  • A disgrace to the Pitt Special, underpowered sounds like it has a cold....you should have fixed it b4 taking it back up

  • Where can I get info on the belt drve set-up, great sound, super pland. thanks

  • you have a lot of rc stuff

  • NICE AIRPORT!

  • this plane survive because build from kit RTF will disintegrated in 5 pieces in corn crush!

  • Why would you fly something with bits falling off it?

  • I think its time you return the P-80 Shooting Star!

  • Thank goodness it went down in the corn field instead of concrete. It probably would have been damaged.

  • that plane is just so quiet and he basically just floated it into the cornfield soft landing

  • i love how it looks so heavy but just floats off the ground in the begining =p

  • AHA!!!! love how they just go tramping through some random cornfield.....i wanna play hide and seek there.....

  • how long does a tank of gas last you

  • Wich is better gas power or electric.

  • @twistedyogert He would not have deadsticked with an electric. This plane would thrive on an electric motor. Thanks to lypos and brushless, the old argument about gas vs electric has resolved to a matter of taste, not performance.

  • thank you for bringing that treasure back in one peace

  • I guess if you're gonna land in a field, a corn field is the one to do it in.

  • An absolutely beautiful plane!

  • That is a nice plane

  • awesome sound from the engine, nice scale speed, i hope its still flying?

  • nice plane, wery scale spped, awesome sound, i hope its stil flying?

  • beautifull aircraft very nice work great detail great b=job

  • (i think thats the start of his nickname "cactus jack" lol). the first time i picked up a TX since was 3 months ago.. F-22 raptor v3 from bannana hobby- (i dont suggest starting out with a jet.... but i did, and she still flies) so, i want a bipe, i have been looking at an ultimate, and a pitts-- 1)have you flown and ultimate before, and 2) do you think the pitts is docile enough for a person who has issues with awesome landings, lol.

  • wow, night flyer! I really like watching you fly! how fast was it going on the first takeoff? it looks like it is going 2 mph!!! it looks like one heck of a floater.. I am considered a beginner, I started flying when I was 12 for one summer and i put 2 of my grandpa's planes in to the same saguaro cactus!

  • At 4:26 your camera man farts before he leaves the corn fields haha

  • What engine is in it? Sounds like a 2 cylinder...

  • how much does it worth now?

  • it flies very much like a warbird

  • lucky that it didnt get destroyed

  • Comment removed

  • Wait this vid ends on 911?

  • that's one of the most gorgeous sounds i had the opportunity to hear on a rc

  • Glad one of them "Old" ball players that hang out in corn fields didn't steal it :) Na , there classy guys . Sweet flying Bi-plane . love that sound

  • can you buy such thing online???

  • I think it flew better after it crashed in the cornfield heheh. GR8 stuff

  • its times like this when you wish you had and fpv plane in your boot to guide em in to the crash site from the air in real time, very nice plane by the way, and you right that motor has a very distinct sound, sounds a lot better than most nitro's, sounds like its a cross between a nitro and a leccy as it sounds like both to me

  • I did this with a micro p-51.... in the middle of a 3 foot grass feild. took about 2 hours to find it, unharmed. then I flew it over the same feild again. this time NOT going until it falls into high grass.

  • Thats a well placed lamp post there for hitting on take off.

  • my friend had one of those and then he had a head on collision with a r/c jet

  • this was awesome --- glad it didn't break in the corn !!! That was pretty to watch --- perfect blue skies and cotton ball clouds ---- the sun glinting off the wings ----- I though I was watching a colorized WW1 movie. Beautiful plane!!!!!

  • what was the best flight time you had despite the small tank?

  • Fell like a rock once the engine was out, lol.

What a beauty, glad it's okay.

  • Drinking and flying.

  • dude! this is the most awesome plain i have ewer seen! :)

  • I like this plane... it looks very difficult to fly. You should create a profile on RC Pilots Online.

  • just bought that plane and now it's coming. :D nice plane and nice tricks!

  • crazy flying for 30 yrs old.

  • That thing is a piece of junk... You may need to make sure all the parts on it are secure before flying it. I see the wheelwell moving all over the place before takeoff.

  • Good save on the corn field landing. Glided 'er in best you could nice and soft. Probably should have taken care on that wheel pant before next flight but still landed OK. She's a beauty, that Rossi sounds good too.

