Is anyone else thinking you can just sneak a peek at the bottom card of the 10 card pack and then no matter how many cards they push off to the bottom their card will always be one card below what the bottom card was before? No need for all the extra stuff :P

This is a great trick, easy for a beginner like myself. However, if you already know that their card will mathematically be in the 4th position from the top, you shouldn't need to do the fan, and risk them seeing you having a peek at the cards; you just need to spread them onto the table and then pick their card after 3. To me that's even more impressive because there's no possibility of sleight of hand.

@MrByrne0 If the spectator sees you look at the cards twice it's not very impressive because it seems like a simple mathematical trick. It's a much better effect if the spectator thinks you've only looked at the cards one time.

@mismag822 wouldn't it be more impressive if you just looked at the cards at the fan. I mean, when you're doing the whole reverse order and 5 on top part, can't you just do that while the cards are still turned over the fan them out on the table, or even better don't look at the cards at all, just get that sneak peek at the moment you show the cards in your hands while their fanned.

This is a lovely effect.Many thanks for posting it.

When cutting the five cards from face up to face up top to bottom perhaps use the 'Tamariz cut'? All this means is reversing the orientation of the spread of both half fans whilst arms swing outwards before reassembling the packet. It will better disguise the cut.

When asking the spectator for the second time to transfer the same amount of cards from top to bottom say almost as an afterthought "reverse another one for luck".

Nice trick, but the problem with tricks that ask a spectator to handle the cards is that spectators often misunderstand instructions, drop cards, or count wrongly. If your back is turned, you may not even know until the trick ends and you triumphantly reveal the wrong card.

the fan peek isnt really necessary is it? if you spread the cards down infront of them, you can just see what the card is, and say it as they think of it, or point to it? if they hold the cards and you cant see the 10 cards spread, naming the card would not be much more of a shocking ending as it would be if you could see the cards?

What the heck? Are you new to magic? The card is forced and the sharpie has that all along. The deck is an invisible deck. The trick with 4 groups is simply removing the one who doesn't have a card.
