@BlondAngel07: Modalverben bestimmen die Beziehung des Subjekts im Satz zur Aussage im Satz. Sie drücken zum Beispiel Wunsch (mögen, wollen), Zwang (müssen, sollen) oder Möglichkeit (können) aus. Die übrigen Modalverben sind können und dürfen.

Sie stehen im Infinitiv ohne 'zu' und haben ein paar Besonderheiten in der Flexion.

Schau mal bei Wikipedia nach.

When I was learning English, at the beginning I often confused "I will" with "I want". There's a few other verbs like that in German that sound like English verbs but mean a different thing.

Like "bekommen". One might think it means "to become", but no, it means "to get".

"ich will heute mit euch über Modalverben sprechen" - neutral

"ich wollte heute mit euch über Modelverben sprechen" - actually wrong but often used in spoken German. "wollte" kann be used for past or conditional phrases.

Correct usage would be "Ich wollte heute mit euch über Modalverben sprechen, ABER der Unterricht muß leider ausfallen"

Oh and by the way ... it's actually possible to use "haben" instead of "müssen" ... for example you could say "Du hast zu gehorchen" - "You have to obey" 8D But that's pretty uncommon ... so "müssen" would be the best anyways xD I just had to mention that *wise ass*