  • sounds like a vacum love it

  • god that lookes dosile till u put ur finger down! also ur dangerous! u shudnt fly into ur self and over you head n them loops nealy hit the ground on the way back round !

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • what plane is this with what motor??? I've never seen a pitts that could take off and fly this slowly.

  • Byron Originals 1/3 scale Pitts...... vintage Rossi .61 (pattern engine)...on a "Byrondrive"....3/1 drive pulley system.....kicking a 20" prop.

    Pretty cool ha?....no longer around

  • 30 years old man my new bought christen eagle 2 doesent have this preformance

good plane and i have the same problem the plane always goes left on take off so man its hard to do a take off becuase i am new at this

  • @ajetin... remeber hold slight right rudder

on take off.....don't throw full throtle at once

SLOW feed!.......torque will definately want to pull this bird to the left........let it roll out

until the tail wants to fly....then ease back on the elev.

  • lol you filmed your screensaver for credits LOL

is night flyyer really a trademark??

  • Nice video. The title seemed misleading, but in the end, the video made up for it. Thanks for a good 9 minutes!

  • Sorry for not paying more attention to the ending of your video because if I had I would have read about it during the credits at the end. Thanks again for a very entertaining video.

  • You have a beautiful Pitts there and I enjoyed your video. Also,,you made a good landing. You say this plane is 30+ years old,,I must say she doesn't look a day over 18. It's nice to be yound and sexy. What brand and size engine are you using in it? The engine has a different sound to it and is very unique. Thanks for the entertainment.

  • left wheel pant looked loose! is this the same pitts u sometimes metion in ur other reviews!?!

  • thats why the price of corn went up!

  • Nice Flying 10/10 still in great condition after 30 years perfect landing in the corn field & the road, the motor sounds different from what I here is it a four stroke & what brand? I have a ASM Pitts Special that needs alot of work with strengthening but it fly's nice.

Once again great looking Pitts Special

    Cheers

    Stan230

  • cool thanks

  • The wheel pants were loose, which bound up the wheel (left one) casued the plane to want to tip over on it's nose when taxing.

  • Another great flight Dave !!

  • Just one more thing regarding jman **** as any intellectual person would tell you, by the way you use fowl language says a lot about your capacity to communicate like normal decent people only low educated freaks use such language as they are not able to create proper sentences. I suggest you go back to school and learn some manners fool.

  • Anyone can say that they have done things in life like you claim...but if you can prove your statements that is something different. This man here knows what he is doing, as he REALLY HAS been in the RC business for a long time. Ask anyone in it that knows something and they know of him. As for manners, you sure have some yourself! I cant stand stupidity, that is why I responded the way I did. I need not go back to school, as I am not the issue here. Have a great fucking day.

  • Hi all, this comment is solely aimed at pea brain jman 5 something !! Look I have been in the rc business for some 35 years and have succeeded in winning major competitions in the UK & Europe with my scale rc aircraft. This so called vintage bipes not flown very well and sounds like a bad hedge clippers engine lol

  • have you ever owned a brushless jet? i wanna buy one and you know a heck of a lot of stuff about it. should i get a beginners f-15 as my 4th remote control aircraft?

  • hello everybody!

  • hi!

  • lol :P

  • If I saw you in my field I would have taken pot shots at you with my shotgun :)

  • Espectacular Pitts, deseo algún día tener uno igual para decorarlo como los que usaba la escuadrilla acrobatica los Halcones de la Fuerza Aerea de Chile.

  • @Nubenegra381 ???

  • they should put smoke cans on the back of it

  • Wow that Italian Rossi engine is awesome. Definately one of the coolest things I have seen in RC. And it is a 61 pulling a 20 some pound plane. Very cool plane!

  • omg that sux man it wouldve34 been bad if u stepped on it nife job finding it tho

  • I've checked all the wiring, connections and voltage and tried re binding the TX to the RX several times but it has not changed how my system initiates :(

As long as the system performs OK should I just not worry about it ?

  • You do realize that he has made several things in modern RC possible due to his genius and undying love for the hobby, right? Do some fucking research before saying stupid stuff like that, big guy.

  • Hi jerkman5630 I hope you have read my latest comments as their aimed at you sucker !!!!!

  • Thats a super plane and a great search and rescue operation. I'm glad to see there was no damage and was able to keep flying. I have the DX6i 6200, 401 Futaba Giro and every other initiation ether the Gyro stays lit solid or the Rx stay lit solid but not both but both work flawlessly on my Align T-Rex 450 SE V2.

