Jesus is god. This is what god(jesus)ordered in the O.T>Witches, kill them. Homosexuals, kill them.fortunetellers, kill them. those who don`t listen to priests, kill them. those hitting their dad, kill them. those who curse their parents, kill them, adulterers, kill them. fornicators, kill them. people who believe in other religions, kill them. non-believers,kill them. fals prohets ,kill them. blasphemers, kill them. those who work on the Sabbath, kill them. The word of god ??????????
Is it just me or does Mitchell look a bit portly in that photo. He must have lost a bit of weight before appearing on TV...either that or its just a bad picture.
"It's love/hate really. Do you want that in your life? Really? Do you want to bring love and hate and sleepless nights and the stress of Jesus in your life? Do you want that? The heartache, the doubt and the selfhate of Jesus in your life? I'm putting your down as a no." :)
wanna-be philosopher? anyone can be one, its not like you need a degree in it. in fact, i'd say that everyone has philosophized at some point in their life.
@perfacetus Yes -I even had one approaching me on the street in Golders Green -one of the most renowned Jewish districts in London. I was sincerely afraid she was going to get a bagel shoved up her nose. But she was going to get a nosebleed very soon anyway, so a bagel wouldn't have been amiss...
@perfacetus Actually, I have personally experienced both door-to-door and public-meeting evangelising, although it seems JWs favour the first slightly more. As a Jew I would agree that most people in the community are very open to debates on all the theological issues making Judaism distinct from Christianity, including the nature of the Messiah.
@perfacetus The response to the god-idea often remain important for us Jews even when we live with little or no supernatural belief (something the Reconstructionist Movement has capitalised on). However, we do humbly ask that such debates remain debates, and not degenerate into propagandising. It is more constructive for everyone to probe questions in religion without a pressure to accept one viewpoint on the outset,
Wow, I had no idea that there were so many Jews who were atheist/non-religious! I always assumed that most were still adhering to the 'law' etc.
Mind you, it isn't entirely surprising that I'm out of touch, there is no Jewish community where I live and so the closest I get to a British Jew is reading Giles Coren's column!
@perfacetus, which puts one on the defensive and makes it impossible to maintain an argument logically and respectfully. It is also unfortunate that centuries of often violent pressure to convert to Christianity has left many deeply suspicious of evangelising Christians. As Golders Green has a mainly Orthodox community, I wouldn't want the lady in question to come away with Talmud quotes like 'Jesus of Nazareth-may his bones be ground to dust' when she has been so tolerant with my Jewishness.
I think generally evangelical Christians aren't given a particularly good press. I guess the whole thing can appear a bit confrontational and provocative. I guess the difficulty is that the person may well only be there out of concern for others (doesn't want them going to hell) but externally it can appear to be condescending or it can appear they are condemning/judging others lifestyle.
It is a difficult balancing act, I think. Randomly, Jews do accept Isaiah as a prophet don't they?
@FSMGauss And your user name is some sort of ref. to Gauss? Hmmm... still not the dorkiest thing I've seen on Y/t with regards to math. There's a video of various things due to Grothendieck with rock music in the background...
@richardcadbury What do you get if you cross a Unitarian with a member of the Klan? Someone who lynches racists and then leaves a burning question mark on your lawn.
Great video.

Yeah, I don't think Christians actually go door to door, rather just meeting in public.
I'm surprised though, I would have thought the Jewish community of all people would be cool with a conversation/debate about the Messiah?
