It's a cool comparison, but I kinda think mic positioning kinda played a little into this, but you're only confirming that I need to get a few of the V30s myself either way, although the peavey speakers sounded pretty good to.
When you play the clean parts the V30 cab really shows how good it sounds compared to the VK imo, the distortionstuff is too much based on opinions about eq settings imo.
Hi, how did you get this to work with ohms and things as i'm hoping to do the same thing, as i looked into this is my valvekings output runs at 16 ohms mono but the cab runs at 8 ohms mono.
Though the stock speaker is at 16 ohm, it is written on the back for the external speaker : 8 ohm minimum, so it's OK with 8 or 16 ohm ! G12H is my favorite though.
ah right, does it say 8 ohm minimum on the valveking or the cab as my valveking says 16 ohm minimum, thanks for the help, i was looking at this as i am having trouble finding a decent cab cheap but its so hard finding one for the valveking.
So is the cab here just a stock cab running mono from the valvekings external speaker output?
Awesome demo. I myself own a VK head + cab, and I'm very close to replacing the speakers with V30s, or buying the exact same 2x12 you own for starting out with. Could you provide any insight of how the V30s sound, compared to the stock speakers, in a max gain situation?
Great side by side demo. V30's have better sound quality than stock. Take the clarity of the v30's and put it with the tone curve of the stock and that would be great.
i personaly thing the stock speaker sounds way better than the v30s its fatter and warmer while the v302 sound thin and raspy perhaps it was the way the cabinet was designed that the v30s were in but in this situation they sounded like garbage
V30 are far more clear and definite, more low bass (with clear or distorsion) and high mediums, but less low medium. Stock speakers sounds more "brown", big medium, but less precise. Careful, new V30 need to be broken-in, now mines are better than 6 months ago.
The sound on video is trebly, with only a few low basses

hola amigo el v 30 es de 8 ohms or 16 ohmms?
se siente la diferencia con el luodspeaker original peavey? gracias
TheRicci1970 1 year ago
@TheRicci1970 If you don't hear the difference on this poor sounding video, don't change you speaker, lol. I use 16 ohms for V30 on my VK.

the added definition and precision of V30 is there for distortion too. And V30 has a particular aggressive gritty sound with distortion.
jonizefox 2 years ago
true, but, no offence, but due to mic quality probably it is not really a good comparison here with the distortion.

All right

why does your lp only have 2 pots?

It is home made. Others will say "Custom shop".....

Try a g12h speaker (care : only 30W). 8ohm mini is written on the amp. On cab it depends of wiring and of speakers impedances.

what was ot set on when you played walk this way? i bought a112 myself and am trying to learn how to set it any help would be great.

something like that :
VK112 lead channel, gain 12h, no boost, bass14h, mid11-13h, treble 9-10h + TS808 clone : drive 9h - tone 12h - volume 16h

Same voicing with max gain, but I less clarity with the VK. See (listen it loud) my video with G12H/V30 before buying anything.

are you using any pedals?

When it's written, a tube screamer as a boost. (1:24 - 3:25).

So are you playing through a stock valveking and another amp with Vintage 30's in it?
PVK112 3 years ago
no, same amp, I only switch from stock speaker to V30 cab.
jonizefox 3 years ago
what would you say 112 version of the valveking or the 212 or the head with the harley benton vintage 30 loaded 212 cab ?
and i will change the speaker on tghe valveking combos but how do they work on soft sound? like television level?
please help cuz i like this one
lasttank 2 years ago
Whatever the speaker, 50W amp cannot give its best at television level. V30 is LOUD. G12H is closest to the stock speaker (but only 30W).

Yep, and I'm on the way to replace one V30 by a G12H, and I will probably built my own cab someday.
The next step would be a low wattage amp.

hum, a "garbage" with so much clarity than the stock speaker...wwhy not
jonizefox 3 years ago
Sounds like the v30's sound better for distortion, while the stock is better for cleans.
dualstagef1 3 years ago
For "fender amp type" clean V30 are better imo. Stock speakers sound more "round", but high ends miss compared to V30
jonizefox 3 years ago
no way. the v30 sound way better for both. the stock speaker is INCREDIBLY muddy for cleans

May i ask how the bass response is on the HB vintage 30 cab compared to the stock valveking speaker?

Hey was checking out the video because Im also thinking of getting the valveking and replacing the speakers :D
What do you mean by broken-in exactly? And how hard is to change the speakers btw? Would I need to do any soldering or such?
