  • But it's really about the moment. I have ideas about what will serve me later but if something else happens I just roll with it.

  • ...I'm not sure anymore. It makes sense to me to define it as my "self" but is that the same concept of "self" everyone else is carrying around in their heads?

I've read things describing things like ego and self-interest that describe them as us defining ourselves according to society in a relationship to words. But I rarely define myself on words, but by the experiences and sensations I have taken in, how I found those, and my understanding of what experiences I want in the future.

  • I'm not against those experiences i.e. money, cars, etc., but I know that the best things for my self are those things that would improve happiness and reduce suffering. That seems self-evident. It always has, though I haven't always had words to express that understanding. I feel that acting in accordance with what I think will improve happiness and reduce suffering is what it means to act in self-interest.

Is this self-interest? From things I've read on the philosophy pertaining this...

  • @sicktoaster it depends - is it your own idea of helping others that is based in your own personalized opinions and beliefs or is it in fact what is supporting others and what is best for all life from a starting point of self honesty - that is beyond personal opinion and belief

nothing wrong with material things in this world that improve quality of life - the question is how are we using these things and are we allowing all to share these things equally?

  • @sicktoaster yes that is self as the mind - or what you call 'ego' - that is contrived and comprised of knowledge and information - definitions, beliefs and perceptions about who self is that form personality, likes, preferences, wants, desires. that is not real, it dies at death.

self as who you really are as life is the physical - of which we are all equally from the same source - that is our oneness as existence

  • @adriandrum

    I see.

I've realized though that the best way to maximize happiness and minimize suffering is to let go. Just what ever set of sensations(What is an experience other than a set of sensations received by the human brain?) intrigue me I go for them. This seems haphazard but it's working for me.

  • @sicktoaster to actually let go of the past as how you have defined yourself according to your experiences and environment is what we refer to as seld forgiveness - this is our gift of release from mind control and is able to transcend anything if applied and lived effectively - nothing and no one is beyond self forgiveness - for more on how to apply this tool I suggest visiting the desteni website and forums

  • What is self, ego, self interest,...?

I don't think self interest is bad but it seems like I conceptualize the idea very very differently from others. When others talk about "self interest" their always seems to be this narrow focus on things like money, acquiring certain items, etc.

I'm starting to think that maybe the way I've been using these words diverges greatly from how most people are using them.

  • @sicktoaster yes self interest generally refers to the current condition of man as 'self' as the ego - not as actual self as the physical as life

  • In college, I participate and help out with our Equality-Related Fundraisers and I am ALL for equality but I don't understand what does shaving your head have to do with equality

  • @elgrigorio1 shaving my head is a visible political statement that I stand for world equality - as it is giving up hair as a point of vanity, ego, self interest and self definition. it is also cool for the environment as I do not use any hair products any more.

  • REALLY AWESOME WITH SHAVED HEAD

  • I don't see how shaving your head bad makes you give up your personality?? Persnality comes from WITHIN!! Hair is a physical quality as is baldness.

  • @xhemexx it is not the hair - it is the attachment to the hair as how self has defined self as personality - thus an extension of personality

you can test it out - it is amazing the extent of fear for so many to simply shave hair off - because as you said, it is only a physical quality, nothing more - it is how we have defined ourselves by it

  • i respect what you're doing and see your point, but think we can have personalities but still be equal, the desire to be equal is part of your personality... it isnt entirely a persons personality in terms of uniqueness which causes them to cast judgement. judgement is made by those seen higher themselves than others, some people can be pretty much good at everything in life, many talents and hobbies and qualities though they are humble and modest and kind hearted, i have friends like that

  • @psycho1279 personality is basically the mind or the ego - the terms are interchangeable as it is really jujst self identity - given the context of the current system of competition and survival, the problem is that each one's personality has been designed within this context, which is separation

what i found is that my personality does not really want equality because it is like it fears losing itself - and the desire for equality is always deception because it is not actually living equality

  • I'm with you, Adrian....and I admire you. We should get more LGBT people to join in...

  • @chaucer555 what is LGBT?

  • @adriandrum lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people...

  • @chaucer555 my father is actually a transsexual, and seems to have a real problem with equality - lol

may all who would dare stand up for equality and life join us and live as one vote for world equality - equal money and a dignified life for all

  • @adriandrum LGBT people are discriminated against in many ways in most places. I support Equalilty for ALL. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and to benefit from the same legal and social opportunties and protections of others. Thank you for supporting equality and your visible reminder of it.

  • has anyone ever called you sexy? because you are!

