AWESOME FIGHTING FOR... 2 seconds. Then pause and use item/assign command/wipe sweat from hands, then unpause for 2 MORE SECONDS OF AMAZING AWESOMENESS.

At least Half-Minute Hero was honest about itself.

ANYWHO, assuming this dungeon is in the endgame, how is Leon there?

@Axelhander They have Narikiri Dolls in this game that you equip to one character to turn them into another.

For Instance, if I were to equip a Narikiri Rutee Doll to Philia, I would have 2 Rutees in the party, and you can buy dolls of every character, for all kinds of party combinations! :D

I think they should let you set up shortcuts for items, like assign a Life Bottle to a certain button combination, that way you wouldn't need to go through the menu, I think that would be cool.

Keep in mind I'm not against having items per se, and while way more Tales games held my interest then, say, Kingdom Hearts, in that one it didn't feel real-time just occasionally. Just adding some context to my prior post.

The battle system very easily beats any of the Tales of games that were released in English.

There are three versions of Tales of Destiny:

Tales of Destiny (PS1) - 1997 - Original game.

Tales of Destiny (PS2) - 2006 - Remake of the game, this is the version used in this video.

Tales of Destiny Director's Cut - 2008 - Everything from the 2006 version, plus new features.

There is also a Tales of Destiny 2 on the PS2 from 2002, it picks up 18 years after Tales of Destiny leaves off.

@kracemaniac This game is well worth it, it's one of the most fun games I've ever played, and it's battle system is insanely fast paced even for the Tales of series! XD

If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend that you do.

Yeah, but if the attack is a diffrent element then that element will be used.

And you said something about items being used against him. What happens, and why does using Hourglasses not make it work?

Using items during the Barbatos fight will trigger his anti-item Blast Calibur, which kills the person who used the item, and anyone near them, so it's pretty dangerous to use items.

Using an Hourglass will stop Barbatos, so his BC can't go off, this also takes off his penetrate, so I can use a BC if I need to, or start up a combo.

Hourglasses don't always seem to work on him though, a couple of times he didn't get stopped, and killed my party with his BC, so it's a risk using one.

you are VERY lucky he didn't use World Destroyer (instant death entire field, un-flashable unlike Genocide Braver and Cheap Elimination) He does it when he is about to die and when he hits Blast 100, he takes a loong time to charge, so basically you have to stop him with a lot of hits or you die.

Funny, man. Every attack, except a Blast Calibur, can be dodged by Flash. And if it was that big a deal, they could have charged their own BC, especially Woodrows Level 3 or Rutee's level 2, and negated the attack from being used at all.

not World Destroyer buddy, and you can't stop World Destroyer by using BC cause he can't stagger when he is casting. You have hit him alot during his 10 second incantation (Geksenkou and Houou'tenkuu comes to mind) or you'll die.

Hourglass comes to mind too.

Yeah, that's the one, he spams it like crazy on Simple, but it's still possible to take him down, and he's got alot less HP on Simple.

It would probably be easier to fight on Normal or Hard than Simple though.

To answer your other question, the move you're thinking of is World Destroyer, I really dislike that move.. it's very hard to avoid.. and kills you instantly if you get hit...

Just go into the skill setup for the character in slot 2, and push select to set it to Semi-Auto (セミオート) or Manual (マニュアル).

You can also push select on the 2nd controller while in battle.

Yeah, I still can't believe he survived that, I was trying to keep Barbatos away from him with Lion (since Woodrow was the one who could bring back the party), and when he killed me, I was thinking "that's it, it's over".

That was an awesome moment when he just barely survived the attack, we were both shocked he didn't get killed.

Yeah, I didn't think we would survive when I died (trying to keep Barbatos away from Woodrow), and then Barbatos went running after petrified Woodrow, and then stops right in front of him, preparing to attack.

If that petrification had lasted a second longer we would have been done for.

Luckily my brother was quick with using Flash the second he got up.

Barbatos is always an ass. :P

He's one of the hardest bosses in the series (so is the final boss).

And for the players who set the difficulty down to Simple Mode for an easy fight when fighting him, he'll spam this really cheap move over and over that takes out everyone in front of him.

I recommend buying Flash, Cure, and Physical material.

Pushing square + down, Flash gives you temporary invincibility (really handy), Cure restores HP, and Physical attacks with the sound element (Barbatos' weakness).

I believe you can get most or all of them in Snowfreer.

Probably the nearest shop to you that sells some of that stuff is in Kalviola (in the desert area), you'll get there after a few more towns and dungeons.

Yeah, LV 10 sounds good, I think you can rest in the cabin anytime you want for free, so if you get injured, rest up there.
