  • Jesus, never was against the death penalty. The God of the old testament was Jesus before he came to earth and was born of the virgin Mary. He said the state had the duty to bear the sword. Anyone who believes that Jesus is against the death penalty, doesn't know their bible very well!

  • Huckabee is a piece of garbage!! His only response is that Jesus would not run for office?! Jesuse would oppose the death penalty in every way, shape, and form! Jesus would also denounce capitalism! You can't be a Christian and be a capitalist people!

  • so u are saying that murderer isn't a person (not existed), the deicsion to put his to death was not by an individual but by everyone in the state? doesnt that make everyone a murderer? the state agree to kill an individual because he committed a *serious* crime...if u were a christian or whatever belief is it ur decision to make to take someones life did u create that life? even if dealth penalty makes people happy that doesnt make us a better human being

  • YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT JESUS DAMN IT.??

  • great question but still who cares about Jesus hes a mythical person

  • ....sooo wwjd fellas?

  • Also, if you're on welfare and about to have a second meal ticket fucktard, you should be denied benefits for your first mistake unless you have an abortion. Forced abortions? Hell yeah, byatch! And no more tax breaks for the fourth brat for non-welfare breeders! Too many people in this world!!!

  • I'm definitely pro-death penalty. Some criminals are so sociopathic or convinced that God is on their side when they kill, they must be killed too. However, abortion is another way to prevent crime. Many who have them wouldn't have raised their kids right anyway.

  • we dont execute enough people fast enough or cheaply enough

  • I'm weird. I am pro choice, pro war in extreme circumstances (defense, and to stop genocide), pro death penalty (for multiple homicides, multiple rapes, torture, and pedophilia), and pro euthanasia (for degenerative, incurable, untreatable diseases like Lou Gehrig or Mad Cow, or if they have been in a coma long enough to kill their brain cells). About the only time I'm in no way pro death is when it comes to guns and WMDs, but again, I think I'm weird.

  • Wtf? " Jesus was smart enough to not run for public office." Again , Thats not the fucking question.

  • @TheSharen42 I don't think smart is the right word. He's not sleazy enough. Plus there's the fact that he's a. might not have existed, and/or b. if he did exist, he's been dead for about 2000 years. Though honestly I still think he's a better candidate than any of these guys. lol

  • @Jonstern1983 I respect you'r opinion, but my point is I feel as if all he did with the answer was to consume time. When Anderson came around to the REAL question he came back with " He would have never run for public office." When most people, including me , would assume that Jesus probably would NOT have supported the death penalty.

  • @TheSharen42 true.

  • He tippy-toed away from the Christian, screw you, Huck.

  • I give that guy alot of credit and respect for the way he answered that question and agree, I also am a christian and fight everyday to do the right thing but it's true some things are unforgivable and everyone in their life has the chance to either do the right thing or do the wrong thing

  • @kellum634 killing someone is murder

  • @jAcKsonmUzic killing is defined as “[to] cause the death of (a person, animal, or other living thing)”

murder is defined as “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another”

no where does it say killing is illegal according to law. in the act of self defense, and the defender must kill to save his own life, is he according to law, unlawfully killing someone? premeditated?

  • Just great, here's a guy who wants to be elected telling the public that when it comes to the issue of the death penalty his answer to whether or not it is applicable is to say that hewoudl pray to Jesus for the answer.

    Fuck me.

  • @kellum634 I understand our Judicial system is one of the best in the world. And I understand it isn't perfect. That is why the death penalty should not be an option, because it isn't perfect. I can name a few, but you are right - not a lot. But in my opinion, one murder of innocent life by the state is one too many. What purpose does the death penalty serve? It kills a killer. That is more about revenge than it is justice. And there is a difference.

  • @biologos101 you know... you've just reached the core truth of the matter...

I was asking myself whether the death penalty is good or bad.... debating with myself... I seemed to be returning to yes to the death penalty... I mean if someone killed some I cared about I would want them dead... so is that the answer?... but you said it, best answer: death penalty is a form of revenge and not justice!

