shadysmurf i tried to do the update with the combo kit from apple and i am now stuck on a grey apple screen with the spiining wheel and it won't load. it also does not recognize any usb devices so i can't use my usb dvd to boot from. any suggestions on how you got out of this problem? thanks!
But i used... Intel GMA 950 kext before and doing the GUI Installer 1024x576, and it worked previouslly on 10.5.5, but now when i reinstalled Intel GMA 950 kext when on 10.5.7 and then run the GUI, it goes to that res but with corrupt display..
because when im already on iDeneb 10.5.7 using iDeneb's combo upgrade kit, all that was working before with iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5, wifi, mouse, keyboard, restart, shutdown, works, but i didnt set the res and it is still 640x480 on 10.5.7, if i reinstall Intel GMA 950 i get a corrupted screen with black apple white lines all over, and i cant use in on normal mode, i have to go -x safe mode to use it again... when i was on 10/5/5 i did changed the GUI installer to 1024x576 abd ut worked but i used...
Ok, so ive managed to figure out that Installing iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 works but the update using apple's official 10.5.7 combo updater dont work coz when you reboot u get stuck at apple looping logo, so then i tried iDeneb 10.5.7 Upgrade Kit and it worked, and you dont even need to reinstall the Ketxts, after reboot, just type voodoo, anv or vanilla to boot up, but i still dont know how to change the res to my native 1024x576 res on my win 7 on hp mini 110-1006TU..anyone help??
Oh yeah, i forgot to add one thing, you need to first go to Dock by clicking system preference, then click the Auto-Hide Dock and exit before you do all what i have said before, because if your screen is too small, you need to hide the dock or make it smaller to click on the barely visible button at the lower left when you open the Clock (Time & Date) windo), and also for clicking the install button on GUI, you need to auto hide dock first before you can click those all.
To verify and login using blank password if you have created none, click Ok, then click Back (the Black Arrow on the top left), then click Accounts, and click the + sign to make another admin account, as you can see if you clicked Accounts first, you will see that the + sign is greyed out, and you can't unlock the padlock at the bottom because of your 10" inch screen w/ 640x480 res, now can anyone PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION? trace back Comments find and search for shadysmurff

Hey, i tried this on my Mini HP 110-1006TU which worked,and i checked the ones you told on your guide, ACPI, CPU, Firewire and ICHX, but i also added these extras, Atheros Wifi Adapter, Intel GMA950, Kext Helper, OSx86Tools, Skype and VLC ....

Ok so I don't even get to the Migration assistant, it just blinks white when it tries to boot then it reboots and does it non-stop. So I typed -s when it rebooted and it started loading like it did in this vid, but it rebooted after that not giving me the chance to type in /sbin/fsck -fy and obviously after trying to do this again it does the same thing, and rebooting then typing /sbin/fsck doesnt do anything, what should I do?. My Mini is a 311 aswell.

If You get a error during the Uinstaller u have to use a flash drive, that happen to me on a dvd that i burned so i tryed with my 8gb Flash Drive and worked perfect!

@johnbarberr Holy cow. This has been very helpful! For one, My Mini doesn't say "File System Modified", it says "Appears to be OK", like yours. Secondly, I thought the thing froze when I "passwd root" on the prompt, the typed password just doesn't appear on the screen! I didn't know that.
Hey man, I have a question. Will there be any way to copy the installation disk into a memory from Windows? What happens is that I tried to copy the iDeneb disk from Disk Utility on a Hackintosh, but I scored an error saying that there were insufficient resources of my laptop. The copying process is only possible from an Apple computer or I can also do this process from a Hackintosh?
Mine wouldn't boot after the kexts install, only once it did... some kind of random error... i have 110-1015la upgraded HD to 150gb... i removed the Solid state 16gb that came with it, could it be the error?

I had my osx working perfectly, then when i went to upgrade it to 10.5.8 (which i probably shouldnt have) the resolution was wrong. So I reinstalled the Kexts not choosing the first 2 but nothing happened. Then I tried it with the first 2 kexts and now i'm stuck with a gray screen with multiple apple logos with a bunch of horizontal lines throughout the logos. How do I downgrade back to 10.5.5?

