...

  • @cosmopolite66 I have no idea what you said. Completely and utterly incoherent.

  • @cosmopolite66 Ok, so you think one of the poorest countries in the world has better health care than...everybody? If you look at what Cuba reports their healthcare is second to none. Yet they are the poorest country. It is amazing how Cuba is such a wonderful place but for some reason they won't let you film just anywhere. Fool.

  • title fail

  • Once I was convinced about marxism and that Cuba actually had the best healthcare system in the Americas. Then I went there twice and saw the truth. That is just plain false propaganda. Michael Moore is a prick who has become very wealthy defending false socialist crap.

  • @chechitopaisa - Michael Moore makes about $50-60 million per movie and flies on private jets while decrying the rich for being criminals. I would say he definitely belongs in the 1% that he is rallying against, no?

  • Yeah, Stossel is an idtiot, but he is right on this.

  • 4:25 "Not to direct your interview here, but I'd like to redirect your interview here."

  • If more gets sick, where do you think he will go for treatment?

  • There is no such thing as free healthcare. It's just healthcare paid by the taxes you pay throughout your life. You just earn less money your whole life, so the state can pretend everything is free.

  • IndigoVagrant - In what way is Stossel the fraud here?

  • Michael Moore... naw.. Michael WAY LESS. The man is a tool.

  • All this was already known by any one with any common sense.

  • Stossel is the fraud

  • Moore is mentally ill...send him to Cuba.

  • @OfficialFrizzo Maybe you should go to Cuba you 2nd rate rap artist.

  • @thedocumentarian Michael?...is that you?

  • @OfficialFrizzo Yes, it's me. I could use you in my next movie. It's about overweight white rappers who try to imimate Eminiem. Would you be interested in the main role?

  • @thedocumentarian Sorry, I'm a svelt 165 so overweight isn't me. Also, you'd be surprised at who imitates who.

  • @OfficialFrizzo Svelt is 165 and 5'10. 5'3 and 165, that's definitely not svelt.

  • @thedocumentarian I'm 5'9"

  • @OfficialFrizzo I don't think he is. He is trying to appease a specific audience while being hypocritical but that's beside the point. He's making millions on supplying the masses with what they want to hear. Sounds like free market capitalism to me.

  • @Games2view

its actually the most perfect example of free market capitalism. Which I am a fan of. I hate micheal moore for being a massive hypocrite but beyond that more power to him for lying and making money off it.

  • @OfficialFrizzo You are metally retarded

  • @OfficialFrizzo ... or better yet, how about North Korea?

  • @OfficialFrizzo

Unfortunately I don't think Moore is mentally ill.

Moore knows exactly what he is doing, after all Moore is a Crony Capitalist.

This makes him even more dangerous.

He is leading his flock off the edge of a cliff and they are happy to follow.

  • John Streussel is now working for the moneyman - Murdoch.

  • Moore has serious health problems!!!

  • Both sound like a bunch of Retards!

  • 0:19 note! JS doesn't give us all the facts, the "sick Americans" are 9/11 first responders dying from the mystery fallout from whatever turned the towers into micron particles that day. They don't receive free healthcare in their own country despite their selfless service and bravery .

  • The U.S. healthcare system is one of the worst in the entire world -- that is an established fact by studies inside our country and by international studies. It is absolutely appalling that we have, as a society, the ability to provide better care, and yet we choose not to. Our democracy does not represent our people at all. If we could have a referendum of healthcare, our government would be providing free healthcare in a heartbeat. What is going on here?

  • @MortimerTheClueless Socialized medicine leads to price controls, reduced innovation, and rationing. Because the government runs healthcare in Canada, it must compete with other government programs for funding and is therefore dependent upon politicians and bureaucrats who determine the quantity and quality of the healthcare for it's citizens.

And there is no such thing as "free healthcare". How unbelievably naive must you be to think that is even remotely possible?

  • @tomthefunky What is good healthcare? The one that an individual receives with success. The better system for a society would be the one which is approved by the higher percentage of the population. Therefore medical services in USA are not better than the British, or French, or even Cuba, even-though, in some clinics in US, we can see higher level of technological equipment.

  • @cosmopolite66 I'll tell you what good healthcare is: A Gallup poll published in Newsweek found 87% of people with private, employer based insurance are happy with their plans. If that isn't an example of "good healthcare", I don't know what is.