  • @bbphnix

OK, you'd want to kill him. But that wouldn't be justice, that would be revenge. And Justice isn't revenge in civilized nations. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any courts, tribunals and judges, The victim would be allowed to do justice for himself.

To prevent justice from becoming a tool for private revenge, mankind created a justice where the victim don't decide the sentence.

So the argument saying that death penalty should exist because the victim wants to, is irrelevant.

  • @kellum634 So it's not murder when our pathetic justice system Kills an innocent person? You have double standards for a government that doesn't deserve them./

  • @kellum634 You didn't answer the question. You said as long as you are convicted by a jury of your peers, It's not murder. What if someone was proven innocent after being convicted and executed? Is it still not murder?

  • @kellum634 So it's not murder when they have been convicted, killed and then are proven later to be innocent? LMAO Rationalize your need for murder to exist in this world anyway you want.

  • Refer you to Leviticus and Revelations 18-6.

  • The Commandment, "Thou Shall Not Kill", is incomplete. It would be more accurate to say "Thou shall not deliberately take the life of another person and without their free CONSENT ". "CONSENT" may be given explicitly in word or writing, OR IMPLICITLY THROUGH ACTION THAT SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS. The act of intentionally murdering someone without their consent is in effect AGREEING WITH THE MORALITY OF YOUR ACTION AND GRANTS YOUR IMPLIED CONSENT TO BE KILLED YOURSELF. Is NOT UNMORAL

  • @treyncoop Well commiting suiside is also a sin so that isnt true

  • Did Christ not give His consent to be subjected to murder. Admit it, that is suicide. So are you saying Christ commited a sin. I don't think so because he gave His life for a greater prupose.

  • Abortion IS worse (only should be legal if the mother's life is in danger plusthe baby is going to die anyway), but the death penalty should only be legal is if it is ABSOLUTELY the ONLY way to prevent someone from killing another....But I have yet to discover a case like that! It also takes more money to carry out the death penalty (i.e.trial after trial..) than to provide for them in jail.

  • Physical justice does exist, if someone damages your care, he should pay for the fix. Everyone is happy.

Moral justice doesn´t exist. What advantage do you have if the murderer of your son is killed? What advantage does your son have from it?

So Jurisdication in those cases is only usefull to stop people from doing it again, for which life-long does a very good job.

Therefore the death penalty is a sign for an immature and hatred-driven society.

  • @dumbzebra AGREED. But we are not a hatred-driven society, we just worry that without the death penalty, there is not enough of a deturant. We also worry that they can escape prison. Its not always because we are angry at the murderer or rapist, and want him to suffer. But I agree, because a life sentence is enough to deture others, keep them from committing crime, and @ the same time preserve the murderer's god-given rights.

  • @xtcarnage15586 but it has been proven that death penalty really exactly do that, in fact in some cases it will drive the individual to extremes knowing that "i have already crossed the line"

  • 9/11 was an inside job ... Proof ... youtube.com/watch?v=ssuAMNas1us

  • I would probably prefer death to life in prison.

  • Public opinion should not determine justice.

  • What a bunch of fucking morons. URGH.

  • Nice how he avoided the question

  • I don't believe that. There are just as many studies that show it does deter crime. Anyway, its not just about deterrence (which I am not trying to downplay because it is a huge factor in my support for the death penality), it is also about justice.

  • Sorry for the grammar errors.

  • Huckabee supports the death penalty and he understands it. It should be done, but you have to make sure there truly guilty.

  • Sorry if there were any grammar errors. I am trying to work on that, but keep in mind it is just a comment on YouTube and not some essay.

  • Wow they completely dodged that question. They know what Jesus would do. They are so going to hell. Lol. Hell. What a funny concept.

