novice or not, bystanders in any sporting event are at risk, and crashes like this are very common in downhill racing, sorry your son had to be in that path. Glad he was okay afterwards, but its a dangerous sport, if he was pushing his limits he will learn from it, and get better from this experience
@sAINT898 well if you know the course SOOO well, then why are you standing with your 5 year old son in such a vulnerable position, your lucky your lad wasn't more seriously hurt and it would of been all your fault, not the riders!!
@conadgsi actually we were on our way up the course, stopped for a minute to talk to a friend that was standing there. Rider was a novice, probably a good reason why he was racing beginner class, and he shouldn't have taken that line, riders fault, end of story. No your limits, and if you are going to push them, do it some where else where other people are not involved. I made sure I had that line down before I ever ran that line in a race run.

As for the rider, hes an idiot and needs to know his limits, was watching that guy ride earlier, scary to watch....
