A great band. In the summer the Rhythm Aces used to play in the evenings for a week or so at Embankment Gardens, London. That was on my way home from work and of course it was impossible to hear that sound and not stop for the whole session. All for free too thanks to (I think) the GLC.
What a great number. We had Max at my jazz club (Preston Cross Hotel, Great Bookham) last Sunday and they played this for us. Absolute knockout! Gentleman Jim is still playing in the band.
Quite frankly from Gentleman Jim to Fingers, Phil Mason to Jack Gilbert to Ron Mckay and Max himself...was there a better sound ever heard? The best!!!!

Ron McKay was an awesome drummer in the best jazz band in the world...he could sing too!

He was one of the very best. We played together in 1975. He came to Toronto in 1995, last time I met him, he played just fine with Phil Mason's band.