  • dude, that question was absurd. how can you ask a question about religion in a country that made sure to be divided by church and state? we are clearly heading off the train tracks from actual democracy to a very opinionated religious regime! this question based on normal human morality is better without the reasoning of religion. we don't need religion to tell us what's right and wrong, we can make the decision ourselves

  • @bealmeister He was pointing out the hypocrisy within the individuals who consider themselves to be "Christian-Conservative." I don't think that guy is either.

  • sentence that governor to death for killing how can even be governor? HOW he is a killer!!!!!

  • I thank those of you who responded in the above debate maturely and with an open mind. I wish I could have found this web-page earlier and joined in, but I didn't.

P.S. Some of you need to hear this:

Please keep an open mind in the process of debating. Do not be stubborn or just plain ignorant. You make yourself sound foolish.

  • Both sides offer valid points, but after reading a good sum of the above comments, I have indeed changed my opinion. I now believe the death penalty is not the best answer. Due to the fact that it is cheaper, that it will give the accused more time to repent, and for MANY more other reasons, I believe the best way to go would be life imprisonment. Though some crimes are horrific and we feel that they deserve it, that doesn't make it morally correct. Only God has the authority to judge.

  • The death penalty is not murder. It is simply a somewhat severe punishment.

  • So what's the point? It doesn't prevent people from doing crimes that are punishable by death.

  • In the case of Casey Anthony I think she needs to be considered for the death penalty "IF SHE IS GUILTY" because she has shown no remorse whatsoever. She could have told what happened but she chose not to. I think the evidence in her case is overwhelming and prooves beyond ANY resonable doubt that she killed her own child - this surely deserves the death penalty. Had her childs death been an accident I truly don't think she'd be in the situation she's in now. She blames her Mom 4 everything.

  • death penalty = racism

  • By making that very statement you are proving you are a racist. Let me guess your either a stupid ass whigger, or a very ignorant black man?

  • What the commenters here don't seem to get is that the questioner is trying to point out the hypocrisy of people like Huckabee, who claim that they are pro-life but support the death penalty.

  • yhuck was right...you cannot compare the death penalty to abortion....abortion is just sick.

  • and the death penalty is murder

  • @biologos101 bullshit, murder is murder. If you are found guilty of a crime that is punishable by the death then you just committed suicide.

  • @YoureRacist Rationalize it as you will, the death penalty is state funded murder.

  • @biologos101 I AGREE. But the people making the decision are responsible not just for the convict, but also for the rest of the population who is in danger of the convict. Just putting that out.

  • if there are such horrible crimes then KILL BUSH for being the killer of thousands of lifes!!!

  • Who did bush kill? just out of curiousity...

  • yeh i dont know who bushed killed either... maybe you can enlighten us.

  • The death penalty is perfectly compatible with Christianity. It is interesting that in America you can actually have this debate. In Europe, Canada and Australia, politicians ignore public opinion. We want the death penalty brought back.

  • SIgh, leave it people to solve the symptoms and not the problem. A religion that preaches forgiveness would rather take an eye for an eye, the most barbaric and primitive sense of "justice". Rather than say, find out WHY he/she did and try to solve the problem, it is much easier the end the life instead. The quick fix is not the answer and the decision to kill another human being is made by another human being, only under a different context.

  • I strongly support the death penalty. I always have but I read about an awful murder on the internet today and it has reinforced that belief. I really cannot fathom why anyone would oppose the death penalty.

  • because the death penalty cost about twice the amount of keeping an inmate imprisoned for life.a little thing called the taxpayer..o and this is how the death penalty works out"you have killed this man so were going to kill you" how is that justice..imo.rotting in jail is worse than being releived from my wrong doings.people commit suicide to escape the consequences of their wrong doings(going to jail) so you tell me which one is worse

  • death penalty

  • Cheaper? Where have you gotten that information? Even if it was cheaper, there are more reasons than money to have a person executed. The death penalty should be an option in cases of murder and child molestation. The heinousness of the crime would determine whether that option should be undertaken. The only reason that I can think of that would make the death penalty more expensive than life in prison, would be that method of execution cost a lot of money. Life in prison seems more expensive.

