@kyra30000 Because these dolls are much more quality made... The features are more realistic and the hair is rooted to look as if it is growing from the scalp rather than glued on the head. ALso The ashley is weighted or floppy like a reborn doll.

Well first of all ashton drake dolls are NOT reborns. second, artists take hours and hours(basically weeks) painting each layer of paint, baking all the parts and rooting each hair onto their heads unlike the ashton drake dolls... if you get one off ebay the realism will NOT dissapoint you!

Hey this is the model I purchased on ebay. This reborn doll is Samantha by Marissa May it bought it for 325.00 I expected to be amused but was quite disallusioned. oh well..i always wanted a reborn, i guess they don't look the same in person than on a screen.

What's the big deal? They still look like dolls to me! When I first saw them I was amused but once I purchased one on ebay (Samantha by Marissa May) I was quite disallusioned. IT LOOKED LIKE A DOLL. And quite expensive to the point where I felt like re-selling it on ebay! BUT they seem to be a good extra-money maker. I would like to learn the art and sell on ebay. Those prices range from the cheapest 175.00 upto 1,000 dollars. Ridiculous but great for the seller.

Well you see,

We buy the expensive kits which are like $100 in some cases and the lowest prics on the kits that we buy are $70. Then we have to buy the clothes about $10, we have to buy the paints $20, the brushes $15, the mohair $20. And the labor invested in these dolls is about 1-2 weeks of work. Which I think should be worth $150. So really once you think about it it isnt that much.

They do make private peices but we have not done one with one. You tell if there boy or girl by there clothing. And by if you think it looks like a girl or a boy then you put clothes that fit most appropriatley for the gender.
