  • Total wack job...

  • tried this after watching the video and I was hitting my 6 iron like a 4 iron !!!

  • forward shaft lean with a minimum amount of downward strike (aka shallow angle of attack) is the secret to tour caliber shots. you only need to hit down enough to get the sweet spot on the ball.

  • this is the key to good ball striking. i was killing all my irons today, including the 2 iron, just thinking of trying to drive the ball straight into the ground. the momentum of hitting down will bring your body up into a full finish

  • Confused,I thought the hitters action was done by the right shoulder/arm and the job of the left was to not breakdown and be flat. Now I'm hearing there is a wrist cock and uncock by the left. This makes it alot harder to maintain the flat left wrist.Anyone have answers? I would appreciate some feedback

  • @secrettogolf

To hit crisp shots, the left wrist needs to be bent backwards on itself. This is how you get a "late hit" or create "lag". If a golfer conciously uncocks the wrists in any way, or fashion, he will shank, slice & hit fat shots all day long.

A good way to do the right way, is to keep the left hand palm facing the sky from the start of the downswing, thru the ball as long as possible.

Difficult to master, but worth it long-term.

  • @martinavizcomm what he is trying to explain is if you uncock the wrists with a rolling action of the left forearm closing the clubhead around the shaft of the club then you wont hit a ball right. the club face needs to be open on intial contact with the ball and closed when leaving the ball. and trust me it works

  • One of the best clips on youtube. Also the Blake lessons with Collin Neeman - fantastic!

Tried S&T and it has valuable elements. Weight forward is an eye opener, though I'm not sold on taking the club so far inside, as i end up getting a little stuck back there with no way out other than a little over the top move.

Now starting back with club head outside the hands, almost a la Fowler but not as severe, and not letting r elbow get too far behind me. Working really well so far!

  • @claytronica23 Going inside should happen naturally, especially with a left shoulder/arm/hand take away. You wil go inside the proper amount.Don't think go inside, just think back and up and in will happen. You will know you are too far inside when you get behind your right heel. Also Lynn explains the throw out for hitters which will get you tracing or pointing at the target line, with the handle and then clubhead

  • @claytronica23 The way not to get stuck by going inside is to make the proper wrist cock.Too many people think you just cock your hands in when actually the wrist cock is up and the torso moves the hands in when you turn right. The pros synchronize this so well you don't see the wrist cock happening in front of them.Try breaking your wrists upward then turn,The do it simulatneously. You will be in perfect position at the top and not get that stuck feeling moving inside can cause when U force it.

  • great drill for amateurs... 10/10!!!

  • Lynn brings TGM knowledge and great communication to his teaching - some of the very best info available anywhere

  • can you explain what he is saying about the left hand uncocking.I thought in TGM as a hitter you thrusted the right arm and theleft was just holding on?Any respnse would help.

  • @golfogac could you explain what he is saying about the downward motion of the left hand.I thought in the hitters motion the right hand pushed down the line and the left wrist was suppose to stay straight. Can you help clear this up.

    thanks

  • @secretogolf I get the impression, after looking at some of his videos what he teaches is this: The right hand/arm produces power, the left hand/arm controls clubface/shaft rotation. Although this video doesn't warrant anything i just said!!

  • @martinavizcomm yes ,I find his videos to be great, yet this dynamic becomes very unclear.I see bits and pieces about rolling down the line, then I hear the hitter need only thrust the rear arm down the line with some help from the weight shift. He also emphasisis the uncocking of the left wrist which basically happens after contact.I've had great success with simply thrusting the rear shoulder/arm and the hand positions, but feel like I'm not gettinf the entire picture.Anything else would be great

  • @secretogolf .....watch?v=_slBWCzRCKs

Take a look at this, it explains the way Ben Hogan hit the ball, & works really well since you are always driving the club through the ball. I use it myself, because i'm lazy, & can't be arsed to practise!!! Mo Norman used it too! Good luck. Martin =]

  • @martinavizcomm That was good example from Sevam, thanks. It does seem that it will automatically release and square with the rotation of the right forearm.I tried this and added some 5-7 yards, with just the lead arm rotating to impact. This is something like AJ Bonar's idea accept he wants you to open the club way open,no thanks.Going to try it with some push and rotate from the rear hand after thrust + the front, just out of curiosity. Thanks

  • @secretogolf I tried AJ's method too, but i didn't like the fact you had to open & close the face in such a big fashion. So, i figured since i am right-handed, to do all of the swing with the right forearm. And now i only have ONE swing thought, which is great, since us guys are hopeless at multi-tasking!! I take it back (with the right arm) straight back. Then slight anti-clockwise rotation through the ball. It works great!!! =]

  • @martinavizcomm Tried the same here.I feel like htere is alot to take from Lynn Blake,Sevam and Stack and Tilt. You just need to find the common thread and throw out the complex patterns.Luckily the club will open and close correctly if you don't mess with it.Just get it back with the right, thrust downward with the hip turn.I'll give you one great piece from thr S&T guys,if you widen your stance rotate and put pressure on the front leg during your backswing you will be amazed at the pure contact.

  • @secretogolf Exactly!! Just find out what is really important in the golf swing & discard all the crap..when this is achieved, you will be a better player. I tried S&T, & hated it by the way!! I think it suits taller golfers, not short, fat twats like me!! =[o)

  • @martinavizcomm the one component in the S&T you might want to look at is the weight pressure on the front foot. This is somewhat bullet proof in that you only need turn not shift and turn.It is all based on the Golfing Machine alignment minus the weight shift.Golfing Machine wants to see you brace up on the rear leg to get you back to the front early.May not be your cup,but try hitting some pitch/chips with an 8 iron an the ball striking is amazing,no loss of distance.

  • @martinavizcomm Hey man whats up any word on whats going on with this left wristt uncocking.I thought a hitter was suppose to just maintain the flat left wrist and the motion of the wedges was a throw of the right down the line. Now I'm hearing wrist cock, very confusing.

  • @martinavizcomm I know theses patterns differ in ways.Yet the core concepts are all there.Hogan even shifted left during the backswing which allowed him to just let the turn bring the arms down to a perfect contact point.I found no matter your arms will usually out race your hips,so the weight is better off already being there. The club comes back nice and inside and on the down your hips are 45 degrees at contact, thats where you get that extra pro punch. The S&T tilt also creates a nice circle.

  • Good stuff....1st to comment.....YEAH!!!!!