  • theres a NY times article where it states in florida it cost taxpayers $51 more to keep an inmate on death row as opposed to general population alone not to mention all the trials they go through to determine this persons guiltiness...the trials are not free they are very expensive

  • If that is the case shorten the amount of time that one serves on death row. Streamline the process and cut the time you serve there in half.

  • That said, I still would like to see the death penalty be a rare occurrence. However, their certainly is a place for it. We cannot be nice about crime. We need to undertake an aggresive anti-crime policy as a country. That means cutting perks out of prison, giving the police all of the resources they need to fight the problem, reexamining our attitudes about the drug war and deciding whether we should legalize certain drugs, so we can focus on the really terrible substances.

  • We must initiate tort reform to unclog the prison system. We must create programs to prevent youth from falling into criminal lifestyles. We must put more police into the areas with the highest crime rates and give them the authority to handle the situation. Finally, we must declare an unwavering war on gang violence. It must be wiped out because too many innocent people have been killed and because it is destroying neighborhoods that should be living in safety.

  • This should be titled "how many ways can a republican avoid a question"

  • who gives a fuck what jesus would do?

  • @Dizzzaniel christians

  • @Dizzzaniel Have being satans bitch in hell.

  • more people than you may realize

  • am i the only 1 watching this video and thinking:

What the fuck is questions about religion have to do with how you run the gov.??

"There shall be no religious test for any office in goverment"

    ^ring a bell 2 anybody??

  • I love Governor Huckabee and believe he has the good judgement, even temperment, character, integrity and leadership to make a great president. I fully expect him to get there...hope it is in 2012.

  • The fact that he as one of the leaders of USA, consults the Bible for Advice... worries their European...

  • jesus probably never existed

  • Simple - the commandment says thou shall not "murder", not kill. SO many people think it says kill.

If you kill and are convicted by law - you have murdered.

And if you kill them according to law - there is no murder.

And as the gov says, it may also be for our protection.

    Excellent answer by Huckabee.

And if a state has a law allowing for the killing of convicted murderers, then there you have it.

Exodus 20:6 Thou shalt not murder (original hebrew text)

  • Huckabee is also saying it is up to man to judge whether to end a life. Wow. "What would Jesus do?" was never answered. I believe according to Christianity, judgement of sin is reserved to God, no?

  • Yes it is. Good to see that you have a knowledge of the bible.

Which means you know that man is not judging whether to end a life - but God is.

As we have said, he has commanded us not to kill, so we are following his word.

The hard part - which the govenor says - is knowing that it is a decision that cannot be reversed. He or she may be innocent.

But as God knows, we are not infallable.

But it's good to see a former govenor who seems to have honestly wrestled with that.

  • so, based on your reasoning, if you kill and get away with it (therefore not convicted by law), you didn't break the Commandment?

Stop twisting the Bible to justify your political positions, please.

  • Not sure how one can "get away with it" since you would be breaking God's law. And society's as well. Everyone will have to answer for their actions and will be judged.

It has nothing to do with politics. In fact politics often make things worse re the law.

  • There it is!, God will always know because He is the only One who can judge us. Our human laws are imperfect and we are imperfect judges. Besides, even the greatest sinner has a chance of Salvation. Death penalty takes that away from them and is therefore a sin and we shouldn't do it.

  • You are getting it! Well, almost.

God certainly is the only one who can judge us. And if we don't follow his word then we OURSELVES have made a judgement that we will disobey. And in our imperfect world we will error in our laws (slavery) - and miss God's law. Sometimes we can abide and correct it (slavery - and notice it was christians who led the way?), and other times we stray even further. But we will all face a final judgement.

The death penalty doesn't violate gods law.

  • It is legal, and not murder.

But yes - the dealth penalty end's the sinners chance for repentance. But by murdering he already judged that he will disobey God. So he made his own judgement, and will face God's.

