  • Wow, how sad these films won, and Mirror Mirror didn't, just proves more how dumb america is these days, How can people vote for these fims, the fact that the acting was poor, bad directing, and fairly bad quality, and most of all, the scripts and acting are not even original, all scripts and acting are pretty much stolen from most movies, none of these films are even original, and i have to say Mirror Mirror deserves the best. ppl who refused to vote for Mirror Mirrior are just religious idiots

  • very good and clear

  • Thanks for sharing this with us.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • these were the best???????? i hate have watched the worst. slim pickings i suppose.

  • can u guys please watch ma vids and subscribe and rate and stuff like that pleaseee =] i will to urs! please

  • This video fucing blows....1 Star...

  • Poo poo pee pee smile smile.

  • so far it seems like youtube pretty much hates everything put into those little advertising slots lately

  • why is that so clear, it's wasn't even uploaded in HD

  • these movies look low budget..and i never heard of them before O_o i'm surprised sundance had anything to do with this, they usually pick good movies.

  • shit sucks

  • Interesting choice. I would have gone with the telephone episode as well but best of luck to the winners!

  • All of them were bad. Who the heck voted for this? I liked the one with the girl and guy and the telephone submission...why didnt it win?

  • These voting things always suck because voting can be hacked. Tila Tequila used software to get 1 Million friends on myspace. There are lots of ads on craigslist that can raise your YouTube views to a millions. I know some famous people that hired them to cook the numbers.

  • @grandgret

yup, you sure proved it right, voting can be hacked, how dumb america is? they are underestimating hackers around the world.

  • omg! when we first saw this on the main page,

we thought this looked EXACTLY like alex from

    theflavoroffour

  • this sux

  • ...........huh?

  • runner up was better. FUCK THIS

  • 5 STAR woot woot keep it up guys x]

  • crap at its finest

  • wow, the runner up was better.

  • What the hell is this?

  • isnt 1 star to much?

  • Half a star seems reasonable

  • cool video

  • It doesn't even deserve one star lol

  • 1 star FTW!

  • 1 star!!!!!!

  • Why does this have such bad ratings???

    That's really stupid...

  • why does everyone hate this? it's just letting everyone know that project:direct is over...?

  • everyone should flag and rate 1 star for this video.

  • thanks for fucking ruining my Saturday morning youtube hahahaha

  • EVERYONE RATE THIS ONE STAR AND FLAG IT

  • what the fuck is this?

  • read comment below \/

  • shit...simply shit.

  • Dear Youtube,

Please stop posting crappy advertisements and even crappier "zomfg youtube contests", they just plain suck. Especially the youtube contests, do you honestly think we're all a bunch of happy sapfest youtube fanboys? That youtube symphony orchestra's going to go nowhere.

From, one of the millions who wished youtube never sold out..

  • the craziest youtube channel is

    PugVegas

  • Woot Greg Patillo & Project.

  • Youtube, please quit featuring crappy vids.

  • This isn't featured, it's sponsored. They pay to put it on the front page.

  • Looks like they're wasting thier money sponsoring this then >.>

  • perfecto is the shiz. cool story. great acting. the director is the freakin man.

  • why does this have a two start rating? i don't get what people found objectionable.

    someone explain?

  • Videos that are posted on YouTube's homepage are usually advertisements, and therefore thumbed down.

  • It's boring, that's why.

  • o.o

  • I think the winner was well written. Some small tech issues but great story.

Our film "Black Friday" was featured on YouTube Canada for awhile. We weren't finalists this year, but I think we made a film that stands out from the rest of the project direct submissions. Maybe not perfect for this contest, but it will find a home somewhere.

Check it out, let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

  • so what are they gonna do with this films?

  • where in the world was "A PERFECT FAMILY?" that film had a message...prop 8 in calif. I thought sundance was serious....not camping. But sundance has become quite cheesey, and not something i choose to put my work toward again. Shame on you.

  • I love how some people continue to hide behind there user name. Playing off the idea that he/she is a bigtime producer.. maybe they are. But why on earth would a "bigtime producer" come on YouTube and have any interest in a small film initiative like this?

  • Perfecto and the Phone next door where the most complete shorts in competition with solid acting, camera work and pacing. Glad one of those two won.

  • oh i didn't like this winning movie <_<

i loved the runners ups though

  • White collar criminals was stupid

it just played off the stereotype that all criminals have to be black.

  • cool...

