I can believe how good she sounded. I attended her first UK gig which was one of the best I've ever been to. Perfect. She didn't come here much because she hated flying.
Circa 1978, her material was also featured in a 30-minute BBC show which spliced her songs to archive footage, rather like an extended video. It was one in a series: Buffy St Marie appeared in the same series.
I can not believe how great she sounds on this live show. Her voice is clear and beautiful. Except for Chuck Berry, Dory really didn't belong in the generation that she appealed to with her solo music. She was my mother's age -- she was from the big band era. Born in 1925. Yet, her albums, music, lyrics on her terrific solo albums were all contemporary 70's and her only real competition as a solo artist -- Joni Mitchell. She was a marvel and she should be remembered for some real clever songs.
Thanks SO much for posting that! I've been telling people for years she DID appear on OGWT, but nobody believed me. If I recall correctly, the other song she did was either "Brando" or "Atlantis".
@MrAttPatt Glad to hear this upload proved you right. I'm not sure about the other tracks you mentioned as the BBC4 seried didn't include all of her recordings, but I'd be sure to upload any of Dory's songs that I come accross in any future broadcast. Ciao.
how have i missed this piece over the past 15 years?! thank you for sharing!

Interesting how she has not been 're-assessed' in these recent times.