But anyone can be forgiven if he/she asks. But don't wait too long....

    -take care

  • We agree that some human laws have been and are against God's law and we should fix them, you mentioned slavery and I will add abortion. I think abortion should be illegal and the death penalty should be illegal (although I think abortion is much worse because it affects people who are 100% innocent) but in both cases a human life is ended by another human being or society. My faith tells me that when God stated the Ten Commandments, he made no exceptions. We must not kill our neighbor.

  • i concur. i dont see how their death will solve anything. i know the worst kids in schools that made complete turn arounds from counseling. But to think they arent even deserving of living the rest of their life makes no sense, there is always hope in our darkest times. hope can lead that change, no hope, no ability to make that change our difference. How can we reproduce his crime on himself to make is justifiable. should rapists be raped, molesters be touched by children?

  • ...and I'd rather not bet my soul on the distinction you make between killing and murdering. I encourage you not to either.

take care, it's fun debating with you.-

  • "Our human laws are imperfect and we are imperfect judges." - cristiandemocrata

You say that as if to imply that religious standards somehow aren't human laws. o.o

  • Ah, so killing people is ok if enough people agree that the guy should die.

  • The Huck is such an ass-wipe, it's pathetic that he got so many votes from these slobberers.

  • He didn't answer the question, then he didn't answer the question again

  • why is he comparing crimes to other crimes? Sin is sin. Killing a man leaves him no chance for him to repent. It's clear and simple.

  • mass agreed murder is moral?

  • the death penalty is not a moral punishment but crminals thrive on societies compassion and understanding and they use it against us. Jesus taught us to love our enemies but the only way to trully take out criminals is by of course killing them. It is immoral but necessary.

  • not only is the death penalty barbaric, but DOESN'T deter people. this is a true fact. in addition, how by killing a murderer, will this make any difference but fill us up with revenge and hatred. the death penalty is designed for... designed for what?? how come he is a christian conservative, but feels that the death penalty is civilised!!! it is murder!!!

  • Did Huck just say that a fetus's life is ended before it even exists? I thought life begain at conception Huck.

  • well said...he in fact did say that...lol

  • They should have let Ron Paul answer that one.

  • You are barbarians the EU is the only continent that is civilized.

  • Yeah except at a soccer game LOL

  • You are civilized? you need to learn from europe

  • So, if I understand him correctly, when you are in a uterus it is terrible if you are killed, but as soon as the kid pops out it's fair game? Problematic . . . .

  • they ignored the question. no way would jesus support the death penalty. you are stupid and ignorant if you think that

  • Of course he wouldnt, he would forgive him. But that easy to do when you are THE SON OF GOD lol. We arent Jesus, so clearly we will never DO WHAT JESUS WOULD DO, or that would mean we were perfect and free of sin, according to Christians. So it kinda doesnt matter what he would do, because we are not on "his level"

  • that was the biggest cop-out answer i have ever heard. fuck your pride, admit when you are wrong, and do what your magic man would do. trying to rid yourself of the responsibility by saying that you can never get to his level so why even try is the biggest bullshit that religious people spew. you should be ashamed of yourself.

  • "I look to Jesus, and I throw my reason and critical faculties into a pit of smouldering flames before clapping to the left side and singing kumbaya"

  • I say the Chinese have it right. 1 week, 1 bullet, and bill the family. Take all the saved money and give tax payers (people who actually pay taxes) a break.

Oh, if the family of the accused doesnt have the money for a bullet Im sure the victims family will spring for it.

  • Haha! The death penalty's so silly! :-)

  • Hmm i'm a muslim and i agree with Ron Paul's response. The reason i agree with the death penalty is because like Paul said that some crimes are radically extreme(too lazy to get correct wording). For example, if, God forbid, your mom or sister or family member was raped, and you found the killer, what would you do? Kill him/her or call the police? The crime should be reviewed carefully like Paul said.

xD "Jesus would be too smart to run for political office"

    What happened to no Church-N-State?

