  • Thank you very much, professional and thorough. I now feel i can attempt this with confidence :)

  • Now you're halfway there!

  • Did you skip the part when you put the spring back?

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • wow this is a very long process!!!!... i will be more than happy to give me mechanic the money to do this.. not doing this on my own.

  • I did this and my rebound clicker wont move. I put the push rod in right.....any ideas?

  • Please respond: when u filled up the fork with oil for the first time and drained it through the 2 holes, did u drain all the oil or did u leave some inside? thnx

  • @XuppiHD U mean after you pump the rod a few times after you fill it and screw the cap on? drain all the oil that comes out if thats what u mean.

  • Such an awesome video series! Thank you so much for doing these, I just finished the fork seals on my CRF450 thanks to these and they are working perfectly!

  • Is it possible to change the spring without removing the stanchion from the upper tube?

  • Great step by step video, much better than following the service manual. Thanks Monty.

  • I hate how KYB forks require that 35mm inner socket cap tool to take off the part at :40-:54.... i took apart my forks and realized i didnt have that part so i had to order it and wait another 5 days

  • sick videos. you guys are awesome. keep them coming!

  • awsome job on these videos. was hoping I could change the seals on the lift without removing the fork from the bike, but gravity will be against me for adding oil i see =)

  • Very good video. You are a real pro. Thanks...

  • Top vid mate great help, thanks.

  • is this the same process for an 08 cbr 600?

  • Very very good, thankyou!

  • Good vid, just missed some reassembly like when to put the spring back in. but seriously sweet demo

  • @Jarhead1212 that's exactly what I was thinking when I was watching this. haha. good eye

  • Thanks alot bro! A local shop wanted to charge me $350 to do this job! Needless to say, Im gonna do it myself and put that money towards fuel and tires!

  • thank you so much....probably the most helpful video ive ever seen on youtube

  • do one for the WP forks!!

  • great demo!!

  • Good explaining.Thanks

  • thanks, saved me 400 dollars

  • asome this will help when i do my yz 85

  • i think you forgot a step? once you pull out the cap for the inner oil...then you dripped the old oil out... you forgot to pump out the old oil out of the push rod.....?

  • Awesome videos! Thanks alot for the help, and you are very good at explaining.

At 4:45 you skipped the step where you put the fork spring back in. I'm guessing that it just slides in just like how it came out.

    Thanks again.

  • you need two different oil types for the inside rod and another for the fork?

  • thank you and pleas do meny mor there a big hellp

  • didnt you ever hear of having extra parts when ur done(i.e. the log spring).lol just kidding great vid thanks.

  • he definitely didn't show putting the spring back in.

  • wow now i dont feel so bad paying to get mine done.

  • That was a great vid. just awesome these will help me a lot.

    Thanks!!

  • how much oil (cubics) go in outer tube (in end of video) ???

    2006 YZ 125, KYB SSS 48mm

  • For his model fork he mentioned 14 oz in the outer tube of each fork. For your bike, you probably want to take a look at the shop manual. You may be able to find that info through a Google search.

  • How often should one change the fork oil ?

  • Dave Moss, from OnTheThrottleTV says every season if you're racing.

It's basically you're call, whenever you feel that you aren't getting the critical damping that you need.

The fork oil is your friend. If you know what it's for, then you'll know when to change it.

  • how much fork oil do i need for both forks

  • very good how to video, you should do more of the same.

  • Thank you. I appreciate how thorough and slow you went.

  • Good how to video! Cleaning out the dirty oil should be done with more than just a clean rag. A cleaner/solvent should be used to make sure there are no remaining contaminets in there.

  • Great video. PUT MORE OUT!!!! Terrific job on and outstand vid. If you want more ass kissing PUT MORE HOW TO VIDS OUT!!!!

  • is that the same on a road bike ?

  • thats alot of steps

  • Fantastic video, really wasn't looking forward or confident about doing my fork seals on my 2008 YZ250F but after watching your video it was easy. Thanks you've saved me the small fortune my local bike shop was going to charge me.

    MotoSportInc rocks!!

  • we need more vidz like this, it was 100% spot on..well done MotoSportInc

  • When did he put the spring back in?

    Really good demo.thanks

  • I was thinking the same thing, he never showed putting the spring it, Otheriwse a great video. All my bikes are older models, so the forks are simpler and have less parts. But the same idea anyhow.

  • That's why you need the workshop manual lol

I think the spring goes in after the last lot of oil goes in.

  • just before 5min.

  • Muy bueno tu trabajo felicitaciones desde Argentina...Muy claro y preciso lo tuyo...

  • best demo I've seen thank you heaps.

  • Very helpful. Thank you for the video.

  • i have a 1997 stock yz125 and could i use this tutorial to change my fork seals, like would it apply to the forks i have on my dirt bike?

  • Thanks for making the tutorial, I have two Yamaha Virago's, Both are leaking fork oil, the Yamaha service dealer charges 100.00 per fork here in New Hamshire :( I would do it myself but I have no tools or workbench, It would be cheaper to let the service department fix them compared to the purchase of the tools needed for a job that is done once in a blue moon

  • FWIW, replacing seals on upright forks is far easier than U/D ones.

That said if you don't have a few decent tools or the confidence you can do more harm than good and are better to let a garage do it for you.

  • Yeah good video. I Might come back to tip you, Monty. Thanks for the video.

  • Great video I do not feel like paying someone 170.00 for changing my fork seals so this was a great help, coupled with the Haynes book I should have no problem. Good video.

  • Thanks. I was a bit unclear on a couple steps until I watched this.

  • Nice video dude but you forgot to mention checking the clearence between the bottom bolt and the lock nut.If this is not correct you wont get the correct rebound adjustment!

  • Finally.. A good video with some one that knows what they are doing. Even though Monty forgot the long spring you can figure it out if you have the manual. Thank you Monty and motosport for the great video, please make more.

  • He didn't show the part where he reinstalls the LONG spring on reassembly. I belive it should be done just after the 4:45 minute mark in the video