Well I've installed OSX and my computer restarts as it's suppose to, I waited for the countdown and instead of greeting me with the migration assistant it tells me to restart the computer. I hold down the power button but it don't restart, it just turns off and I get the same message when it comes back on.
I also tried the -s thing and I get different text when it stops. I also can't type in anymore, even if I do type commands nothing happens when I press enter
@jmoy88 nothing is going to happen when you press enter sometimes. make sure you go through and do the command lines EXACTLY like they are in the video, and read the walkthrough if u have a hard time time reading the commands. even if you dont think it's typing, it is. if you misspell anything it wont work.
@johnbarberr Hey John, so I restarted from step one of your video and it all worked out perfectly! I have a HP mini 110. I didn't even have to any commands. I thought I read somewhere that the video out won't work, but it does!!! Everything works even the camera! The only thing that I noticed was the battery icon don't appear, but the "time" & "percentage" do. No biggie. Thanks again for the useful video!

I also wanted to add that the sound works, but the problem is, its too "Ridiculously" Low, compared to my windows 7 Ultimate on my HP Mini 110-1006TU series, any idea why?? i cant barely even hear anything just a bit of volume that i need to bring my ear closer to my hp mini laptop to hear something, i need to plug it into my speaker, and on top of that with speaker, i can hear a bit but the volume is not normal level at all.
@AyoooQuoia you have to do the loop fix which is in the video. its the part where u have to type in all the command lines. thats the only way around it.
@johnbarberr Thanks for the quick response. I've done the loop fixes but still goes to the migration assistant. Right now I'm reinstalling iDeneb. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not.
@AyoooQuoia it does not show up as typing to keep your password secure. its on purpose. you wont see a cursor but it is typing i promise. just type the same password twice hitting enter after each time

@djnicksilva just go ahead and delete appleHDA by putting it in the trash. you should probably go ahead and put voodooHDA in the trash just for good measure. reboot. the install only the voodooHDA and reboot again. that should fix it.

Hey, on the reboot after the kexts are installed, it says that it's installed successfully, then click ok to reboot and see the results. I click ok, then freeze! I turn off the machine... then it has problems, i then need to reinstall windows and start all over... wot is that about? Should I install the kexts then do a manual restart? should I install kexts individually? please help!
make sure you deselect the kexts outlined in the guide. If you can boot into root, go into your kexts delete the one's you've installed, then reinstal them. If its completely frozen and wont reboot, you're going to have to start over. Make sure you use the correct 10.5.6 update, otherwise you wont be able to boot.
sounds like you may have installed the wrong update. make sure it's 10.5.6 or else you wont be able to boot. and also make sure you use the latest chameleon boot loader. you'll most likely have to start over with the install.
I followed this video exactly and used the files provided - It didn't freeze at all, allowed me to set up the admin etc in iDeneb, so was as simple as plugging the USB in and letting it run. Thanks!
Hi there, I'm trying to do this on a 2133 HP. I've tried both ideneb v1.6 10.5.8 Lite and ideneb v1.4 10.5.6 and on both at the 1st Apple logo screen during installation it just hangs. Any ideas please?
Unless you have data already on the computer no. It just erases Windows XP and installs OSX. You can install windows XP back on later if you are ambitous enough.

i guess the guides meant for semi-intelligent people then. the video is meant as a supplement to the written guide. If you run into trouble or don't understand something on the written guide the video helps to show you. it's not something you just watch and know how to do it. you have to do it step by step. i personally couldn't redo it without watching my own video again. good luck with win7.
I want to install Windows XP for one program i need. I will install it through VirtualBox , but when i start the installation - it get fucked.. Can i install Windows XP through VirtualBox??
not ready yet. sleep does not work and there are other issues to resolve. Just be happy with 10.5.7. Snow leopard mainly improves 64 bit processors not 32bit in the mini.
locate all the kexts associated with GMA9500 and delete out of your kext folder (they're put in the trashcan) apply update, then reinstall all kexts using out of the trashcan after update.
say if you wanted to go back to xp i would just have to boot from an xp disk right? also does the hp mini run osx well enough where you would keep it on there?

the tutorial and the software are awesome. my question is this: i am installing on an HP Mini 110 - with a 10-inch screen. when i get to the step at 2:50, the buttons (back and Continue) are not visible onscreen due to the way the installer handles the different aspect ratio. is there a keystroke command that will substitute for clicking on "Continue" in that dialog?