But, hell, why stop at healthcare? There's a lot of people who don't have cars, should everyone have a car as well? You want to nationalize the auto industry as well?

  • @tomthefunky How about this statistic like this: 93% of the bankers in US say the financial system America is good. If this is not good society what is? Re: cars and medicine: the western school of political philosophy accepts that there is human right to medicine (among others), not cars; incompatible example. When we really want to know whether our medical system is good we MUST ask every american, not a bunch of chosen people.

  • @cosmopolite66 What survey did you get that "93% of bankers said.." from? You didn't cite your source.

We must ask every American? How about the people who pay no federal income taxes whatsover? Is their voice as valid as the guy who pays close to 50% of his income in taxes every year? Do you call that "fairness"?

  • @tomthefunky So you want a political system (not democracy) where the more money you have, heavier you vote for the government you have. You have it now. Every representative, judge, attorney, is paid upfront by the people with money. Recently Supreme Court recognized a corporation as a person, which means this person can buy air time during election campaigns. Just for comparison, democracy means one human = one vote. Other democracies, limit or deny business to fund candidates. US democracy?

  • @cosmopolite66 I'm really not sure what your point is. "heavier you vote for the government you have"? What the hell does that mean? And I asked you to cite your statistic. See, that's how adults debate. If you offer a statistic, you must cite the source, buddy.

  • @tomthefunky - Yes, there is free healthcare. All industrialized countries EXCEPT the USA have it. Free (or universal) healthcare is paid for by taxes, of course, but tax revenues are money that the people never had in the first place. Taxes go straight to the treasury, so that the government can spend the money on the basic needs of society. Without government, 99% of the people would live in total poverty.

In Canada, people pay nothing -- and for top-notch healthcare!

  • @MortimerTheClueless: Oh my God, I just realized you're pulling my leg. You got me. I fell for it. LOL!!

  • @MortimerTheClueless Of course no where in the Constitution does the FED GOV have the power to pay for health care. 99% of people would live in poverty without Government? You REALLY don't know what you're talking about.

Canada's healthcare is SO TOP NOTCH, that top officials there come to the U.S. for major surgery. Awesome, huh?

  • Moore is a hypocrite.

  • We have a legal right to a public education and we have a right to have a police and fire department. We should end fascist control of pharma and medical systems where corporations collude with the Congress and White House at the grave expense of the health of Americans. A right to medical services can include facilitating non-profit hospitals and outlawing corporate owned for profit hospitals- sharing of pharma and health tech-- requiring that low cost be a part of the development process.

  • @TruthInjector More idiocy. Education is not a right in America jackwagon. It's compulsory which means it is required by law. Last I checked that's not a right. Stupid fuck. And while there is a police and fire force neither are legally bound to protect you. You cannot sue the police for failing to stop a crime nor can you sue the fire department if your house burns down. Man, you are one stupid fuck.

Listen, do us all a favor and just stop posting because every time you do we all get stupider.

  • @KamekoBruns Your demented, unintelligent, rattle-brained rant, speaks for itself. Education is both a right and compulsory-- yes it is both. Police and firemen are required to act within the scope of the law and are subject to potentially severe legal and administrative and even civil damages for failing to do so.

  • @TruthInjector You are so incredibly wrong it's not even funny. You cannot sue the police for failing to protect you. This is fucking fact. Deny it all you want but that just shows how utterly fucking clueless you are.

There is no legal duty for the state to protect you.

Warren v. District of Columbia. fucking read it moron. You are such a fucking idiot it is beyond comprehension.

  • @TruthInjector Since when to Policeman and Firemen get sued by the Public....and lose to the public? Sorry....you can't sue them.....and win. (Unless maybe you can prove they were drunk or high at the time of an incident) You should really catch up on Politics......maybe read the Constitution for once in your life....

  • @evolutionist101 Police services are sued all over the country and people do win even large damages all the time.

Good luck with just following political chants and watching Fox news(run by neocons who don't care about the USA-- they want to destroy our constitution- and they to appeal to pod people who sit there and soak up everything without making an effort to find out the actual truth). You talk without thinking and without knowing a thing of what you're talking about.

  • @TruthInjector I suppose you have ignored Warren v. District of Columbia. that cool...whatever.

