  • just a fucking awesome band!

  • listened to 83857 times. zero dislikes. sums it up doesnt it.

  • I love when people compare early Talk Talk to Duran2. Would Duran ever have written Hate or a song about the nightmare of seeing your friend die and not being able to help? Mark stayed true to his writing ethic all the way to the end. Amazing group and this was my favorite song on this album.

  • Nearly crashed my car listening to this track once, it's so hypnotically beautiful it sent me into a trance.

  • i have two theories on the meaning of this song. one would be that someone died by accident and the guy is accused of murdering him. another is the guy was a drunk driver and this song is about his remorse, shame and disbelief because he ended up running someone over and killing them

  • beautiful synth wave

  • best group in new wave style

  • The bass on this track is outstanding, Brilliant band. would love to see them Live.

  • these dudes made my 80"s~~~

  • it's so hard to SLEEP AT NIGHT!!! ah that part gives me chills

  • brillant mark hollis the 80s amazing

  • My favourite Talk Talk song, it's so weird, so '80. It's so hard to sleep at night!

  • My favourite Talk Talk song, it's so weird, so '80.

  • Out of all the albums I have and I hundreds, this is my all time favorite album of ALL TIME!!!

  • now this is music. god damn this world of utter fucking shit music today. you stupid fucking parents of kids today had the privilege of experiencing the best era in music and you so passively and obliviously turn a blind eye to the CRIME which is "music" today. You wouldnt want a sex offender hurting your child, but you embrace just as serious abuse letting rubbish music infiltrate mainstream culture & disease ur kid. U are just as to blame as the industry. Songs like this are reminders of why.

  • @codern

right on, man! esp all that rap BS and alternativemetalpunkrap shit! kids today (and sadly adults as well) think it's cool and hip to be a doped-up nappy-head ghetto slob wearing saggy pants w/ their undies stickin' way out! STUPID AS HELL!!!

  • @truthaintpretty

AGREE with you in totality! Stupid MORONS think they're being stylish, but they're to dumb to understand they just look like MORONS!

  • @codern Couldn't agree more, most of today's so called music isn't of course music at all. Talk Talk should be forced fed to today's kids, maybe they might wake up to the fact that most of what is being produced today is utter shit and they haven't got the brains to realise it!!

  • @TheVaughan5

I think they'd just puke, because after having eaten so much "Junk food" over lo these many years they couldn't stomach it? You also make anther good point in that, "they don't have the brains to realize it"! That's key!

They've been so dumbed down that they "think" that Lady Gagme is music?? Go figure.

    Cool comment.

  • i guess i was 16 when i listend to this song. i was walking to my girlfriend and when we split up this song brought back all the good memories...

  • I miss the 80"s so bad realy good times for me and the music was the best not like this crap thats out now Blaaaaaaaa

  • I saw them when this album came out at UEA in Norwich..I loved them then and still do..I wish Mark would return...I close my eyes Im fifteen again, with my friends and with Steph my first real love........Great memories..."The definition of youth is life as yet untouched by tragedy"....

  • wonderful music music was my first love and talk talk the second one

  • What a wonderful track, and not a Guitar solo in sight!!.

  • Haunting.

  • loved them then, love them now....

  • Listen to the keyboard....sounds similar to Duran Duran's Save a Prayer! I wonder if Duran listened to Talk Talk?

  • I liked the other part of the album cover with the musicians body parts segments.

  • well, thanks erol alkan i guess :)

  • Sublime Hollis

  • WOOT I love this one!!!

  • Pure class-Mark Hollis was a musical genius, creating without a doubt the most harmonious yet technically perfect music of his generation. Future generations will listen to his works long after most of today's rubbish has been forgotten.

  • a great and unique song

  • beautiful...and beautiful voice

  • I've typed several requests asking Mark Hollis to come out of "retirement" and bring his troops together for ONE FINAL world tour. The support would be overwhelming, especially in America, but from the comments it is obvious Talk Talk has a worldwide audience waiting for another tour. Talk Talk is waaaaaay ahead of their time, which is why they would "fit" perfectly in today's music mix. There is no band on earth like this one.

