Great tune. Covered by Emerson Lake & Palmer on their Works II album in the '80s. Lewis was the king when it came to boogie woogie. Thanks for posting.
Germany systematically uses torture and murder to silence any opposition. Some of the murders known to the public: Uwe Barschel, Jürgen Möllemann, Heiner Gehring, Martina Pflock, Tron, Karl Koch, Bernd Seiffert, Kirsten Heisig, Fritz Bauer.
My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during 5.5 years by the German BND. He was assassinated on 11.7.09 because of our homepage.

yes, just to echo previous comment, this is good work. I'd be very interested to see your perfected version! I have spent many many hours trying to work out *exactly* what MLL is doing with the turnaround!
Very nice! Kind of a mix between the second and third version of this. I've listened to so many people try to hack their way through this very badly and just making stuff up to cover for the very difficult parts. You did a very nice job. First "true" reproduction of this classic I've heard.
you did it again you ba****d - I'm so jealous - you must be one happy feller when your playing that piano - can't read all the comments now butjust to say I've heard rock and roll that was written down in 1600 and something - for the harpsichord as it was then, but I think it goes back some way further than that
Yup, read it seconds after posting. Feel free to delete that comment. Good work translating the recording by the way. Quite an accomplishment with all the improvisation going on.
Boogie Woogie began as entertainment for turpentine camp workers, stuck out in the depths of Southern pine forests. On Sundays, the company would bring in one railroad boxcar, with one musician, a pianist. He had to play both bass rhythm and treble melody simultaneously.
Most people have no idea how great our popular music heritage stands as a testament to both the artists and their original audience.
I second that emotion! This is a DYNAMITE version of my favorite boogie woogie number of ALL time! Hopefully all boogie fans out there will have a NIFTY New Year! :-)
i read that chuck berry got the idea for the opening chord riff for school days from the intro to this song or maybe come to think of it-johnnie johnson brought it to him.
my father used to play this tune all the time on the piano when I was a child ,it is a brilliant tune and brings back memories big time.

No, this is not a "brilliant interpretation". This is the absolute root - the first recording Lewis ever made of Honky Tonk Train
MartinJel 2 years ago
No, MartinJel, this is a synthesiser interpretation based upon Meade Lux Lewis's recording. It's all done by computer. Read the side bar information.

It's all too easy to beat it - just listen to Meade Lewis playing it on a real piano. Whoever created this subhuman dross?

Do we agree that this cannot be Meade Lux ?
