well siyko recorded this in march, which means sf4 just got released! thats very good gouken playstyle for that early time of sf4 and it wasnt sure if you could mash out of blankas bite, like when your dizzy.

Yeah, pretty much. In ST you mash out of throws like that, and I had been playing ST up until SF4's release, so it was a habit (even if i knew academically that it does nothing).

guys... there's plenty of ryus and balrogs zangiefs and who are versatile and powerful (not to mention sagat).

they have lots of hp, great daamge or just, like ryu, are fast and can link quite powerful combos with ease... gouken has standard hp, standard damage, it's quite impossible to use his super (wich, by the way it's quite useless) and you have to be great to outguess your opponent's moves... and you complain because he can grab and ultra you?

Gouken is cool, I'm not good with him but then again I havn't played alot with him. The only thing I don't agree with is how you can link his super or ultra just from his backwards throw.  That's a bit cheap and is also one of the reasons he's banned at tournaments.

I heard they might change his backwards throw though in super street fighter 4. His backwards throw might be something new that can't link his super and ultra.

Gouken's throw to Ultra/Super is only as cheap as Ryu's light Shoryuken to Ultra, Balrog's Headbutt to Ultra, Sagat's Tiger Uppercut/Knee to Ultra. Basically character has Ultras that can be linked to another move. Gouken's happens to be a throw. People are just pissed because once they get tossed in the air they know they're finished. But as soon as Ryu does his stupid shoryuken, or Balrog gets off a JAB!!, the same thing happens.

also for the backwards throw, you get more time to tech than other throws. also I've never heard of him being banned in tournys. From forums I've read it's a rumor. It really wouldn't make sense... he's nowhere near the best character in the game

I dont know whether you want tips or not but you use the focus attack way too much. Blanka always jumped and kicked you in the air. You could have just "No Use"d his ass. Your still better than me though.

wow. that is a really good Gouken Player! It's really rare to see one who know how to play him well.

I loved that juggle combo cheese that starts around 0:45. Poor guy had no chance, he wasn't that great of a Ryu player. But that's the way to play him, get a combo starter and keep at it. I love his horizontal Hurricane kick. it's really wide and hard to avoid, better than the the Ryu/Ken dragon punch. Kudos to whoever played him so well.

This guy probably prefered the higher risk higher reward of using focus armor for jumpins because with at least a single EX bar or even an ultra he can pull off 50% no problem. The counter does decent dmg but resets the match to long range, both players have to feel each other out again, focus attack allows the match to keep moving rapidly.

Actually most tournaments now use the PS3 version. (Cause a lot of pros have old PS2 joysticks that are compatible)

Beautiful finish on the last match. How come you were button mashing whenever he grabs you, does it do less damage? Any tips on pulling off that Dash Foward into Tatsu after a EX Palm. I use a 360 controller so it's really hard to dash with the joystick.

It doesn't, but it did in ST and old habits die hard. All I can say for the dash is you have plenty of time to do it, just get used to when the buffer window starts. You can input it around the end of the palm and it's no problem

sure there buddy, he barely does one link or combo, whiffed almost every ex ball attempt. got punished for every slide. he sweeps to punish? uses ultra out of desperation. he jumps alot, instead of using the 3k, 3p, etc.

no rushdown, it's obvious when he has a charge, on the other hand he doesn't turtle very well. no real gameplay or strat. the only reason i see you calling him a very good blanka is to make yourself feel better. again, i just don't see how that blanka is very good

Nice Gouken, but that Blanka isn't that great, he made lots of mistakes over and over again, such as leaving electricity out too long, not mixing it up enough on Gouken's wakeup, using the same jumping HK with no empty jumping to avoid focus attacks/parries, too much sliding (especially at the start of rounds)... But the Gouken is pretty solid!