  • Jesus was so supportive of the death penalty that he died in our place so that not only could we be forgiven but that justice be properly served.

    Ooooh... there you go.

  • the host looks extremely attractive. what's his name? ;-)

  • Anderson Cooper, aka the Silver Fox, aka my future husband.

  • Yo guys, knock it off... The expensive thing in your death penalty are all the failsafe procedures, not the penalty itself. Go chinese and once found guilty, schedule execution for 1 week time and bill the family of the executee for the bullet. Did I save you money? ha! They issue is wether to kill or not to kill another human being because of what he did. And the religious guy: God (as I presume you believe) gave us the gift of life... Is it ous to take it from others, no matter what they did?

  • Romans 12:19 "Vengeance is mine, thus sayeth the Lord."

That means, only God has the the right to kill people.

The death penalty is nothing more than legalized murder as far as I'm concerned!

  • rock on, my fellow Christian.

many don't know that it costs 2-5 times more to kill an inmate than to have that same inmate carry on the rest of his days in prison. Many don't know that 95% of death row inmates cannot afford their own attorney!

  • Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

Do you follow these laws? You believe Jesus was Yahweh so don't even think of presenting that argument. Also, saying it lost less to keep someone in prison than to execute them is plain retarded.

  • hmm, i think you should look at John 8:1-11. That passage, in my opinion, lays out how we should view those Old Testament laws. And please note that Jesus was not arguing about the law or the woman's guilt, but rather the right to execute her.

And if you are skeptical about whether or not killing an inmate costs 2-5 times more than keeping him alive, I can give you several references that point to its authenticity.

  • The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever. [Isaiah 40 verse 8]

1 Peter 1 verses 24 and 25. And in Psalm 19:7 the Bible says: "The law of the Lord is perfect."

Matthew 5 verse 20 Jesus says: "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:20

You call those laws righteous? If you do you belong in jail.

  • "And if you are skeptical about whether or not killing an inmate costs 2-5 times more than keeping him alive, I can give you several references that point to its authenticity."

You are a complete retard if you think one bullet cost MORE than keeping a death row inmate alive for years. One meal cost more than one bullet. Are you really that stupid?

  • Surely you know that the justice system does not use a single bullet to the skull but usually lethal injection. I should also point out that in California the current system costs $137 million per year; it would cost $11.5 million for a system without the death penalty. There are other states I could use as examples if you like but the text limit is catching up to me.

I welcome such a lively debate. Lets respect each other. No name calling.

Please look at John 8:1-11 before responding.

  • Hence, the bullet. When the end result is killing someone, why not use a bullet? It's far cheaper. Your argument is still a moot point. There is no way the cost of one lethal injection is higher than keeping a death row inmate alive for the of their lives, decades possibly. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." - Matthew 5:17

Straight from Jesus. I'm right, you are wrong. Deal with it.

  • Something tells me you still did not look up John 8:1-11, my friend. It is not uncommon for a person to spend years on death row waiting for their execution.

The average time for an inmate on death row to be put to death was just over 12 years.

You cannot deny this any more: studies in Texas, Cali, Florida, N. Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, Tennessee, New Jersey, and Washington all found that the death penalty costs more than non-death penalty cases.

  • How is life in prison less expensive than a mere 12 years on death row then execution? How expensive can a bunch of stones cost to throw at someone? Followers of Abrahamic gods are quite fond of that method of execution even today.

  • It costs more b/c case law mandates that a defendant facing a possible death sentence is entitled to 2 attorneys rather than just 1. Capital defendants are entitled also to representation by relevant experts in their cases (investigators, mitigation specialists, psychs, etc.) all paid for at state expense. And let's not forget the appeal process. This eats up most of the money and is done to prevent the execution of an innocent person.

I'm afraid this is the fifth time i have had to tell you...

  • ...that this system costs more. If you decide to respond to this comment, please choose to read my response prior to asking "why does this cost more?"

