The $5K "tax credit" she mentions is simply a reduction of your taxable income, not a direct reduction of your taxes by $5K.
In either case, Palin won't ever be standing on that stage again, being asked to inform America of her plans.

I like moving the tax break on employer sponsored plans over to the individual.
Health care expense might less out of control if individuals are more involved monitoring & dealing with their heath care choices & expense.
The present tax break to the company encourages people to depend on companies for health insurance and sometimes even locks a person to working at their present employer.