  • Film35mm, you arrogant dude. You sound like a bitter college professor. You have no way of knowing which films got permits/insurance or whatever your'e supposed to have in 2009. Who hurt you, film, who hurt you. Leave the starry eyed noobs to enjoy a contest that they can feel confident entering.

  • Congratulations to hbedward and ¡PERFECTO! Best of luck at the Sundance Film Festival from the American Film Institute.

  • Thank you very much on behalf of all of us! Wow! What an honor!

  • what the hell!! where is waste management.

  • lol exactly what i was thinking!

  • yes, i noticed that.

  • The winner should've been 'Waste Management'

  • I agree. Waste managemaent was by far the best in films 3 main categories. They got fucked.

  • i really thought mirror mirror on the wall was very brilliant and nicely done

i'm dissapointed that it didn't make top 3

    ):

  • What's the beef here? Am i to believe some films were left out for strange technicalities?

  • every one sub me

  • :)))))))))

  • I want to see what white collar criminals is about

  • because the incompetent 13 year olds just rate it 1 star.

  • haha i love how anything youtube puts on the homepage gets so poorly rated. wow you fail at yourself youtube

  • Why does it seems all of the premiere youtube videos on the front page get at most 3 stars.

  • AND THE WINNER IS...A PIECE OF SHIT!

  • This looks like one of those movies that I'm not a good enough human being to watch.

  • When in the hell did this happen? I would've taken the competition by storm. Not really but I wanted to participate.

  • my short "Lethal Justice" was banned from competition for being too "Anti-American" and too "Pro-Abortion"

  • wow, you guys are all such sad sore losers, you can't just let someone enjoy their winnings! obviously youtube viewers voted and this was the outcome.....it's not the end of the world!

  • you mean to tell me youtube voted for the least original video?

  • Cough waste of life cough 1 star cough.

  • Aye, does your mamma still got uh... worms crawlin out her pussy?

  • horrible

  • gah y the heck did that one win!?!? that was dumb..there were way better films than that! that girl was so annoying.

  • wtf youtube, what shit are you promoting!

  • shitty fucking video.

  • who gives a fuck

  • ha

    brilliance

  • retarded

  • stupid

  • garbage

  • wow..waste management was much better than these

  • wtf is this sbout

  • this guy is bitching about permits because his film didnt win!! lol.. its actually really funny.

He has totally down played the professionalism of many project direct shorts without knowing anything about them. Union status, permits, he knows nothing about the winning film or the rest of the pd films and yet continues preaching.

  • i didn't enter a film. i didn't down play any of the professionalism, just the ones that are not professional, nor were they done so in any such manner. not preaching, just stating what is, seems you prefer to cannonball your way through making films, seen it before, always leads to trouble, and someone getting injured by the lack of professional conduct. sorry, you fail....

  • you seem to have a lot of negative things to say for somebody who didn't even try. I guess, your the one who really failed. Sorry

  • Phone Next Door or Monday Morning should have been up there!!!! Both were so elegant!

  • Incredible! They STILL haven't fixed the links.

  • Waste Management should have won!!

  • it becomes a crime when someone is injured or killed, and it has happened. even anyone who ventures into filmmaking better learn real quick the what and not what to do's... even at this level....

  • OK, but how does the permit prevent injury or death?

  • Well deserved. Though I think Phone Next Door should've at least ran up. Super job though, all the contestants. Shorts should not be ignored.

  • awesome i voted for this one to win!

  • Phone Next Door was my vote too, but I think it fell victim to "I don't like reading subtitles" syndrome. It was fun watching all ten of the finalists. Now I'm going track down other entries. Congrats to the winners and thanks to the organizers. The spirit of independent creative endeavors needs continued support.

  • Thanks, Project: Direct and sponsors, for the chance to enter "Don't Change a Thing", and congratulations to the winners.

  • Yea I finally won something on YouTube!!! Thanks

    Jimmy Dean Carlson

  • girls are bitches

    we call them witches

cuz they take away our riches

and keep us all in stitches

    (check out PugVegas youtube channel)

  • How 'bout a little more than a month notice next time, dickheads?!?!

  • dude this has been up for quite awhile more than a month about this competition....probably didnt notice the ad its all good

  • "dude this has been up for quite awhile more than a month about this competition....probably didnt notice the ad its all good"

No. The announcement was posted one month before the deadline.