  • What does equality look like to you & the organization you affiliate with? I would like to learn & empathize with what you stand for. Help me to form that connection with what you believe & see what the way you do.

  • @juanmora19910209 come check it out and you will see

  • @adriandrum It's a deal. Where would you recommend I start?

  • @juanmora19910209 start wherever you like, just make sure you investigate thoroughly

go to the desteni homepage,i cant link you here

  • Correct me if I'm mistaken, I don't believe I am but I might be, but you are a part of "Desteni" right? Equal Money Equal Rights Equal Life, One Political Party with One Economic System run by people like You & me. Let me ask, How would this ultimate goal come to fruition, what does the final product look like? Because to me it looks bleak, a Stepford Wive's scene, a cult. A farm of brain washed people. True communism, not the "communism"we have today. Does equality=freedom of choice?

  • @juanmora19910209 i'd suggest doing alot more research on what we are actually saying and presenting. freedom of choice includes the freedom to abuse - is that acceptable?

  • I want to express a concern I have with your description, and if you can shed some light on my concerns it would be greatly appreciated. I'm aware that all organizations/entities exist for the good of someone, no one exists to do evil, and if they have evil means it's always justified by holy ends. I agree with bald head=non-vanity, but the way you present it as loss of personality for equality creeps me out. I'm all for freedom but I don't think that's really what you mean by equality.

  • @juanmora19910209 it is about giving up personality as a point of self interest

  • @adriandrum what is the point of giving up personality? then everybody would be the same. who would want that?

  • @triniman2408 to stop abuse - personality is always created in self interest - everybody already is the same and yet completely individual as we exist alone

individuality does not need to be created - that is an illusion

  • @adriandrum where do you hear this cultous nonsense from? what is your purpose in life? i mean who cares if personality is created in self interest? what is wrong with self interest?

  • @triniman2408 when a person regards themselves as being worth more than others as self interest - that is not cool

    simple common sense

  • @adriandrum i dont think of myself as worth more than anybody. i just think of myself as different. when it said people should be equal, it is meant in terms of human rights not in terms of personality. equality in terms of making everybody the same is just dumb.

  • @triniman2408 everybody is already the same physically in that we are all human and are all made from the dust of the earth

yet everyone is always unique in our individuality as we exist alone

  • @adriandrum how is everybody the same physically. that is like saying a dog is the same is as a cake because they are both made from atoms.

  • @triniman2408 yes it is exactly like saying that - our current physical forms are temporary and the physical existence goes far beyond what we are currently - we are all one and equal within and as the physical

  • weldone for equality, bald is simply much better, fuck all the effort going in to hair just to look pretty because people do not have self value and self convidence and then fucking the earth up in the same process of wanting to be accepted by other pieces of flesh called humans.

    thanks adrian

  • so is this kinda like a reverse hippy thing, were they would grow their hair long, i respect you for who you are, but i think equality can be present regardless of hair or the lack there of = )

  • @2ruthfox82 of course it can - but this is specific to self having to give up a point of personality which is hair - very practical if standing for equality because you will find MANY will resist giving up their hair as they are attached to it as a point of personality/self interest, so it is a cool way to make an actual living visible statement that you are willing to give up that small point of personality/self interest to stand for equality

  • yes I like shaving my head for the symbollic nature of the thing too. I dont like using soap for lubricant, because I tend to scrape and cut my scalp and it burns. Although, this scalping that happens to me is only because I push so hard! Its fucked up that I like, am completely incapable of not hurting myself. -lol, i'm also really cheap. Too cheap for foam, &I use a toothbrush to push the build-up hair bits out of the blades so each razor can be used for about 2 - 2.5 shavings each.

  • @Ben1607 good tip for when it gets too long - using a brush to get the hair out of the razor

i find im more prone to cuts with a fresh razor whereas a blade thats been used a few times is usually better on me

  • perfect vid, perfect haircut! :-)

  • cool Adrian for standing here for/as Equality !

  • MeatBag shaves his head for LIFE!!

  • @katieconklin lol, so does PacMan

  • Thanks Adrian. Cool!

  • thanks for sharing Adrian

  • haha - there's a hunk in this vid - a hunk of flesh!

    thanks adrian

  • @LLCraver lol

  • @LLCraver hihi lol

  • Am I willing to stand up for equality in this simple act - that is so in fact - very cool Adrian, I simply enjoy this discipline becoming part of who I am as my standing every day, definitely a reminder for Self to Stand up Every day for Life - thanks!