  • thx so much for posting this ... brings me back to a simpler time

  • @lexie6677 liar

  • This is, I know it's really hard to pick and choose, but something about this song strikes a chord in me, and it is hauntingly beautiful. Love it. Could have seen these guys in 1986 at Red Rocks, which is near Denver, Colorado. The line up of bands were as follows: Berlin (yeah, the sex band), Talk Talk and headlining was Stevie Ray Vaughn. What a bizarre but truly inventive mix of bands in an evening. Wish I would've gone. Mark Hollis' voice is so unique and live he sounds awesome.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • When I heard TalkTalk the very first time I was about 23. I heard all tracks hundred and hundred times. Today I can say that' this music is one of the best and I wished I could turn back the time. Everything now is shit!

  • @PolM3P yeah i know just look at lady gaga....by musical standards shes an embarasment

  • this song me vuela la cabeza

  • under rated band from the 80s. great, singer sounds a lot like brian ferry.

  • Hello rbirrell, That's it...he does sounds like Brian Ferry. Hollis has beautifully lacrimonious ...wispy and sad tone to his voice. What really draws me is the lyrics..."A little earlier, It was a game.. I guess the barrier must have dropped away" ;..)...

  • @rbirrell Mark Hollis doesn't sound at all like Bryan Ferry, he sounds like Mark Hollis.

  • Talk Talk is phenomenal. Brilliant band and brilliant music! I love this group!!! They are AWESOME!!! Talk Talk rocks!

  • Underrated track...from an underrrated album...from an underrated band...

  • True....

  • @aviatrix911 spot on my friend

  • @aviatrix911 some critics claim that they were just another version of duran duran on that first album.. I beg to differ! talk talk were not yuppies in disguise, were they? Apart from that the first album wasn't quite up to what they achieved later on, imo. This track is beautiful though, and it's not the only one

  • @MrThomasdrewsen i think one cannot compare talk talk with duran duran, that would clearly be an affront against TT ;-)

  • @fjordur exactly

  • @MrThomasdrewsen

I really think talk talk is better

  • @ExposedBands There's no denying that on my part:-)

  • Hello, what's this then? People keep saying their first album is rubbish and the later ones are better. I heard this song and assumed it was from one of those later albums. What a load of crap to say this first album is not up to scratch.

  • Hello ajs41, I'm in complete accord with your statement. Moreover I feel robbed of the opportunity to have enjoyed this music all these years but of course the blame lies squarely on my shoulders. Well I'm making up for lost time while I convalesce from an accident. Also I think the bass player Paul Webb and the drummer Lee Harris are the best around. they get overlooked too,too often. I Absolutely Love these melodies...need to listen them over and over and over.....Thank you and Adieu

  • @ajs41 I think you'll find that their next one, ''It's my life'', is just a little more rounded and mature, eventhough it's in the same style ballpark with ''Talk Talk'' (later on, of course, they found an entirely new direction, starting with their third album, which was sort of an 'in-between'er'). But That's not meant as criticism of the very early Talk Talk. I like several of the songs on their first one - but it's only natural that some bands may need a little time to get the hang of it

  • Still brilliant after all these years :) "I'm so disposable you can throw me away".

  • "ColourOfSpring" ... Thank you so very much for posting this extensive collection of Talk Talk music ... I remember Marc's awesomely haunting voice so well from the early '80s ... what incredibly beautiful music Talk Talk produced.

  • damn werent they fuckin brilliant havent heard this album sice i was 20......hollis what a voice not easily beaten....webb & harris the doggs too........

  • This song brings back a lot of memories, I just bought my first walkman, and kept rewinding to hear this song and Candy, two of my favorites.

I truly hope Marc is still singing, what a great voice!

