i took classes and saw a consultant and everything, and i still only BF for about 2weeks it was so hard and painful and i would hyperventilate every time she got hungry... and i do not regret at all not BF, i did struggle with guilt about it and all the pressure. But now that Em is 5months i am so happy everyone can feed her and everyone can help me so much more plus i can go out and not worry about pumping or anything, now maybe thats selfish or horriable but it works for us
I saw a lactation consultant 5 times. We also had latch issues which caused cracked nipples. I bought a double pump, but trying to BF, pumping and then feeding the pumped milk to baby left me no time - I crashed and burned. Baby was more efficient at removing my milk, but I didn't have enough milk. I gave up, and then tried to relactate, but never had enough. I would consider trying to relactate again, but I'm returning to work in 6 weeks. A great resource is kellymom.com, check it out!
Thank you for sharing your experience! I can totally relate, we had similiar issues. Not successfully BF'ing is also my biggest regret. My baby was 3 weeks early and also jaundiced, she was too tired and gestationally "young" to successfully nurse. I agree, postpartum there is no time to research or learn anything, there's barely time to eat and sleep, if that. However, I did attend the class and read the book, but I don't feel like either of those helped (for our particular issues).....
Thanks for doing this video, everyone always make it sound so easy and if you don't do it you are a "bad Mom" So it is great to hear people that are still good moms even if they formula feed. I have seen a ton of babies in my line of work that are good and health breast milk or not. Do what you as a mom think is right for your baby. End of story sometimes I think people make a bigger deal out of it then is needed.
Great video I wish more people would do videos like this, this is real BF education we all hear breast is best but no one tell us to educate our selves about BF before baby comes so you can be papered its so hard to think right when you just gave birth, you are tired, weak and you have a hungry baby, I did a video very similar to yours a while back, lot of hugs. to many mums come on YouTube and on movies and tv, make BF look like it so easy, great video.
I learned the holds and went to the class but I'm still struggling with it. It's not as easy as it seems...but it sounds like you did what you had to do, and what was best for u both. Hugs!!
did you try the pump that you already had at home? im hoping to BF and i really want to, my first son i couldn't do it, he could not latch on right and i gave up , my second son i had a walmart pump that was no good, it wasn't 2 single sides , they were connected like a T shape and well im just not big enough to maneuver that so this time around i got a a double pump but they are like 2 single sides sooo fingers crossed for me to feed Emma breast milk !
i hear yuh i have invert nipples and like the first week i pumped his milk then finally he latched its so frustrating and ur right not alot of ppl tell you how rly hard BF is!
I teared up watchng this because what you went through sounds familiar with what I went through too. I really wished I had tried harder too. :(

Thank you SO much for sharing. People make it seem like breastfeeding is all rainbows and gum drops and it is SERIOUSLY hard. {hugs}
