I always through that Role Playing Games were the genre of game where character and plot development were supposed to be a big deal, since that's the whole concept of 'roleplaying'; you're playing as a character in a story, thus playing a role in it. Role playing. Different strokes for different folks... is that how people say it? Kinda sounds weird to me.

The first time I played Chrono Cross I used Pierre's path and then took him to save Kid...

Let me tell you, that part of the game was one of the hardest for me. And this is when I was an RPG noob and didn't pay attention to who was better at casting Elements, etc, and just loaded people with their own colors mainly. Big mistake.

So Guile's path is the easier path considering you have Guile and soon what I consider probably the next strongest character next to Serge. Which has nothing to do with certain dual wielding features heh.

First time played this I chose to save her(picked Guile earlier). Kicked myself later when found out couldn't get that one character.

Decisions in games seem to be very popular though I am not a huge fan of it. I always choose the good and heroic path and then when I play through the second time to experience the other path I just feel guilty doing not so good stuff.

It doesn't turn me completely off, but it does make me uncomfortable at times when playing.

I like how Serge is frightened by the cat now that he's had an encounter with Lynx. Somehow I never really noticed that before.

That's a neat way of developing Serge's personality, since he is a silent protagonist.

Even if they DID show Kid being cut by the sword, there still wouldn't be much gore. Judging by how DELAYED Kid's falling unconscious was, It's be more like a good cat scratch: it would bleed, but not as much as if it was more of a vital wound.

That's weird-- in Guile's path, Kid mentions that you should try to find "Angelus Errare", but here she doesn't mention it at all; she just gives you the Astral Amulet.

I guess it's because in Guile's path, she was in your party when you jumped off the cliff, but in Nikki's path, she wasn't

I wonder why they took out that single line of dialogue if she's not in your party? Any ideas?

You go more for battle mechanics and game play in RPGs huh... well crap... I'm just the opposite. I look for good character development and story. Always considered RPGs to be interactive stories.

Something tells me your not going to enjoy FF8 as much as I would...The battle mechanics of that game are a bit flawed... mostly in the sense that it is really easy to exploit if you know what your doing... You really need to love story to let that game shine IMO. Not to say you wont like it though

The thing about not animating the sword is you dont see exactly where it hits.

Well, you can also experiment with different strategies maybe? Or on guile's path you can use a common strategy for a boss while on Nikki

s path you can use a different type of strategy to take it out.

Almost everyone playing the game for the first time chooses to save Kid. If you've played through the game at at least once before, though (presumably taking the path where you save Kid) you'll realize why it actually is OK to choose not to save Kid (plot-wise, anyway).

Batman the Animated Series (the one with Mark Hamill as the Joker) pronounced it that way. Harle was a great character on that show! Not used nearly enough for my taste.

In one regard yes but in another sense it still works you know Kid is this stranger who wouldn't leave him alone and kept following after him. Even though Serge didn't really want to hang out with her so he could kind of feel responsible for what happened.

I don't know, either path says something different about Serge's character.

He stated in the last episode of Pierre's (loosely) that the only thing that was different with Guile's and Pierre's was just to beginning part of where you enter and who do you face, after that he would chose to play as Guile since his stats are better and there was really nothing else different about the two paths from then on.

The reason why he's keeping Nikki's path going is b/c he wants to show who you can recruit w/o Kid in your party.