I was wondering - what if you leave the system on there and install the mac osx on a flash drive and running it from tthere, basically to have both systems on the machine - is that possible? or those it have to be install on the internal drive only?
it is possible. you will just have to change the boot device from the bios at startup. after you're done installing, chameleon should be able to recognize that there are two operating systems, so from then on you can boot from chameleon. the first time you will need to do the whole "f10" deal at startup and change the boot device to your usb drive. just make sure when you are going through the installer that you select the correct drive to install osx on.
Hello, I installed this on my Mini before and worked great! I however got a larger HD and have a question. It installs no problem... Then when I restart it does not go to the migration assistant but will say "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"... I reboot and select the proper HD and reboot.... It then goes to the same screen in a loop. Any idea on a quick fix? I also re-installed the os to make sure and it does the same thing. Thanks!
Thats a no brainer... this is related to the HD not being recognized at boot up after installing a new HD and re-installing OS X onto it. No big deal, I sold that computer anyway :)
I am trying to use an 8gb flash drive as you said on your websites requirements and that damn grey button is still greyed out in the ENGLISH_GUI thing. It says that the drive D is not a hard disk something...you said to get the USB Flash drive 8 gb and i just spent $50 on one...what am I doing wrong????

@johnbarberr Holy cow. This has been very helpful! For one, My Mini doesn't say "File System Modified", it says "Appears to be OK", like yours. Secondly, I thought the thing froze when I "passwd root" on the prompt, the typed password just doesn't appear on the screen! I didn't know that.

Hey man, I have a question. Will there be any way to copy the installation disk into a memory from Windows? What happens is that I tried to copy the iDeneb disk from Disk Utility on a Hackintosh, but I scored an error saying that there were insufficient resources of my laptop. The copying process is only possible from an Apple computer or I can also do this process from a Hackintosh?

I had my osx working perfectly, then when i went to upgrade it to 10.5.8 (which i probably shouldnt have) the resolution was wrong. So I reinstalled the Kexts not choosing the first 2 but nothing happened. Then I tried it with the first 2 kexts and now i'm stuck with a gray screen with multiple apple logos with a bunch of horizontal lines throughout the logos. How do I downgrade back to 10.5.5?

It skips the migrations assistant for me and logs me straight in as admin so i didnt have to do the command thing, but i still did and it still loggs me in as Administrator. Please help tyy

Hey John,
Well I've installed OSX and my computer restarts as it's suppose to, I waited for the countdown and instead of greeting me with the migration assistant it tells me to restart the computer. I hold down the power button but it don't restart, it just turns off and I get the same message when it comes back on.
I also tried the -s thing and I get different text when it stops. I also can't type in anymore, even if I do type commands nothing happens when I press enter
What can I do? Thanks

@jmoy88 nothing is going to happen when you press enter sometimes. make sure you go through and do the command lines EXACTLY like they are in the video, and read the walkthrough if u have a hard time time reading the commands. even if you dont think it's typing, it is. if you misspell anything it wont work.

@johnbarberr Hey John, so I restarted from step one of your video and it all worked out perfectly! I have a HP mini 110. I didn't even have to any commands. I thought I read somewhere that the video out won't work, but it does!!! Everything works even the camera! The only thing that I noticed was the battery icon don't appear, but the "time" & "percentage" do. No biggie. Thanks again for the useful video!

I also wanted to add that the sound works, but the problem is, its too "Ridiculously" Low, compared to my windows 7 Ultimate on my HP Mini 110-1006TU series, any idea why?? i cant barely even hear anything just a bit of volume that i need to bring my ear closer to my hp mini laptop to hear something, i need to plug it into my speaker, and on top of that with speaker, i can hear a bit but the volume is not normal level at all.

@AyoooQuoia you have to do the loop fix which is in the video. its the part where u have to type in all the command lines. thats the only way around it.

@AyoooQuoia no. the processor cant handle it. iDeneb does not include iMovie on purpose. It's too big and your computer cant run it.

