Is that bass hard to blow. I've dabbled a little with the baritone but I'm prodominantly a tenor player. Will it be a big step from the tenor to the bass? Also how much does that bass cost? Reply if you can. Thanks! Awesome playing by the way!
Yes. Bass sax is a big jump. Even going from baritone to bass is a big jump. However, when you get your bass chops together, it is a big help for your tenor playing, so it's worth the effort. Breathing is the key.
@saxtek - Why is the slide saxophone considered to be in the saxophone family? I looked at multiple websites of the saxophone family, but I couldn't find it anywhere.
The slide saxophone uses a soprano sax mouthpiece, and the bore is similar to a soprano sax on the key of C. When one note is played on a slide sax, it sounds almost exactly like a soprano sax.
Contrabass sax is in Eb, one octave below the baritone sax. Subcontrabass sax is in Bb, one octave below the bass sax. This video shows a bass saxophone.
i bet u need to be good at giving head to have the ombechure for that... xD jk i play alto and bari. i love saxophone. most beautiful sound ive ever heard. lol
Well done. You are one of the best bass sax players on youtube. Most people have absolutely no idea how to make it musical. You play it instead of it playing you. Good tone.
WOAH DUDE! a) that is the coolest thing ever b)teehee, i suppose you HAVEN'T had any flatulence related jokes yet! But heey, that's amazing, i'm actually very musical, but i have to cover it up at my place.... :( keep playing cos I can't....
@24262748 I like it. Think of how he would sound with Ron Carter in a duo concert. Of course you would need some other instruments to widen the tonal palette, but hey... it could happen.
@cory131521 my jazz band director playes bass sax, ican play it for spring recital if he finds music for bass sax. its about oneof the few times he pulls it out each year
there is a kid in my class who started on clarinet then stopped half way through 6 grade then started baritone this year in 8th wtf? he is not good trust me!
give this kid time i never played an instrument before and started playing bari in the middle of 8th grade...i'm still playing catch up though but i've been playing for about 10 months and i'm trying my hardest
someone once told me they heard donna lee on Baritone and they said it sounded nasty and unclean, but this guy made an even bigger sax sound cleaner than I imagined... lol
man i miss playing the sax so bad i used to play the bari but never got the opportunity to own my own so when i left school i had to stop playing because i only own a alto and one you play bari you never go back you just keep moving up
i have to agree with you on the bari part. I pla the bari right now and i dont think i ever want to go back just because the bari feels more fitting once you play it and get used to it. How long did u play it?
Hey Randy,
Does Eppelsheim sponsor you?

Eppelsheim does not sponsor me. I pay full price for his instruments.

@aesmart4 so its higher then the bari sax? is it bigger or smaller than the bari? jw
piplupmaster100 1 year ago
@piplupmaster100 it's lower than bari sax, because it's an octave lower than tenor. it is bigger than bari.
ItsThatToolGuy 1 year ago
i thot it was an octave below the tenor and 1 1/2 below the alto and the 1/2 was due 2 the pitches
