the reason that Russia had so high of a deathtoll was because of their tactics. For example if you ran out of ammo, you were told to do a blind charge for the enemy to take out as many as possible. Their methods definitely worked, but at much too high a cost. Russia lost 13.88% of their population due to the war, whereas America lost only .32%. Nonetheless, I do actually thank Russia for being a great ally back then.
Personally I would give the credit for winning the European theatre to the Russians.
But yeah overall the Americans were probably the mvp of the war, they were main force in the Pacific and in Europe they were valuable to say the least.
Still, the Russians had the largest deathtoll and still managed to drive the Germans back. Damn impressive if you ask me.

Britain was not doing well and had Britain fallen, Russia would have been Hitler's greatest focus and with the full attention of the german military, Russia too would have fallen. Britain was not doing well and had Britain fallen, Russia would have been Hitler's greatest focus and with the full attention of the german military, Russia too would have fallen. America didn't win single handedly, but they were the reason the Allies had a chance.

@JackieChandler To be truthful, America was almost the only one to defeat the Japanese in the Pacific theatre of war. Now, if you were speaking about the European side of the war, Americans really should take credit for liberating France, who can't seem to win ANYTHING. Americans also did make a significant carve up the side of Italy AND win the Battle of the Bulge. Now, it is good to guard against over-Americanization, but they DID win more than half of the war. Give credit where it is due.

if you know american history (if you live in usa) then you should know that Hitler killed himself by swallowing a pill AND THEN shooting himself in the mouth. AND it wasnt us that drove him to do it, it was the invading forces of russia. Honestly we DID help in the war but it wasnt only us, tbh the most effective thing we did was the battle of D-day related to hitler. other than that it was the A-bomb.