On the first 50 or so initiations they would both stay lit but now one is always flashing. Most of the time the motor beeps are barley audible. Do you have any advise ?

  • Awesome plane!

  • sweet plane!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Was Cadnok Wilcoxin aboard this when it went down?

  • Haha. The missing guy who jumped? Was that him??

  • @jetcrusr

    no it was RFK Jr.

  • VINTAGE BIPE goes down in CORN FIELD. Rescue team finds it.

  • thats one nice and tuf plane nice flying

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Hi Dave, Just want to know what controller were you using to Fly your pitts. Anyway I love your plane hope I could make one soon!

  • Thanks. I am using my Spektrum DX6i and the single RX. See my Pitts resurrection video for more.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Why not strap some kind of camera to your blade 400 then use it to track where it went down!

  • LOL. That would take a while, but would work.

  • but you could have fun doing it as well!

  • it actually sounds just like a pitts which is stationed near my house, sometimes does aerobatics over our house

  • nice job Dave, and yep, been there too. I gently had to put down my Formosa (lightweight foam plane about 500 gr) into the corn field once, no damage but took a while to locate it myself, no rescue team ! LOL

  • Thanks kindly. Nice to hear From someone who can relate. LOL.

  • cool!

  • Thanks.,

  • Oh yeah! I have seen my share of the real McCoy. When I was a kid I used to see the "Red Devils" at Oshkosh every year from the age of 6 (1976) until they went over to the Christian Eagle. They flew these for years. Very cool. More realistic flight that some others.

  • Nice Landing !!!!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • what is the weight of it?

  • It's about 22 lbs.

  • Beautiful bird

    exelent flying

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate that.

  • beautiful plane, loved the sound, gave me goose bumps

  • Thanks very much.

  • Our club fiels was connected to a cornfield, thus, our club name "Cornfield R/C Club". I had a Byron Pitts way back then. I ran a Supertigre 3000 in it. My brother-in-law still has it. I think I may have to get it back.

  • WOW. Great. That ST 3000 is a great engine..

I'd get ti back and make a video.

  • I wouldn't dare too fly in this wind

It seems to be very windy.

The back of the aircraft lift up when taking off.

  • Yeah, If we dont fly in the wind, we dont get to fly. THe tail lifted because the wheels were low and rubbing the wheel pants, as the wind was coming from the nose, not the tail.

  • It was it own spirit who saved the plane, you are awesome.

  • Thank you kindly.

  • Beautiful !

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Well, that certainly teaches ME a lesson. I'm planting corn this spring! Where, you ask? EVERYWHERE!

Just call me Johnny Corn Seed!

(Glad your bipe survived another day!)

  • Hahaha. That is funny. Thanks.

  • gosh i love this plane.

  • Thanks. Me too.

  • that stinks in the corn field

  • Luckily it was a soft landing though.

  • Thanks for watching and happy flying.

  • Ditto.

  • where did you buy that???

  • Byron Models. Ida Grove, Iowa...in 1979. They no longer make them, only nitro fuel these days, but word is someone bought the molds and we may see them again.

  • you are flying this model since 1979!!!

how often do you fly it?

  • Usually 6 to 10 times a year. It;s and antique, so I hate to over due it....but I do fly it. I made a recent video of me changing out the radio too and flew it then too.

  • ya owe that farmer $5 :) and dang, your nearest hobby shop has to be sioux falls or ol ida grove, hence 30 yr old byron pitts :)

  • Haha. Yep. And neither place has parts for the Pitts as Byron is out of the business of making Planes. They only make Nitro Fuel now.

  • is there a hobby shop in Ida Grove? Beautiful town, was there just a while back... geocaching.

  • Maybe. I dunno. Byron only sells nitro fuel now, no planes.

  • luv the vid and the plane check out our vids rdmfc utube channel great location too luv sue :)

  • Thanks. I will.

  • Cool plane! Love the sound of the motor and gear drive. However, please fix the floppy wheel pants. There's better ways of mounting them now. OH, Loved the flying field too! I've done that a time or two but don't tell anyone.

  • Haha. Thanks. Well I never knew they were that way till I got out to the "field". They are now fixed with new wheels too.

  • Well, it is a great looking plane for sure and glad it was recovered in one piece.

