From what I see the babies head changed shape a bit, how long does it stay like this for? and is it dangerous to use this type of delivery (i know its sometimes neccesary)
he looks fıne now. he ıs almost 10 months.he was 8.11 at bırth. ı had an epıdural and pıtocın. ı dıd not feel the urge to push at all.. ı was pushıng because ı was feelıng my conractıons and ı was beıng told to push. ı dont recommend epıdural for thıs reason. ıf you could do wıthout ıt please do so. ı tore 2nd degree and had urınary ıncontınence afterwards. ı hate vacuums assısted delıvery. ı dont even know ıf ıt was really necessary.....
I had a vacuum assısted bırth, I asked the doctor why ıt was necessary, she saıd I was too tıred . I pushed for about an hour and she decıded to use the vacuum. My baby had a fractured clavıcle probably due to thıs. at the hospıtal though, I was told he was fıne and had no health concerns. I notıced how he wasnt usıng hıs rıght arm much, after tellıng hıs pedıatrıcıan twıce, she fınally saıd ı was probably rıght lookıng at a bump on hıs clavıcle. after a month that bump went away.
hey there what a lovly video,i have been lucky and all 3 of my children have been posteria births all episiotomy and one suction birth this mainly because the cord was wrapped around her like a bacpack to me this is normal i know no different no labour was over 6 hours only gas for pain some forums are stateing blame for this position with the mother for not being active enough bulls**** i walked miles on school runs during pregnancy never slowed down i just have a small weird shaped pelvis.
i delivered my second son by vacuum assisted delivery. After delivery there was huge swelling on his head. It gone in 4 days but skin of that are is still loose. How was about your son?
Congrats on the recent addition! Nice video too, btw!! My daughter was born posterior too (almost a year ago). Thank goodness I was able to push her out without the use of suction! I did push for 2 hours though, and needed a 2nd degree epesiotomy! Oh, and just curious, did you have back labor? "They" say Posterior babies usually make you have back labor, mine sure did!!
I just came across this. Thank you so much for sharing. I saw my first birth Tuesday afternoon as a student nurse. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed.
Very Nice. I think that when people get judgemental in how birth sometimes goes, they should remember that if this baby had been born 100 years ago (when there was little available in the way of interventions) it may have died or been damaged by anoxia. We are blessed to have the ability to have interventions that save babies and mothers.
this video has been put together beautifully. congratulations on your son & daughter. our first baby is due in 7 days-one week today on 6th decemebr & s/he is currently o/p - i like how they're referred to as 'sunny side up'!!
i've been crawling around - much to the amusement of our two dogs - & bouncing on my gym ball, but so far, nothing.
I too delivered my first girl posterior and had a vacuum delivery with a fourth degree tear as well. The cord was twice around her neck but she did just fine. I was amazed at your video. Great job mama. You should be proud!
The decreased heartbeat was from the cord around the neck. It's called a nuchal cord. The delivery was at the hospital. It was not attemptetd at home. Most Certified Nurse Midwives deliver babies at the hospital! I think you are thinking of a lay midwife or professional midwife. They deliver babies at home only. Certified Nurse Midwives are Registered Nurses and then go back to college to obtain a Masters degree to get a Special Certification. They are Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
What was the reason for the decreased heartbeat? The cord around the neck? Did the midwife gather this and then send the mum to hospital for the hopsital birth then?
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Posterior births are very difficult especially for first time mothers. The main reasons the vacuum was needed was because the heart rate was low due to the cord being wrapped around his neck. This helped promote a faster delivery. Baby Finn was a small baby 5#'s so I really think he could have been born without a vacuum if there were no other complications. Best of luck with your new little one.
The pics of your son's birth are beautiful, and it must be a beautiful reminder of such a wonderful day. It's refreshing to see someone who strives for a vaginal birth but is realistic enough to understand that intv are necessary at times. Congrats on both of your children!
Unlike certain people and their beliefs, I think all births, including ones with intervention, is beautiful. I know the birth of my daughter, also vacum extraction due to VERY low heart rate, was the most empowering, beautiful, and momentous day of my life. And from seeing your story, I believe yours was as well. Congrats again!!
Thanks so much. It amazes me how many people are so judgemental when sometimes we have no control over what our bodies do with birth. I know birth is very natural but sometimes intervention is needed. So thanks for your story and understanding. Congrats also to you.....
Hi -- I'm an LPN student doing a presentation on vacuum extraction and wondering if the baby's head at this point shows any signs of being delivered in such a manner. Is there any subsequent medical attention required to reshape the head, or does it return to normal in time? Thank you for this video. It's very tastefully done and educational to boot!!! I hope you don't mind if I show it to my clinical class of 9 students. It's a perfect example for our purpose! Health and happiness to you!!
Hi, The babies head at this point shows no signs or symptoms of being delivered via vacuum extraction. The babies skull is so magical. The sutures in the skull help with passage thru the birth canal therefore, the babies head actually reshapes and molds to perfectly normal within 24-72 hours after delivery. After an operative vaginal delivery the baby is monitored with blood work and close follow-up. Yes of course you can use this video in your clinical class. Best of luck to you in nursing!
My son had occiput transverse (left) position. We didn't shot any pictures or video of the actual birth as he was in distress. This was great to see something similar to what my son's birth must have looked like.
Congratulations on both of your children. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks that is nice of you. I am so glad you enjoyed it. The birth was very amazing, beautiful and hard despite needing interventions. Thank goodness it was in the hospital where intervention could be used. Good luck in your career. I bet you will make a wonderful nurse.

i'm not too familiar about the degrees of tearing, could u clarify, please?
leverymerica 3 years ago
There are actually 4 degrees of tearing. There is a first, second, third, and fourth degree tear.
A first degree involves the fourchette, perineal skin, and mucous membrane.
Second degree tear involves the above plus includes the facia and muscle of the perineal body.
Third degree tear includes all the above plus it tears into the anal sphincter.
Fourth degee tear includes all of the above and also goes thru the rectal mucosa and exposes the lumen of the rectum.
Hope this helps. :)
