@adzbuh" Ya see there's two kinds of people my friend, those with loaded guns, and those that talk blantant american in a german bar" , oops, wrong movie!
I think Tarantino's film deliberately ''referenced'' this movie as well as others. Even if it hadn't it woukd be difficult to escape the cultural influence. However Inglorious Basterds was a needlessly brutal and sadistic film, whereas this is a more innocent fantasy and a bit of fun. Lot's of people die here, but not through cruel torture, and nowhere are we encouraged to dwell with cruel pleasure on a villain's death. Which is why I prefer Where Eagles Dare.
Inglorious Basterds certainly reminded me of this movie, and, more particularly, of a later scene where the Gestapo man asks 'friendly' questions to the British agent about her home town in Germany, and both she and the viewer are unsure of whether or not he's suspicious.
Does this scene remind anyone else of the basement-bar scene from inglorious basterds? Michael Fassbender's character matches the smooth intensity of Burton's character, Til Schweiger's character goes along with Eastwood's take no shit vengeance, and Diane Kruger somewhat mirroring Ingrid Pitt's performance as an undercover ally amongst German soldiers? regardless, both amazing films!
What can I say about Where Eagles Dare? One of the best films ever and I love this scene. The entire cast are excellent, but for me Burton is the complete professional..
@BigFrankinDallas I would say this is the best movie for a cold winter day.
About the polka, it was composed by Ron Goodwin straight for the movie and the name of this piece is just "Polka" (according to the Where Eagles Dare soundtrack), I've the song uploaded to my channel. You may like to listen it... some Bavarian volksmusik/blasmusik songs sound very similar to this polka.
As you can see, Von Hapen is wearing a black ss uniform w/ swastika armband. Now, Holywood is an apparent claimer of a majority of these uniforms, saying almost all their movies have the uniform in them. Now, apart from: Where eagles dare, 633 squadron, inglorious bastards and dead snow (not holywood, but the only other movie i known with that uniform). What other movies has this uniform in, and please give me a list? Thank you.
@91haciting I saw this kind of black uniform in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and in a movie called The Damned with Helmut Griem wearing it. I don't remember any other movie where it has appeared.
@dcarrero26 But I'm not in Brazil... and if I were in Brazil I think I would... I don't know, it's too hot there... :(
I think if I were in Brazil I would... get a good tan? ja! :D
and who knows... maybe later I would even go to the beach and and and... walk, and... watch the landcasts and take some beautiful pictures and study the nature of that country and it's people and *GOTT!*... sleep with just one blanket at nightt! :D
you've got good taste pal, st. paulie girl was lighter than heineken, but good too. my cousin was a green beret in germany the beer was to die for . sweet sometimes, but with a kick, like an alabama mule!
@dcarrero26 Thanks! I already drunk two full steins of a brazilian brand beer I've never tasted before... I'm going to sleep very confortable now hahaha! xD
@dcarrero26 I haven't seen the commercial, do you have any link ti it?
About the beer... I've never tasted it but I was about to buy it once, the girl called my attention very much, but then I went for Heineken... A full beer barrel of Heineken... hhhhhmmmm...
@IcyScythe Too bad they don't. Nowadays hollywood war movies tend to be all the same and those which are not, are stupid. (just like that directed by Tarantino)
They need to make things just like before but with new ideas.
@Philphoenix1 , To tell you the truth I don't like to compare such a great golden classic like Where Eagles Dare with new massive consumerism bizarre hollywood movies. I really don't like the Tarantino movies. Pretentious films... they don't make them like in the old days.
@ArthurHilty Exactly!!! And thats why i have the theory that Tarantino was inspired by this character for his Sturmbanner Hellstrom in Inglorious Basterds!
This movie is awesome.

@CBfrmcardiff The worst death was when the frau gets capped who was going to administer truth serum to the fake American general.
That was so cruel. Shot to death for looking like a Bavarian sow instead of some Alpine beauty. Script writers can be so heartless at times.

@2000toddowen The most interesting death scene in the movie.

Absolutely love this film. One of my ten for a deserted island...
The cast, locations, dialogue, just spectacular!
QUESTION: Does anyone know the name of this Polka?
Makes me smile everytime I hear it!

Hammer horror actress Ingrid Pitt, best known for starring in cult classics such as Countess Dracula, has died at the age of 73.
She was a lovely woman, RIP. xxx

RIP Ingrid Pitt. Bee-yoo-tiful woman.

@TheUnforgivenRebel Loveliest vampire ever. She carried most of these movies on her own. Her beauty will remain on screen forever.

@deusirae76 She was so special and her role as Heidi should have been bigger than Mary Ure's as Maria. Tschüss Ingrid.

@dcarrero26 I know, I know. But I asked you what did you mean with that? What is the funny part about the Brazilian Beer?? xD
I must admit, it was very soft, kind of sweet... not bad. Brahma is the brand, as I read it was invented by the swiss Joseph Villiger.