I haven't watched an hours worth of Fox News this past year, so you know what you can do with your assertions. However, I'd sure love to know what parts of the Constitution "neocons" are trying to destroy. Don't tell me you actually believe in the 2nd and 10th Amendment. I 'd be shocked. Please..I'll be waiting on te "actual" truth? Should I hold my breath?

  • @evolutionist101 Cases have been lost- while others have been won-- It is an idiot tangent that you are going on.

People as a group in the USA are provided, at government expense, many things, including police service(while far from perfect it is what it is) and fire service-- a right to a basic education through high school and many other things. Health care should be added to these and we can do it with an a freer free market(health care doesn't have a free market in the US) and lower cost.

  • @TruthInjector "People as a group in the USA are provided, at government expense"

Government's expense? Please address where the FED GOV gets this "magic money".

"a right to a basic education through high school and many other things"

Could you read for me where that is in the Constitution?

"Health care should be added "

That's fine if you believe that and feel that way. Pass an Amendment and it will be Constitutional.

  • @evolutionist101 THE ENTIRE BILL OF RIGHTS IS BEING DESTROYED BY THE FUC*ING NEOCONS you fascist piece of treasonous trash. Drop dead.

  • @TruthInjector "THE ENTIRE BILL OF RIGHTS IS BEING DESTROYED BY THE FUC*ING NEOCONS"

Please, feel free not to paint a broad brush. What are you thoughts on the 2nd Amendment and the 10th Amendment. You know, the ones you Socialists hate. (This is the part were you slither away and ignore, because you know you're full of shit)

  • @TruthInjector Sooo? Can you give examples of the destruction of the bill of rights? HA.....Didn't think so....

  • @TruthInjector Yeah...I'd tap out, too. Especially if I didn't know what the hell I was talking about...

  • @TruthInjector Uh yeah I think you are mistaking Fox news viewers for viewers of all other mainstream media. Pod people do not watch Fox news.

  • When it comes to health care the USA is very uncompetitive-- it has monopolies and oligopolies running many aspects of the system. Also substantially research has focused on making drugs that extend patents and do not improve health and certainly do not cure. Cures have been covered up including cures for cancer because they are unpatentable or because they simply wipe out profit. Britain and Canada have much better health outcomes and cost a fraction of US costs.

  • @TruthInjector UNCOMPETITIVE? Did you seriously type the word "uncompetitive"? How the fuck is the USA uncompetitive when there are dozens of pharma companies here? how the fuck is it uncompetitive when there are over 1,000 health insurance providers here?

As for Britain and Canada their health care costs a fraction of the US costs because their POPULATION IS A FRACTION OF OURS you dumb shit! 300MM in the US compared to 33M in Canada and 61M in the UK.

Holy fuck you are one dumb shit.

  • Stossel is a bought and owned fake journalist.

  • "You are so 13th century."

this is so typical of the American left. When you cant win the argument, insult, marginalize, denigrate, call stupid, laugh at, ad nauseaum.

  • "Cuba is the red herring."

Wasn't his fucking movie ABOUT CUBAN MEDICINE!

Every time I this pudgy, pompous douchebags face I want to rip my arm off and beat him to death with it.

  • Cuba has great preventive health care, but keep in mind that their diet is much better, their kids don't live on chips and soda, and their schools allow the kids lots of time for exercise. With no computers, the kids spend more time playing stickball and swimming.

Therefore, the Cubans are healthier. But if you get cancer, or you need dialysis, insulin, or a transplant, you're probably on your own.

  • @kstock00 Really? How many of those countries play host to some of the worlds richest people when they need healthcare? The King of Jordan came to the US for health care. Bishop Desmond TuTu came to the US for health care. Tenor José Carreras came to the US for health care.

Many of the rich and powerful from all those nations with universal healthcare came to the US for help when they were sick.

Why? Because a for-profit environment drives innovation and makes healthcare more affordable.

  • @KamekoBruns - National healthcare systems restrict access to non-citizens because the system is designed for citizens. Of course the wealthiest of the world come here, because our system is not designed for poor or lower middle class US citizens, it is designed for the highest bidder. Most of us do not care that we provide the best healthcare the King of Jordan can buy in our own back yard, most of us simply want health care for ourselves.

  • @kstock00 You're missing the point. The people I listed are all citizens of countries that have universal, single-payer health care systems and yet when they needed serious medical care they came here.