  • what a bass line!!!

  • spot on cloudbuster. simon cowell / x factor / BGT pleeeease take note : this is quality music, written by talnted musicians and not th shit you churn out.

  • totally agree %100

  • they got better with age ,pisses all over todays so called music, fact

  • 'fact'; David Brent?

  • @cloudbuster66

    FACT!!

  • @cloudbuster66 you hit the nail on the head there dude.

  • THE BEST POP EVER

  • great album

    THE BEST

  • It's so hard to sleep at night... classic!

  • Hey askhamm I'm with you, I've been listening to this since it came out. And appelsientje, I'm so glad a young guy (or girl) like you digs it as well, and I think 3.03-3.20 is one of the saddest and happiest things I've ever heard. BlackSkyThunder, you get it as well.

  • genius

  • been listening to this track for 25 years sheer class

  • im 19 and i like this music!!! specialy 3:03-3:20

  • great song , glad i found it , very underrated band clean sound , talk talk personifies the 80's

  • They are genius, this song can only be made by some virtous people..it´s difficult to explain the feeling they put in this song, they reach the top when they say it´s hard to sleep at night. They realize how the world is bad, the only thing you have to do to realize it is when you plan to hear rhe news.

  • great track, just sit n listen magic

  • Brilliant song. Music like this never gets old.

  • This is my fav song, love talk talk

  • This my fav song of theirs too. Why is it so under-recognised?

  • I have no idea, this brings back so many memories

  • Of what?

  • oh so many, used to listen to this lots when i was in the navy and away from the UK

  • Granted. Have you been to the Lammas Fair?

  • I own a remaster of this album on cd and love it.

  • wow, very beautiful song!!

    Talk Talk is great!!

  • Great tune, reminds me of some of Gary Numan's songs, esp at the beginning. Go '80s the best decade for music.

  • This band Rocks! Always has. The music is so unique. Loved this album the best but all of their music is great. Shaka Baby and Mind The Gap

  • always loved the music but always difficult to hear what he's actually saying

  • colour of spring provides the lyrics to all the talk talk tracks, just click on more info.but i know what you mean,i struggled myself on a lot of his vocals.

  • bands just don't make albums like this anymore.where each song has it's own individuality and can change your mood accordingly.truly classic and will never leave my all time top ten. p.s the quality is excellent..cheers

  • TalkTalk in the Party's Over was simply over the top. Perfect beyond ..drumming, PURRFECT Synth, unbelieveable vocals. Great later Jazz music like Thomas dolby, but synth would've taken off even more if the group stayed Pat. I respect Hollis a lot, however , he should've put his ego aside a little bit maybe ? They had the potential of a nuclear weapon without even ever going full commercial.

  • talktalk have never done a bad song,41 and still love their music, never get bored with it,bands come and go,but talk talk are timeless

  • Youre completely right :)

  • I totaly agree with you!I'm 37 and talktalk is my favourite band since i'm 13.And i'm in love with Mark since i'm 13 too(but don't tell it...it's a secret!!!lol)

  • this song got me laid in France with a French beauty many years ago cheers mark,

  • I never saw that coming. I would expect something like *It's Getting Late in the Evening* to do the trick quicker than a sad song such as this.

  • wonderful as only probable from mark hollis a man b4 his time why they werent super stars like duran.spandau wham etc who knows

  • I agree RallyCat909. The synths on the chorus line are absolutely amazing. It just rips inside me.

Talk Talk were an amazing band with a distinctive sound

  • You Tube at its best, Brilliant sound quality, Loads of memories.Top posting.

  • I remember going to buy a 60 minute cassette to record this song over and over so I wouldn't eat the batteries rewinding the tape. The synths on the chorus tear right through me. THIS is the song that made me love TALK TALK.

Ace post, man. You just brought tears to a 38 year old mans eyes.

  • takes me back to when i was 18..a better time in life... great track..ta for posting!!!