  • cool nice

    M.V.B Films

  • Congrats! -I wish I had entered tho=p -next time xD

  • Surely this competition is about finding talent from people who don't necessarily have experience within the film industry. I would lay odds that the majority of professional film makers started out experimenting with film or video, sometimes in public locations and without permits. In my opinion, it's hardly the crime of the century.

  • Welcome to 2009 buddy. Its called the digital revolution and filmmaking will never be the same. We see it in shorts and big budget features. The studio system is crashing. Low budget features and winning academy awards. How do you know they didnt have a permit? How do you know I didnt have permits in my film? YOu have no idea. Ask robert rodriguez how many permits he had for his first few films..

  • I really don't know why everyone is picking on you. You made valid points. My problem with this contest wasn't the selection of this film as the winner. Good for them. I'm not a bitter somebody thinking my film was better than the rest. I know where we could have improved a TON.

However, rules are meant to be in place, as I understood them, to be followed. Allowing a movie into the top ten that was over the 5 minute time limit completely ruins the spirit and competition aspects of this.

  • rules? the rules for this "contest" or rather film festival online, which it really is, are way too simple. making a film/video is far more complex than pointing a camera, it seems everyone forgot about permits, release forms, insurance, safety, the list can go on. all they saw was flashing lights of hollywood..

5 minutes is 5 minutes, yet they broke there own rules by allowing over 5 minutes in the top 10.... guerrilla filmmaking is best left in the 60's as I was reminded today, this is 2009

  • YouTube isnt the place for this type of instructional relaying... most of us can't even read.

  • LOL...I suppose clarity wasn't as underlying as I was meant to believe...

I guess it was truly too hard to read ALL of those rules. Hell, guess we didn't have to follow some of them anyway...

    :)

  • Aye. I actually did get release forms for all those in my 5 minute picture. Those not family members, that is (still a majority). It was our first time out, but at least we had the sense to protect ourselves and those in our film.

We also received approval for our two locations we used, and even had an outside agency (YouTube user Paradigma) supply us with music. We may not have done everything by the book, but that was our aim.

I'm not angry over this. Just chalk it up to experience.

  • hahahah. you are a little *BEEP*. I would have written that out, but didn't have the permit for cursing in a public forum. People could have been hurt in the writing of this comment... better safe than sorry. Oh,speaking of sorry... where is your film? I would love to see it...as well as copies of all the permits...

  • yes I know. you have seen my films, you just don't realize it. and you paid money to see them.

  • where can i watch this movie fully?

cause i tried clicking on links but my pc couldnt find the server.

and i just know what kind of movie this is, it seems all happy smiley then BAM a twist lol

    j/k

  • they wrote the links wrong, they added the period after the link so that's why you got the 404. If you click on the links again and delete the period, it should be fine.

  • es horriblle feo es una mierda

  • Is that Latin?

  • thats actually spanish

  • All the cast and crew of "Called Feet" want to express all the best to the winner and the finalists and want to thank everybody who watched supported our project. We had and amazing response! It was great to be part of it!

  • All the cast and crew of "Called Feet" want to express all the best to the winner and the finalists and want to thank everybody who watched and wants to thank everybody for watching and supporting our project, we had and amazing response! It was amazing to be part of it!

  • Does anyone else think it is incredibly poor taste to say things like..."did they even look at mine?" Wow..how trite and concieted, no matter how good your project was, or how bad you think the winner may be...and no I did not enter...I just find the whiney prattle amazing.

  • congrats to everyone who entered, making one of these in the middle of december is no easy task!

  • I'm really surprised that the Phone Next Door didn't get anything. It was brilliant and beautifully done.

But congrats to the winners! They were all very well made.

  • perfecto! congratulations to the winners, i really loved your short film.

  • congratulations to the winner

  • I'm surprised with the results too.

The Phone Next Door was soo great!

  • i agree!! i liked that one alot

  • Congratulations to the winner. Thanks to Project Direct and YouTube for giving us all the opportunity to submit. Can't wait until next year!!

  • iam gonna win this next year

  • well congratulations to the winner. I'm surprised of the results but oh well.

Hope to see if the contest runs next year, and hopefully next year, I will think of something to put in as an entry. Likely hood of getting far at all. Slim but you never know.

  • hope I can enter in one day ...

  • wow the winning video showed a ford pick up truck in a scene, isnt that against the rules regarding logos???

  • the truck isn't exactly a logo and you wouldn't have known that lest you knew it by make and body type. The logo is never seen, unless if you call a blurry smudge that looks sort-of-like-an-oval-at-fifty-feet the guilty logo.