    Why?

Because our for-profit healthcare system provides better care for more people due to greater innovation. 30 years ago if you had a serious heart condition it meant surgery and a long recovery. Today it meas far less invasive procedures done on an outpatient basis. 1/2

  • Comment removed

  • @kstock00 Really? That's your example? Again, I gotta call your ability to argue your case into question. The replacement human heart was developed in America. Ever had a tooth pulled? Thank Boston dentist Dr William Morton for introducing anesthesia to the process.

Of course, what you think is the best advancement is not what I would so let's find something the whole world agrees on.

    1/2

But let's look at a more definable test.

  • @kstock00 The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Between 1996 and 2006 12 prizes were awarded to American-born scientists working in the US and 3 have gone to foreign-born scientists working in the US. Only 7, less than half that received by US employed scientists, have gone to researchers working outside the US.

So that means the US for-profit system has generated more Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine winners than THE ENTIRE WORLD by a ration of more than 2:1

    So uh, case closed.

  • @kstock00 2/2 A few years ago my brother was diagnosed with Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome and had to have surgery on his heart. Due to innovation the surgery was quick. He was in the hospital for less than 48 hours. This is what the for-profit medical system does. It provides high quality care at fairly reasonable prices. I would much rather have a system that provides quality for a majority then sub-par for all. Go take a look at the issues with UK's system and lmk if you want that.

  • @kstock00 Really? Are you honestly trying to argue that for every one positive there are "many many horror stories"? Then again, you are a lawyer so everything you say is suspect.

Either way, no one can argue the fact that the for-profit system provides far more innovation and advancements which, in the long run, provides better treatment.

  • @kstock00 Well let me flip your rather lackluster negation right back on yah.

"Thank you for sharing your sad story. I am (gladly) not a trial lawyer, and for that 1 sad story I have observed many many wonderful stories of the for profit system"

  • @kstock00 And by the way, there is nothing here in your story that can be taken as a condemnation on the for-profit medical system. At best it means that your mother had an incompetent doctor.

What state do you practice in because if this is representative of your arguing skills I want to make sure I never choose you as my attorney.

  • Huh, the rich get better treatment in Cuba. Stossel should love that.

  • Moore lying and getting owned by reporters of marginal skill and aptitude?

    Nothing new here.

  • Moore is an idiot but it would be nice to have a clinic in every neighborhood. Oh, wait! We have that!

Ok, then it would be nice to have good preventative care. Oh wait, we have that too!

Ok, Moore is just an idiot.

  • @heavyd777 Moore sure is an idiot but, Socialist Germany has Better Healthcare than this shit hole Nations has ever had! That's a fact not an opinion, the numbers say so!

  • @deeppurple28 AT WHOSE EXPENSE?

  • @deeppurple28 If you hate America so much and like Germany's Healthcare system so much move over there. Who is stopping you?

The reason healthcare issues can't get solved in this country is because the politicians. Politicians who can't get elected without massive lobbyist contributions. The system is rigged. Get it away from the hands of the politicians and it will suddenly be better.

  • @heavyd777 I don't know which country you're from, but we don't have 'good preventative care' in the United States. And, definitively, we do not have a clinic in every neighborhood. I agree, I'd rather have US healthcare than Cuba's, but don't say something utterly untrue to make a point. You only feed the beast that way.

  • @JohnsonSocrates I live in America, Johnson. I can find free clinics within 5 miles any direction from my house. My point was that there is help if you need it. Of course the politicians and their power hungry pundits would have you believe different.

People need to take responsibility for their health, first and foremost. Don't smoke, don't do drugs, eat healthy. Learn how to make better decisions. My God, we have the internet at every library and school. No one can claim ignorance anymore.

  • @heavyd777 Your point is very well taken. We ultimately agree. I do believe there are problems, but I also believe those problems were created due to movements toward socialism, NOT free market problems as many others like to say. And I totally agree with you that "no one can claim ignorance anymore." You are absolutely correct about that. So, I hope you're looking at Ron Paul. . . (heh)

  • @heavyd777 What he did for Cuba wasn't merely stupid it was nauseatingly repugnant: he presented a beautiful facade for a country whose people are suffering greatly. He's just another apologist for tyranny like his predecessor Walter Duranty
