The part that is so scary about this scene is how real it is: I cant' tell you the number of times I've seen a really decent and innocent girl or woman get lured in by a sleazeball who says all the right lines.

Does anyone else think that, while the acting is certainly goot in its own way, this scene relies way too much on cliché imagery and character stereotypes? I mean, the girl's in a white night-gown or something, and de Niro wears red and black... wow, subtle. Then, does Juliette wear braces or something? At any rate, she way overdoes the "cute innocent shy girl" schtick and kinda comes off as younger than she looks. I couldn't help myself but be reminded of introduction dialogues to porn videos..

Yea, he's got that southern accent down and all, but that permanent head and other mannerisms tilt gives him away. I just can't, can't take this scene any seriously.

Then there's the idiotic fight scene at the end where the thug's holding a stick in his hand and yet just...

The scene may be "great" in terms of acting and cinematography, but the way he fight goes down is extremely implausible and ridiculous - they aren't dancing around with shades and kung-fu kicks, and yet it's none more believable.

I don't know why I should "show respect" for that - I really love how you just make up a reason for me to complain about this scene, without really knowing anything about it ;)
