  • the montage at the end was awesome! every time i see clips like that im like: why are you yelling woman?!

im glad there are almost no more of these types of characters...

  • Butler is one of the reasons I read SF. She never TRIES to make you feel one way or the other, she just does and powerfully so. I hate that non-SF readers think the genre is all about space adventures and aliens. Parable of the Sower was better than The Road.

Ursula K. Le Guin, Connie Willis, Nancy Kress... WHY don't more women read SF? Even the stuff written by dudes these days tend to be full of strong yet believable female characters, more so than most genres. Gibson's Cayce Pollard ruled.

  • @GrantOnTheRocks in sci-fi shows too, more strong, genius female characters are created... :)

  • Thank you 4 posting this Rare video<3

  • This is great!

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the whole documentary?

I found a large part of it on GoogleVideos, but I'd like to find a better quality version, if possible.

  • octavia butler, the true creator of the matrix

  • Thank you to Rust3 as this clip is from a segement Rust3 uploaded to google video.

  • This is from "Brave New Worlds: The Science Fiction Phenomenon", a 1993 TV documentary.

  • It's time for Hollywood to use more sci-fi stories by women and minorities.