I feel that this debate is just going in circles with you. Because these facts surprise you, you deny them.

A system with the death penalty costs far more. Before refuting this statement, please take the time to do a little bit of research regarding the subject. Pay special attention to the states I mentioned before.

  • Your still wrong. You think all of the above cost more than decades of life in prison? All you have to do is add up cost of food, heating, water, sanitation and personnel. You are basically arguing that an empty jail is more expensive than a full jail. This is completely ass backwards.

  • i do realize it's counter intuitive, but mekel is right, and the government knows it. in the case of Maryland, it costs roughly 1.9 million more for the trial alone. that could house the prisoner for 72 years. as provided by the national institute of corrections and usdoj.

in California it costs $114 million more a year to house their death row inmates than if they were in the general prison population.

i can provide links to any of the info if you like.

  • Do you see now, Akinadownhillace? the facts are available for anyone willing to listen and they tell us that it does indeed cost more to carry out the death penalty.

I can also provide the links to my sources if would like to read up on them yourself. But please do not the deny the facts anymore.

  • Oh but I do understand, you are a complete nutter. You may was well sell your snake oil to some either religious moron.

  • lol, I do not understand how my religious beliefs would cause you to not recognize facts on the topic we are discussing.

If you respond to this comment, i will gladly send you the links to several websites that will tell you (if you read them) that the death penalty costs far more than a system without the death penalty.

You should also note that there is no shame in recognizing new information or being corrected on a subject.

I dont ask a lot, only that you acknowledge the facts.

  • He sucks

  • He is evading the question...and then, in the end, when he is confronted with the ACTUAL question...he uses a sense of humour to answer...you resemble pontius pilate...one who believes himself to be merciful but, in actual fact, is no better than the persecutors...i spit on you

  • there are many people that kill because thay love to its called satan possesion of the soul and the only way to cure them is by exorcism if that does not work then long term isolation from the public because if the evil spirit in that person is not delt with it will kill again

  • now dont say us.

    WE dont kill people.

    YOU do.. you fucker

  • a real christian always forgive

  • you noe if jefferson would be alive today he would be disscused how these christian conservatives that want church and state together and talk about jesus he would be furiors with them!!

  • WOW. Nobody had the balls to say one way or the other. We all know the truth....Jesus would support it, IF that was the mood he was in. There is no way to know because the bible is not consistent.

  • Actually the bible is very clear that murderers should be put to death, and that "their blood shall be upon their own heads" for what they have done. I can start quoting/interpreting scripture to you if you like, but your name indicates you might not like that. lol

  • You are referring to the old testament: an eye for an eye and such as.

Jesus' life as portrayed in the new testament was about forgiveness, understanding, helping those less fortunate, denial of wealth, and taking up your own cross. That's the problem with the bible, it should have been released in two different printings.

  • Naww, Jesus says that he will come back to divide family and destroy the earth and all those who do not love him. A LITTLE contradictory of previous statements.

  • most of the scriptures dealing with the death penalty are in the old testament, however Jesus also talked about it in the new testament as well. It would do you good to read the Bible, and try to understand it, before actually commenting on it.

  • I searched the English Standard Version Old Testament for the phrase "put to death" it showed up 69 times. There were 9 results for the New Testament. Also, of interest to me is this: Numbers 35:30 "If anyone KILLS a person, the MURDERER shall be put to death on the evidence witnesses..." Seems "killing" and "murder" are synonymous.

The bible writings were written (mostly) by and for the Jewish people. I'm not a bible scholar, I rely on translation, and I realize much is lost in translation.

  • It also says turn the other cheek. Or he who is without sin cast the first stone. But as bloodthirsty as god and jesus seem to be I would say they would support it.

  • ooh, very true, however his LIFE did not portray the vengeful, sword wielding warrior. He given this hat until his second coming, sooooo... he gets to be a war-monger when he comes back. :D

  • Jesus said that the law should be in your inward parts. Jesus let his heart guide him. This did not make the phrases and Sadducees very happy.

