Here I was using a Fender Princeton Chorus 1x10". However, now I use a Vox AC-15 and with the top boost/overdrive, you can get even more of that classic overdriven, early Rush sound.
I personally love the stock pickups that are factory installed: ('57 Gibson humbuckers ) But, you might try the Gibson Burstbucker Pros or another option would be the Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbuckers.
Are you serious !? They actually played this one !? This is one I've only heard them olay live on back in the 70's, which is too bad because it's one of my favorites. To answer your question, it's the second song on side one of Fly By Night.
It is off of their "Fly By Night" album...1975!!!! :)
We are going to see them in two weeks. So did they play some of their older material? When we went to see them last summer, they played almost all newer songs. It was great, but I would still like to hear some of their older stuff too.
I guess they figure that they have been playing their older material for so many years that they want to do something different. Before Snakes & Arrows, they were playing a whole lot of their older songs live. I guess it's good to shake things up every now and then.
That sounds awesome! My dad and uncle both had matching cherry 335's back in 1974. There's a picture of them playing them together. Ever since I saw that picture, I was drawn to the 335. They have such amazing tone and the second you hear one, you know that it's a 335!!! Love it.
awesome guitar, you are a great player,i play the intro riff on the first and second fret but the way you play it sound great.
That's a shame that Rush don't play the old songs very often my dream it's see Rush playing:
Best i can + Finding my way + Anthem + What's your doing + Bastille day + beneath between and behind + i think i'm going bald + in the mood. played entirely
all songs from the first album, i'm not just like the old Rush album but the old Rush Kick ass!!!
Thanks for the compliments. I really appreciate that. I wish they would play more of the older material as well. I love all of their albums, but yeah...There's nothing like their early stuff. I know a lot of their early songs Geddy's voice was way higher. Maybe he feels uncomfortable singing the songs that are so high. I don't know? I too would love to hear more of the obscure songs that they never do..."Lakeside Park", "Fly By Night", etc...
I saw em in KC and it was AMAZING!!!...I definitely love their older stuff the most but I LOVE how heavy the new album is...and the layering Alex did on it is outrageous!
It's one of my favorites too! I love every song Rush has written!!! Their new album is awesome. We went to see them for their Snakes & Arrows Tour in Chicago. I think their new album is their best since Counterparts! Still yet, I would have to say that their older material is my favorite (cira 75-81)BUT.... I love it all!!!! :)
Incredible!

Not bad. You made the solo your own. That's not a criticism. You hit the major themes of the solo.

I want a white one like Alex had, would be cool, but you can't find them. I think they are probably a rediculous price too.

Yeah, I wanted one too. I saw a video on YouTube of someone playing one a while back ago. They are awesome!

Great job, man. I'm trying to get a similar tone out of my 335 for Rush stuff. Mind me asking what sort of amp you are using?
