When Norton is about to enter the house where the car bomb is, Pitt tries to get him away from there and says "come on, I got us a great place to watch it from. It will be like pay-per-view". One other thing is that the building with the car bomb in it is a big company building and the building they are inside in the end looks abandoned.

So with that in mind I very much doubt that they are in a building that is about to blow up.