Those people followed the word to the letter. I think that Jesus is telling us we should use our hearts along with the law.

  • Don't be offended but i think your problems lie deeper and can't just be "scared away" by the death penalty. I live in Germany, we don't have death penalty and still have only 800 murders a year. Life in prison is scary enough if you think about it and if you're still willing to kill someone you must have some serious problems even the death penalty can't keep you from doing it.

  • Does Germany have a parole system that can released someone from a "Life in prison" sentence? America does! I will gladly trade the death penalty if our parole system can be eliminated.BTW the Death penalty Does keep THAT person from killing again CAUSE THEY WILL BE DEAD!

  • of course we have parole but when someone is still dangerous, he will be put in "sicherheitsverwahrung" which means he still won't get out even when his sentence is over. Death penalty keeps THAT person from killing, but doesn't prevent other people from doing it and that's the point. And how many people kill someone when they get out of prison after many years of "life in prison"? Not many. So it's just not worth all the killing. Just put them away and don't let the dangerous once out again.

  • Actually a lot of dangerous criminals are released and commit many violent crimes,in fact we have 50+% re-offense rate here.there are many more murders from paroled or released offenders, than from our death penalty. The Death penalty was never intended to prevent others from "doing it";it was intended to make sure the guilty did not kill again.there are also many more murders committed in prison than there are executions in the US.

  • so you're telling me your countries best way to prevent people from killing eachother is to kill them first? ^^ And death penalty is not an example made to prevent crime but because you don't see any other way to keep people from killing? And because you can't even stop people from killing eachother when they're captured? Come on.

  • I hate to admit to some of these things, because our politicians are idiots that have ruined our criminal justice system. We are not (as you put it)preventing people from killing each other by killing them first. We kill them after they have been caught committing the most unimaginable murders possible. Are you saying there is NEVER a justification for the death penalty??!not even Adolf Hitler?,and those that rape/torture and kill children?

  • ...and Hiter is back on the table. No, i don't think people who raped and tortured children should be killed because most of them have psychological problems so they should be placed in a high security mental facility. And as for hitler - if you put a crazy racist on the top of your country and tell him he is right, you can't really give him all the blame for doing what he was elected to do. And after all he was a politician.

  • Wow those are really good excuses for evil nut cases.I don't really believe that Hitler was elected to do what he did, even though the German people supported him.I would gladly trade the death penalty for a system that ensured a murderer would never leave his solitary confinement(at minimal public expense),unless wrongfully convicted. However, our liberal politicians give CONVICTED CRIMINALS too many rights that allow them to be released even when dangerous;so the death penalty is still needed.

  • Why shouldn't evil nut cases have the excuse of being an evil nut case? It means they are not normal and shouldn't be judged as a normal human being with conscience. And your argument is just wrong because the criminal can only be killed after many years when all his appeals are denied so if he had a chance to get out, he would have already. So you kill them after you prove they have pretty much no chances of being released.

  • do you believe, if jesus was confronted with the choice of ending one guilty life to set an example that would save countless innoccent one; what would he do then?>

  • "Whosoever sheddeth a man's blood, so shall his blood be shed" Genesis 9:6

  • lol contradictive... isnt tht exactly wat the death penalty is? if u shed blood then urs too should be shed?

  • that is why i can't stand those ignorant ass republicans. racist. narrow-minded and ignorant.

  • I don't get how gay marriage can't be legal because the bible says so, but death penalty can, although the bible clearly states that "thou shall not kill".

  • Just to clarify, the Hebrew verb for kill is "ratsach", which literally means to murder (Thou shalt not kill is in Exodus 20:13). Just one chapter later in Exodus 21:12 God demands the death penalty for someone who takes the life of another premeditatedly.

  • Yes, God! Not a US court of law...

  • lol u think this gov. is not a christian government please

  • heynouwei, bible doesn't say thou shall not kill. It say's thou shall not murder! Murder and kill are two different circumstances.
