  • aluminum can is worth more then 2 cents :)

  • "...minus the soda" :) lol

  • THIS IS USELESS, TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN, IT'S MISLEADING.......THE HOLOCAUST WAS A LIE

  • We need to get rid of the penny. And possibly have one and two dollar coins instead of bills.

  • Copper pennies are worth almost 3 cents a piece. Are you hoarding yet? Get to it!

  • Current price pennies <1982 0.0286

    Nickels 0.066

  • Also I would think that you would know that with economic expansion comes inflation. the amount of money printed is not the main reason that inflation happens.

  • Our money is fiat money because a bullion based system would by impossible to manage.

  • So if our money becomes worthless we meld down all our coins for scrap and exchange for the same worthless money. at fair less value then what we had melted down it seems like an oxymoron to me ? how about we stock up on stuff to trade for like caned food and medical supplies and even bullets.....!

  • @ meltdowntips...

I understand the value of the pre-'82 pennies: 95% copper is "No. 2 copper" by definition, and worth more than the penny, just as a puddle of metal...

But the Nickel is an alloy of only 75% copper. Even though it's back over 5c, no-one will pay out "pure" metal prices on this "dirty" alloy.

Any ideas on how to separate the Ni and Cu, after melting?

  • err, yeah. But I think it is illegal to melt down your money as you own the value of it and not the actual piece!

  • Great info! Instead of taking my change to the bank now, I'll just exchange a few of my paper dollars for a couple rolls of change heh.

  • That was great info. I have alot of change and was wondering if I should cash it in. I''m anxious to look through it and see what I have.

  • GREAT COMMENTARY ON YOUR MONEY. Makes you look at pocket change in a different light.

  • I guess your right. Of course, if we end up with hyper inflation here like they did in Germany, saving 50 cents on a loaf of $50 bread won't feel like much of a savings.

  • IOW, a coupon you get from the supermarket for 10 cents blows away a U.S. dollar. great.
