Please please please please remove the pre-recorded stuff from being part of the performances. It really does take away from the overall effect and creativity. If you can't make the sound naturally w/ a horn, drum, or other implement and it needs to be piped in over a loud speaker, I believe it falls outside the bounds of the activity.

@hoolame I completely disagree - I think it adds to the overall effect and creativity. It's true to the original piece - from underneath the vocal solo, enter the demons. I understand where you're coming from by saying that electronic recordings can take away from the drumcorps effect, but I also think that when DCI allowed electronics to be used, this is what they had in mind. Some shows go overboard with it, but this is not one of those shows.

I too have followed DCI for decades, being in my 40's now, anyone who says this is anything less than stellar work doesn't get it. Everything's on target! I'm not a Cadet fan but this earns them the title this year. Totally agree with DCI not removing the videos. It's what gets young kids inspired to join their school band!

@Seamonkey555 I had a similar story, my cousin who is 22 now, showed me the Cadets when my music teacher asked me in 5th grade if I wanted to play an instrument. The Cadets influenced me to play the trumpet, now I'm a first seat Euphonium player in my school band :D

As a Blue Devil supporter I just want to congratulate the Cadets on their championship performance. I was able to see the show at Stanford & Stockton and it was truly breathtaking! Definitely liked it better than BD this year. Hope the Cadets come west again next year. I also wish that DCI would not remove the YouTube videos like they do. DCI needs the exposure. The DCI experience is truly spectacular in person, so if you are impressed by what you see here, you ain't seen nothing yet!!

Angels In The Architecture was my favorite piece of literature before this show and still is, and although they took 1st place in nationals, this rendition of AITA is not what i expected when i heard the cadets were going to take it, whoever edited the music i feel didnt capture the essence and texture of ticheli when they wrote this, it was good dont get me wrong but it just wasnt angels in the architecture, but i loved this show none the less, and they deserve nothing less then 1st! screw BD!

The music this is based off of, Angels in the Architecture, is magnificent! My school's Wind Symphony played it and actually had Frank Ticheli do a session on it with us. I played the timpani part, which was a fantastic part to play! However when we arrived at USC the timpani they had couldn't have been more different than the ones I was used to, as I tried to figure them out Ticheli was very rude to me. Despite writing beautiful music, the man has no patience.