@AyoooQuoia it does not show up as typing to keep your password secure. its on purpose. you wont see a cursor but it is typing i promise. just type the same password twice hitting enter after each time

I looked in the extensions folder and I have both the AppleHDA and VoodooHDA in there, I should only need voodoo feom wot other message boards are saying. Wot should I do? How do I properly delete out one kext and install the other using the OSx86 tool?

@djnicksilva just go ahead and delete appleHDA by putting it in the trash. you should probably go ahead and put voodooHDA in the trash just for good measure. reboot. the install only the voodooHDA and reboot again. that should fix it.

Hey, on the reboot after the kexts are installed, it says that it's installed successfully, then click ok to reboot and see the results. I click ok, then freeze! I turn off the machine... then it has problems, i then need to reinstall windows and start all over... wot is that about? Should I install the kexts then do a manual restart? should I install kexts individually? please help!

make sure you deselect the kexts outlined in the guide. If you can boot into root, go into your kexts delete the one's you've installed, then reinstal them. If its completely frozen and wont reboot, you're going to have to start over. Make sure you use the correct 10.5.6 update, otherwise you wont be able to boot.

sounds like you may have installed the wrong update. make sure it's 10.5.6 or else you wont be able to boot. and also make sure you use the latest chameleon boot loader. you'll most likely have to start over with the install.

I followed this video exactly and used the files provided - It didn't freeze at all, allowed me to set up the admin etc in iDeneb, so was as simple as plugging the USB in and letting it run. Thanks!

Unless you have data already on the computer no. It just erases Windows XP and installs OSX. You can install windows XP back on later if you are ambitous enough.

I have the older model screen which is 10.2". The newer HP Mini's are 10.1". Depends on your model. Just use tab if you cant see a button.

i guess the guides meant for semi-intelligent people then. the video is meant as a supplement to the written guide. If you run into trouble or don't understand something on the written guide the video helps to show you. it's not something you just watch and know how to do it. you have to do it step by step. i personally couldn't redo it without watching my own video again. good luck with win7.

not ready yet. sleep does not work and there are other issues to resolve. Just be happy with 10.5.7. Snow leopard mainly improves 64 bit processors not 32bit in the mini.

locate all the kexts associated with GMA9500 and delete out of your kext folder (they're put in the trashcan) apply update, then reinstall all kexts using out of the trashcan after update.

the tutorial and the software are awesome. my question is this: i am installing on an HP Mini 110 - with a 10-inch screen. when i get to the step at 2:50, the buttons (back and Continue) are not visible onscreen due to the way the installer handles the different aspect ratio. is there a keystroke command that will substitute for clicking on "Continue" in that dialog?

When i try to update to 10.5.7 and have installed all kext again. After reboot i get a screen with alots of Apple logo. I can login (because i know where my login-name is) but i cant see anything. I was wondering - what if you leave the system on there and install the mac osx on a flash drive and running it from tthere, basically to have both systems on the machine - is that possible? or those it have to be install on the internal drive only?

it is possible. you will just have to change the boot device from the bios at startup. after you're done installing, chameleon should be able to recognize that there are two operating systems, so from then on you can boot from chameleon. the first time you will need to do the whole "f10" deal at startup and change the boot device to your usb drive. just make sure when you are going through the installer that you select the correct drive to install osx on.

Hello, I installed this on my Mini before and worked great! I however got a larger HD and have a question. It installs no problem... Then when I restart it does not go to the migration assistant but will say "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"... I reboot and select the proper HD and reboot.... It then goes to the same screen in a loop. Any idea on a quick fix? I also re-installed the os to make sure and it does the same thing. Thanks!

Thats a no brainer... this is related to the HD not being recognized at boot up after installing a new HD and re-installing OS X onto it. No big deal, I sold that computer anyway :)

I am trying to use an 8gb flash drive as you said on your websites requirements and that damn grey button is still greyed out in the ENGLISH_GUI thing. It says that the drive D is not a hard disk something...you said to get the USB Flash drive 8 gb and i just spent $50 on one...what am I doing wrong????

Great guide. I received my mini yesterday, had downloaded the essentials and ideneb 1.3 via utorrent before, and had everything working in 4 hours, with all my apps installed and updated with an additional 2 hours. Again, thanks for this great guide, I'm excited to stay a machead with a netbook.