  • that engine has a very nice sound to it!

  • Thanks. Yep, I love it myself too.

  • nightfklyer why did you make the screen blue it ruined it!! it would have been awesome

  • I made it black and white as you absolutely could not see it go down at all otherwise. So you don't think the flying was awesome, only crashing?

  • no i think the flying awe mazing but i like watching parts fly everywhere

  • Haha.. As long as they are not yours, right. LOL. Well this plane cost me $2000 when I first got it, so I don't like seeing parts fly everywhere, myself, ya know.

  • i know what you mean thats why i moved to electric park flyers

  • $66.60 a year, even if it should (heaven forbid) meet it's end soon you've definitely gotten your moneys worth out of it :P They all have an expiration date; it's too bad they don't put it on the plane before you buy it, eh? Love the sound of the motor, btw.

  • As long as there is glue, I'm in business. LOL Thanks for the comments.

  • whats with all the stupid Sony ads

I don't here any copyrighted music on this video. NICE VIDEO BTW

  • Thanks kindly for your comments. I appreciate them,

  • That was great, ... and the sound of that engine, it´s just amazing. Is like a good wine, it just improves with time. Keep it flying that´s what it was built for.

  • You've got some great vids out there Dave. just bought my first plane 4 days ago, and I've got 18 flights on it already, turned out to be a really great trainer plane with dual rates selectable on the trans. It's the Parkzone Vapor. Honestly, I crashed it a bunch, till I was more used to it and the only damage sustained was a broken prop which I fixed with gap-filling CA adhesive. She flys better now than when I bought her.....which has everything to do with the fact that I'm a rookie!

  • Thanks kindly. Glad your having fun. Those are tiny planes, but do fly well.

    Good luck.

  • How high can this thing fly?

  • Out of sight, then it is too late....LOL.

  • That's one lovely old Bird Dave, and great job keeping her fyable in that mishap, wish I was that good.

  • Thanks kindly. Keep with it and you will be even better.

  • Ahhhh, good ol' corn saves the day...

  • True, very true.

  • Are there any wing ailerons on both real & RC bi-planes? When constructing RC planes, do you have a set of proven measurements to follow? For instance, the wings are longer then the fuselage, etc. Thanks for sharing.

  • Yes, of course. I worry more about CG (center of gravity) versus size. A garage door will fly if properly balanced and a big enough engine. LOL. Thanks for your comments.

  • hey night- a bit off topic here but i was just wondering if you tried the blade mcx? you could do a review on it

  • If I get one, I certainly will Thanks.

  • Got one...See my latest video on it. (Nightflyyer aka NightFlyyersShadow)

I have somehow wound up with my OWN NAME in my BLOCKED USER LIST and can no longer reply to comments made on my own videos! I tried unblocking myself in my account, to no avail. Calls & emailing a trouble form to Google/YouTube has been futile..

  • this is classic :p you/he was luckey thath it landed there. if it was an smaler airoplane and just me i would have to burn the field to find it :)

  • Haha. True, very true. Thanks for the comments.

  • I've been getting the last flights in myself before the long cold Michigan winter sets in. With that new high efficiency furnace out in the garage though, you'll be fine.

Dave, check out Eflite's new Blade MCX mini counter- rotatator. I've got one it it flies beautifully in my 2 -1/2 car garage. It can be bought in a bind and fly version so you can bind it to your DX6I.

  • Been thinking about getting one. How much is it without the TX?

  • The bind and fly version was 100.00 at my local H.S.. the RTF version is 129.00.

Worth every cent for me in the winter months to get my heli flight fix every day. Sooo addictive...

  • Thanks. Guess I will have to get one, since garage flying is about all we'll be able to do for the next 4 months, around here.

  • oh 1 question by the way, did you find any 'signs' in the corn field? LOL.

  • great flying, best regards from Mexico

  • Buenos Diaz. Thanks very kindly.

  • wehey! brillint flying, quite a soothing noise that plane was making, other planes sound like they dont want to be out LOL

    great video as always Dave.

  • Thanks very much. I am glad you enjoyed it.

  • Out of all your planes, and heli's, this has to be my favorite one. Excellent vodeo. 5/5

  • Thanks very much. It is definitely my favorite too.

  • wow what a great plane. love all the loops and especially the slow pass.thanks dave. makes me motivated to put the new tail on the firebird and go fly.
