That would be correct that Ms. Linda Hargrove wrote this song, and many, many other top hits of this era. She is a friend from the NF Panhandle, but now lives in NE Louisiana.

Really glad to see that several people are giving her credit for this song as so many do not... like the ones over on "Tennessee Whiskey".

I met Linda Hargrove in 2003 in Nashville at Erv Woosley's TRAP where Johnny was performing. She wrote several songs for him and told me that he always did good by her songs! It was an honor to meet her. She now lives in Florida and is into Gospel Music.

I've got a bunch of 45's of this song but I wanted to visit YouTube and see if it had been added. Nice to see it's been uploaded. :) Country music of today is SO noisy it's refreshing to hear a good song that you don't have to turn the volume down to listen to. My 45' says this song was written by "L. Hargrove" who I believe to be Linda Hargrove so it's cool that a lady wrote this tune. -CG
