I believe the designers were part of the Diablo II team. They made Mythos but it never made it to the shelf due to funding. I think they got bought out/funded by whichever company came out with Torchlight (sold on Steam).

I'm sure Wikipedia could fill you in on the specifics.

I wouldn't be surprised if this game still came out though.

I played this game back when FSS was still up and the game was in closed beta I believe.

I liked it. My one complaint was being overwhelmed by quests. I seemed to always have way too many, ones for my level and ones for below my level that I hadn't completed yet.

This game is nearly identical to NOX. THAT was a fun game. BTW!!! Although I am a blizzard fan, blizzard did not invent point-click RPG's. So actually this game is not a Diablo rip-off. Check out: Baldur's gate, Icewind dale, Lionheart, Torment, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, and more. If you were an RPG fan you would know these titles. I'm sick of everyone ONLY dropping Diablo's name...

Well, true. But it's more like Gauntlet is the grandfather of dungeon crawlers, and it's predecessors may be looked upon as a clone. If you say D2 is a clone, then DungeonS2 is also a clone. I think the main concept is to take the best ideas from D2 which has made it so good, and make new twists, to try and steal the crowd to their own game. Unfortunately Mythos got cancelled, which is very sad imo :(

The Mythos Alpha stage started around January in 2007. Later on that spring it entered Beta. Much later after alot of work by only ~10! people the game had turned into so much more than what it was in the Alpha, I should know I joined during the Alpha and played to it's sadly End in Beta around June-July 2008.

The game was brilliant, not as great as Diablo was, but it was brilliant and it was only in Beta!. It had -alot- of potential.
